1 Precautions

Note

Danger

Danger

Danger

Hoisting Heavy Objects

When heavy objects are hoisted, do not stand or walk under the boom or the objects.

Caution

Microwave

Strong radio frequency can harm the human body. Do not stay too close to the antenna in the emitting direction of the antenna when the microwave communication equipment is working. Before installing or maintaining an antenna on the iron tower or the mast installed with more than one antenna, avoid the strong radiation from the other antennas.

Caution

IF Cable

Before installing or removing an IF cable, turn off the ODU power switch.

Working at Heights

When working at heights, prevent objects from falling down.

Thunderstorm

High voltage and AC operations, or operations on an iron tower and a mast on a thunderstorm day are prohibited. This document aims a t providing simple and distinctive guidelines for hardware installation. For details on the installation operation steps, refer to the Installation Guide delivered in the form of CD-ROM along with the equipment.

Remove the antirust coating and oxide layer  before connecting ODU

grounding cable to the tower grounding point. Make waterproof and antirust treatment to the grounding point after connecting.

Connect the grounding cable to the nearest grounding point to ODU of tower or grounding copper busbar.

8-2 Installing the IF Cable

8 Installing ODU Cables

CAUTION

§ Bind the IF cable first to prevent its type-N connector from being pulled.

§ Take waterproof measures (waterproof curves) for the part of the IF cable below the ODU and the part of

the IF cable outside the IDU room.

The feeder must have a waterproof

arch before entering an equipment

room.

Microwave Product Support Dept. Internal Use Only▲

Reserve IF cable of proper length (5m~10m recommended) at the ODU end. Make it into a circle and fix on tower.

Tie the cable every 1.0m~1.5m.

IF cables shall be lined and tied closely together. Distance between ties should  be constant.

Do waterproof treatment to the ODU IF cable connector.

When winding tape, the upper layer should cover 2/3 of the layer under it.

8-4 Grounding the IF Cable - Grounding Points

8 Installing ODU Cables

1. The place about one meter away from the IF interface of the ODU

2. The place about 0.5 to 1 meter away from the cable entry of equipment room or outdoor cabinet 3. The place on the roof edge about one meter away from the turning point of the wiring ladder  4. The middle point of the cable (when the cable is longer than 60 meters)

5. The place on the roof edge about one meter away from the turning point of the wiring ladder (when the horizontal portion of the cable on the roof-top is longer than 30 meters)

6. The middle point of the horizontal portion of the cable (when the horizontal portion on the roof-top is longer than 60 meters)

CAUTION

The grounding point depends on the installation mode and the length of the IF cable. Generally, the IF cable should be grounded to a minimum of three points. When the IF cable is longer than 60 meters, add a grounding point for every extra 30 meters. Antenna should be located in protective area of lightning arrester, and the area is a 45° arc area from the top of lightning arrester. (This area may be 30° from the top according to technical agreement or project design requirements).

Lightening protection angle should meet the below requirements:

· For plain area:≤45°

· For mountain or lightening area: ≤30°
