Safety Protocols

Parent and Student Commitments:

As AUSD prepares to welcome back students in learning centers, we continue to monitor safety

requirements and recommendations from the Contra Costa County Health Officer and have developed protocols and processes to help ensure the safety of our students and staff. The safety of our students and staff remains our primary focus. Any person entering District property or attending District sponsored activities must follow all safety protocols. These protocols may change and evolve as the District continues to receive new information from local, state and federal authorities.

Students must arrive and be picked up on time. They must bring their devices and any learning materials necessary for each day. Parents will be called for immediate pick up if a student is ill or if they do not follow safety protocols and learning center expectations. Students who are sent home for inappropriate behavior three times will be removed from the learning center for the remainder of the year. Students may also be removed from the learning center if they arrive late or are picked up late more than three times. Students who are transported by bus will be contacted by AUSD transportation services on pick-up and drop-off times. Parents/Guardians of students who are walking will need to fill out a walking permission slip in the office.

Safety Precautions:

Site administrators will ensure the following:

• Staff will take student temperatures upon arrival. If a student has a temperature that exceeds 100.4, he/she will be sent home and will not be able to participate in the Hub until such time as she/he has been fever-free for at least 24 hours without fever-reducing medication. Parents are not permitted to walk students to class.

• Students and staff shall wear masks at all times. Masks will be provided for any student who arrives on campus without one.

Each student workstation will have plastic desktop guards. Hand sanitizer will be provided in every learning center

HVAC systems in the Hub locations have Merv-13 filters. The airflow mixture and rate meet or exceed recommended guidelines.
