Welcome

Dear HISPA Role Models and Guests, ¡Feliz Día de los Reyes Magos!

Welcome to the HISPA 2012 Three Kings Banquet, a night in which we recognize all your efforts in support of advancing HISPA’s mission. A night in which we celebrate the more than 600 volunteers who support our goals by giving their time, sharing their stories, and caring for today’s Latino youth, the future leaders of America.

Last year was a very exciting year for HISPA. HISPA was selected to receive a government grant from the NJ Department of State - Center for Hispanic Policy, Research and Development. This grant has allowed HISPA to expand its reach by providing funding for 10 schools. In 2011, HISPA also participated in TV and radio shows, we grew our Board and Advisory Council, and new employee resource groups joined our efforts. We held an inspirational and educational HISPA Youth Conference at Princeton University, and our HISPA 2011 Role Model Program Kick-Off and Recruiting event was a resounding success.

Just five years ago, HISPA stepped forward to bring together a diverse group of professionals from the public and private sector under one vision – that together, through our experiences, we could inspire Latino students’ academic performance and achievement. Little did we know that we could transform the future of so many students through our own personal examples of how each one of us accomplished our goals of becoming professionals.

Today our program is in 18 schools and 1,000 students will get to know many of you as HISPA Role Models. Tonight I thank you for joining forces with HISPA to continue to SHARE, INSPIRE and TRANSFORM the lives of these students. Like the Three Wise Men, you bring many wonderful gifts to the students in each school visit. You bestow the gift of your time, you impart the gift of your unique story, and you generously offer the gift of your compassion – always looking for new ways to support the students. And, that’s why, tonight, on behalf of all of them, I thank you for the many wonderful gifts you have shared!

Mil gracias HISPA Role Models!
