Our hosts are Henk Witte, founder of Witte Travel, and his wife, Thressa. Henk, who emigrated from the Netherlands

The Wittes have traveled extensively, both with groups and on their own. Their retirement includes plans to see more of the world. Being an avid boater throughout his life and having a natural love for the oceans, lakes, and rivers of the world, he and Thressa have hosted 20 cruises, including his annual Netherlands Waterway Cruise.
Henk has visited nearly every city, town, and landmark included in this itinerary, and he and Thressa look forward to exploring them further with members of the cruise tour. You can be sure that the Wittes’ fun-loving spirit and cordiality will enhance the tour experience for every one of you. They welcome you aboard!

departure from the U.S.
The day of departure has arrived! We’ll meet at the airport in Chicago, or our preferred departure city, to check in for the flights to Europe. Our adventure is beginning! (D-in flight) Tuesday, June 27
Arrive Munich
Guten Tag, and welcome to Germany! We’ll touch down in Munich, the Bavarian capital, by midday. Following customs formalities, we’ll meet our tour manger and transfer to the city center. An orientation tour will introduce us to the city’s gracefully landscaped parks and splendid Baroque architecture, and we’ll end our tour at the Marienplatz, with its famed Glockenspiel. We’ll then check in at the hotel for dinner and a good night’s sleep. (B, D) inCluDED ExCuRSiOn: Munich city tour
Wednesday, June 28
Munich, Passau
We’ll have a few hours this morning to explore Munich on our own and then depart for lovely Passau, the “city of three rivers” where the Danube, Inn, and Ilz Rivers meet. We plan to arrive by noon to attend an organ recital at St. Stephen’s Cathedral. This church contains the largest Catholic church organ in the world and the largest organ in Europe, with 17,974 pipes and 233 stops. We’ll then have time for independent lunch and to look around the delightful town before embarking the elegant MS Amadeus Royal, our home for the next week. After a chance to settle into our cabins, enjoy a welcome cocktail and dinner on board. Our overnight sailing will be to Regensburg. (B, D)

Regensburg
We’ll arrive in the medieval city of Regensburg at 9:30 a.m. and take a guided walking tour of the city that includes the remains of the emperor’s old Roman Wall and Porta Praetoria, the 12th-century bridge, as well as the Dom St. Peter, one of Bavaria’s grandest Gothic cathedrals. Those who wish to return to the ship can have lunch on board. The afternoon is free to explore the Old Town with its narrow lanes, patrician houses, charming churches, and stone towers. Later this afternoon, we’ll return to the cruise ship. Enjoy a Bavarian folklore show and dinner, and set sail at 8:00 p.m. to travel overnight to Passau. Friday, June 30
Passau, Český Krumlov, Linz
After arriving in Passau at 8:00 a.m., we’ll board our waiting motorcoach and travel across the Czech border to Český Krumlov, a medieval town in southern Bohemia. It was built around the 13th century and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We’ll visit the castle and have time for lunch, followed by some free time to explore on our own. We’ll then travel across the Austrian border to Linz to re-board the cruise ship, have dinner, and sail overnight to Emmersdorf. (B, D)

Emmersdorf, Weissenkirchen, nussdorf, Vienna
The famous Benedictine Melk Abbey in Melk awaits us today, one of Europe’s loveliest Baroque buildings. Situated on a rocky bluff overlooking the Danube, the setting is truly extraordinary! We’ll take a guided tour of the abbey and see the Marble Hall with its allegorical painted ceiling, the Imperial Rooms, and the famous library that houses more than 80,000 priceless volumes. We’ll then visit a winery in the lovely Wachau Valley wine region and have a chance to sample some of this region’s delightful wines, before re-boarding the ship in Weissenkirchen. Our afternoon will be spent relaxing on the ship and enjoying the beautiful scenery as we cruise to Vienna— Austria’s capital city, seat of government, and cultural center. We’ll dock in nearby Nussdorf after dinner, and those who wish will be transferred into Vienna for the evening. (B, L, D) inCluDED ExCuRSiOnS: Tour of Melk Abbey and winery visit sunday, July 2
Vienna, nussdorf
We’ll have a full day in Vienna, starting with a guided tour of the city’s highlights that includes views of some of its oldest buildings along the Ringstrasse—
among them Hofburg Palace, the Parliament building, the New Town Hall, and the Post Office Savings Bank. We’ll also tour the impressive State Opera House and visit St. Stephen’s Cathedral in the center of the Ring. The rest of the afternoon is free to do as we please in Vienna, with the option of returning to the cruise ship for lunch and dinner or remaining in Vienna for independent meals (transportation will be provided to and from the cruise ship for meals). We plan to attend an opera or a concert this evening. (B, L, D)

Bratislava
The cruise ship will sail in the early morning hours across the Slovakian border to its capital, Bratislava, arriving there at 8:00 a.m. This wonderful Eastern European city is situated between the Danube and the legendary Carpathian Mountains. Our guided tour includes the 13th-century Town Hall and Bratislava Castle. After
lunch on board, we’ll have time to explore Bratislava or visit Schloss Hof, the country estate of Prince Eugene of Savoy. Back on board this evening, we’ll enjoy the captain’s gala dinner and depart Bratislava at 10:00 p.m. for the overnight sailing to Hungary. (B, L, D)

Tuesday, July 4
Esztergom, Szentendre, Budapest
We’ll have the option of spending a leisurely morning on board or taking an excursion to the Hungarian cities of Esztergom and Szentendre. Esztergom was the original capital and seat of the Hungarian Catholic Church and Szentendre is known as an artists’ colony, with beautiful old churches, cobblestone streets, museums and galleries, and gorgeous views of the Danube. Back on board for lunch, we’ll arrive in the Hungarian capital of Budapest at 1:00 p.m. The Danube figures prominently in this city, separating the two halves of Buda and Pest, which we’ll see during an orientation tour. Highlights include the
views of the Parliament Building and the UNESCO-designated Castle Hill district, home to the glorious St. Matthias Church. Back on board the ship, we’ll take an evening cruise of Budapest to see the city illuminated at night and enjoy a traditional Hungarian folklore show. (B, L, D)

Budapest
Our cruise has come to a close. We’ll disembark after breakfast and have a full day to explore fascinating Budapest! A more in-depth tour includes the Great Synagogue that was desecrated during WWII, but reconstructed with donations from all over the world; there’s a weeping willow made of metal in the courtyard honoring victims of the Holocaust. We’ll also visit St. Stephen’s Basilica, the city’s largest church with a capacity of 8,500 people, along with
the Millennial Monument on Heroes’ Square and Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The rest of the day is free to look around on our own and shop for our last souvenirs, and we’ll enjoy a festive farewell dinner at a restaurant. (B, D)

Bohinj, Bled
Lake Bohinj awaits us today, the largest glacier lake in Slovenia that is situated in the Julian Alps with the country’s highest peak, Mt. Triglav, rising above. In the town of the same name we’ll see St. John’s Church with its 13th-century frescoes and take a cable-car ride to the top of Mt. TERMS AND CONDITIONS The cost of your tour includes:
Air transportation for the cruise is from Chicago to Munich and from Budapest returning to Chicago, for the cruise plus extension from Chicago to Munich and returning to Chicago from Llubljana, with any regularly scheduled air carrier, based on a nonrefundable/nonchangeable fare, which requires a minimum of 10 passengers traveling round trip together. Tickets are issued 45 days prior to departure. All current airlines taxes, security fees and fuel surcharges are included. Note that these items cannot be guaranteed until tickets are issued.
Secure flight information. The requirement to collect date of birth, gender, and full name are federally mandated by the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) Secure Flight Program. While disclosure of this information is voluntary, if it is not provided, participants may be denied boarding. For TSA’s policy and more information, visit http://www.tsa.gov and search on Secure Flight. Witte Travel & Tours (Witte) takes all reasonable steps to safeguard the privacy of all information collected from its clients.
Frequent flyer points are not guaranteed in connection with group airfares. Some airlines may limit group airfare credits to 25% to 50% of the frequent flyer points that apply to individuals while others do not offer any credits for group airfares.
Hazardous Materials. Federal law forbids the carriage of hazardous
materials aboard aircraft in your luggage or on your person. A
violation can result in five years’ imprisonment and penalties of
$250,000 or more (49 U.S.C. 5124). Hazardous materials include
explosives, compressed gases, flammable liquids and solids,
oxidizers, poisons, corrosives and radioactive materials. For more
information, examples and special exceptions, visit: http://www.tsa.
gov/traveler-information/prohibited-items.
Land transportation by deluxe air-conditioned motorcoaches for transfers, excursions, and travel between cities. Because motorcoach travel is restricted in many European cities, sightseeing is often done on foot or via public transportation.
Accommodations For two (2) nights in centrally located moderate to standard
first-class hotels and on board the MS Amadeus Royal for seven (7) nights
based on two persons sharing a room with private facilities. On the cruise ship, all cabins are outside facing, equipped with a shower, and have two beds that can be linked together or set up separately. When hotels in these categories are not available, top-quality superior tourist-class properties are selected. The supplement for single accommodations is $450 for Haydn Deck, $550 for Strauss Deck, and $650 for Mozart Deck. Please note: singles are not possible in the suites. If you register alone but want a roommate, we will do our best to assign one. If a single room must be assigned to any member of the group for any reason, even if it is at the last minute or while on tour, we will need to charge the single supplement. Changes in rooming arrangements requested by the participant 45 or fewer days prior to departure may result in additional charges.
Meals. Breakfast and dinner daily, as well as lunches during the cruise.
Dinners do not include beverages.
A multi-lingual European tour manager will accompany the group from arrival in Munich until departure from Budapest, and will be assisted by local guides as needed. An experienced English-speaking cruise director will also accompany the group during the cruise.
Sightseeing and admission fees in accordance with the itinerary.
Tipping and taxes are included for all services, including tips to the tour manager, cruise personnel, motorcoach driver, and local guides.
The tour cost does not include passports, airline luggage fees if charged, optional travel protection plan including luggage and trip cancellation coverage, optional excursions, independent meals, and any other items not mentioned as included.
Luggage allowance. You may take one suitcase with a maximum size of 62 linear inches (height plus width plus depth) and weight of 50 lbs. You may also carry a purse, a camera and one piece of hand luggage with a maximum size of 45 linear inches and weight of 15 lbs. These size and weight restrictions
conform to most airlines’ requirements. Hand luggage does not fit in the overhead bins on the motorcoach. There may be room for it in the storage compartment under the coach or by an empty seat on board. If not, it will need to be placed on the floor in front of your feet.
Insecticide Disclosure. Some countries require that aircraft be treated with insecticides prior to flight or while occupied. For a list of the countries with insecticide requirements, go to http://airconsumer.dot.gov/spray.htm. Optional travel protection. Witte recommends that you purchase a travel protection plan. For your convenience, Witte Travel offers a travel protection plan designed by Travelex Insurance Services. This travel protection can be purchased at any time prior to making the final payment for your tour. The pre-existing medical conditions exclusion will be waived if you purchase the protection plan within 14 days of the initial trip deposit, provided you are medically fit to travel at the time of purchase. Tours over 30 days are not eligible for coverage. The plan cost for the travel protection plan that applies to your tour will be noted in your brochure and on the registration form. It may be necessary to increase the trip cost insured on the travel protection plan if you purchase additional services and/or upgrade any arrangements. This could increase the plan cost of the travel protection plan. The plan cost for this travel protection plan is non-refundable after a 10 day review period.
