SANITARY & STORM SEWER TAP FEES

(Referred to as “Sewer Service Connection” in July 1, 2015 City of Ann Arbor

Water Utilities Department Rules and Regulation Document)

The sewer tap fees for sanitary sewer and storm sewer shall be in the amount of $582.00 each, payable at the time of application for a sewer tap permit from the Water Utilities Customer Service Department.

CONVERSION CREDITS FOR METER SIZE ENLARGEMENT

Whenever water meters serving an existing premises are enlarged and the customer originally paid a water permit charge based on meter size, the original meter size will be converted to tap size and the difference between the equivalent tap size and the actual tap size shall be levied. (Ordinance No. 49-03; 2:22 and 2:42.4)

The corresponding dollar amounts for equivalent tap size for both water and sewer connections are provided in the chart below.

ORIGINAL METER SIZE

EQUIVALENT TAP SIZE WATER CONNECTION CHARGE

EQUIVALENT TAP SIZE SEWER CONNECTION CHARGE

5/8” $ 2,620.00 $ 2,235.00 3/4 “ $ 4,094.00 $ 3,492.00 1” $ 5,895.00 $ 5,029.00 1.5” $ 10,480.00 $ 8,940.00 2” $ 23,580.00 $ 20,115.00 3” $ 41,920.00 $ 35,760.00 4” $ 65,500.00 $ 55,875.00 6” 128,380.00 $109,515.00

The charge that the customer must pay is calculated by subtracting the credited amount identified in the chart above, from the new meter (equivalent tap) size in the Connection Charges table (see previous page). For example, if a customer is going from a 5/8” meter to a 1.5” meter, the water connection charge credit will be $2620.00 and the sewer connection charge credit will be $2235.00. The new water

connection charge will be $5895.00 and the new sewer connection charge will be $5029.00

$5895.00 - $2620.00 = $3,275.00 (Water Service Connection Charge - existing service credit) $5029.00 - $2235.00 = $2,794.00 (Sewer Service Connection Charge - existing service credit)
