Welcome
Dear HISPA Role Models and Guests, ¡Feliz Día de los Reyes Magos!
Welcome to the HISPA 2012 Three Kings Banquet, a night in which we recognize all your efforts in support of advancing HISPA’s mission. A night in which we celebrate the more than 600 volunteers who support our goals by giving their time, sharing their stories, and caring for today’s Latino youth, the future leaders of America.
Last year was a very exciting year for HISPA. HISPA was selected to receive a government grant from the NJ Department of State - Center for Hispanic Policy, Research and Development. This grant has allowed HISPA to expand its reach by providing funding for 10 schools. In 2011, HISPA also participated in TV and radio shows, we grew our Board and Advisory Council, and new employee resource groups joined our efforts. We held an inspirational and educational HISPA Youth Conference at Princeton University, and our HISPA 2011 Role Model Program Kick-Off and Recruiting event was a resounding success.
Just five years ago, HISPA stepped forward to bring together a diverse group of professionals from the public and private sector under one vision – that together, through our experiences, we could inspire Latino students’ academic performance and achievement. Little did we know that we could transform the future of so many students through our own personal examples of how each one of us accomplished our goals of becoming professionals.
Today our program is in 18 schools and 1,000 students will get to know many of you as HISPA Role Models. Tonight I thank you for joining forces with HISPA to continue to SHARE, INSPIRE and TRANSFORM the lives of these students. Like the Three Wise Men, you bring many wonderful gifts to the students in each school visit. You bestow the gift of your time, you impart the gift of your unique story, and you generously offer the gift of your compassion – always looking for new ways to support the students. And, that’s why, tonight, on behalf of all of them, I thank you for the many wonderful gifts you have shared!
Mil gracias HISPA Role Models!

Yolanda Baker
Senior Information Technology Auditor Chubb Group of Insurance Companies
Yolanda Baker has been active in community volunteering since she was a junior in High School in Caguas, Puerto Rico. Born in Connecticut, her family moved to Puerto Rico when she was five years old. She was one of the youngest members of the Institute of Culture of Puerto Rico, where she worked with a team to bring theater to small communities in the town of Caguas, P.R.
After her first year at the University of Puerto Rico, Yolanda moved to New Jersey. While at the Kean University, she became a community activist in Coalition for a United Elizabeth, an inner city community anticrime and youth program.
She currently works at Chubb, an insurance company, as a Senior Information Technology Auditor. She holds a B.A. Degree in Spanish from Kean University, and a Certificate of Computer Programming from the Cittone Institute. She is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
Yolanda is a past President of the Chubb Hispanic Latino Employee Network, CHLEN. As part of the core team that created the group, she has been instrumental in fostering community outreach to the nearby Hunterdon Hispanic community and introduced HISPA to the company. A HISPA Role Model since October 2008, she is a HISPA Ambassador at Chubb and an avid talent scout for Role Models.
She is a Vice President of the NJ chapter of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) and a director since 2006. Yolanda received the Selma Zorowitz Award for excellent service to the NJ ISACA chapter in 2009. Currently, she chairs the Collaboration Tools and Board Development committees.
Yolanda resides in East Hanover, NJ with husband Mike and their daughter Amanda.
