A letter from the President

The Union Endicott Education Foundation has grown and thrived for the past 15 years thanks to the generous contributions of our donors. Those individuals, businesses, and organizations believe in the mission of the UEEF and the work that we do in partnership with the Union Endicott Central School District.

The 2019-2020 year allowed the Board of Trustees to reflect back on the work that UEEF has accomplished, while also looking ahead to what we can do greater. UEEF could not have made it to this point in its existence without our core fundraising initiatives. These initiatives include the UE Employee Payroll Deduction, the annual Basket Raffle at the UE Craft Show, and of course, a favorite among many, our Annul Team Trivia Night (which, thankfully, we were able to hold just in time before the shutdown).

With these great things in place, UEEF stood committed to providing innovative and creative educational opportunities to UE Students throughout the district. We were able to award 14 Innovation Grants for a total of $15, 097.57 and we had the opportunity to award several Special Request grants that totaled just over $900. When UE students had to adapt to an unfamiliar experience of learning remotely, the UEEF partnered with the UE District and a local company to provide internet service to the families most in need because we, along with our partners, believed that a student’s education shouldn’t be interrupted if the problem can be avoided.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I am extremely grateful for the generosity and support that our donors have shown us, not only this year, but also in years past as well. The foundation looks forward to the continued partnership we have established and hopes that our efforts make you proud in the collaboration that we have with the Union Endicott Central School District.

Sincerely,

Andre L Mathis UEEF President

THE INNOVATIONS GRANT PROGRAM

Each year in May, the Foundation approves funding for the following year’s Innovations Grants. Teachers and staff are encouraged to apply for amounts up to $1,000.00. The applications are reviewed by a committee and presented to the entire Foundation Board for discussion and approval. Selected grants are then forwarded to the Board of

Education for final review and implementation.

Eleven were approved in May, 2018, to be in effect July 1 and were completed by June 30, 2019.

SPECIAL PROJECTS

Tiger Closet --- A generous donation from Connie Gault in memory of her mother, Helen

Townsley, has funded this project for nine years. Students in need can receive hygiene items or clothing, and they pay it forward by doing good deeds for others. The project was extended a few years ago to UE High School, in addition to serving Jennie F. Snapp. UEEF, the Union-Endicott school district, and a private citizen have teamed up to make this much-needed program a success.

FUNDING SOURCES

Union-Endicott CSD Employee Payroll Deduction Program --- The UE employee

payroll deduction program is now finishing its fifteenth year and continues to be a major revenue source for the Foundation. Through this program, UE staff members partner with the Foundation to support innovative educational programs in our district. Seventy-seven staff members participated in the employee payroll deduction program this year.

Union-Endicott Retiree Appeal --- Retired UE personnel participate in an annual

solicitation to benefit the Foundation.

IBM Employee and Retiree Payroll Deduction --- This is UEEF’s eleventh year as

an IBM approved charity. Each year during the company’s Charitable Contribution Campaign, employees and retirees can have donations to UEEF deducted directly from their pay checks.

UEEF Annual Trivia Night --- The thirteenth annual UEEF Trivia Night was held

in February. The Foundation received generous donations from the community and widespread support from school staff members.

Annual Fund Drive --- Letters were sent to donors giving them an opportunity to make a

tax-deductible contribution.

Office Personnel Association (OPA) Fall Craft Fair --- Participation in this annual

event allows UEEF to advertise its mission to the community. The funds raised from the basket and gift certificate raffles are a significant source of revenue for the Foundation. UEEF is grateful to all the individuals and businesses who donated prizes for this event.

Memorial Gifts --- The UEEF is honored when the Foundation is designated as a

recipient of donations in memory of loved ones.

NOTE: If you are interested in making a donation to the UEEF, please visit us on UE’s

If you choose to pay by check, please make checks payable to UEEF and mail to: PO Box 191, Endicott, NY 13761.
