To Our TIBU Family and Friends:

We have been overwhelmed by your support of Abuela’s Swim and Silent

Auc-tion. Two years ago, we lost our beloved Silva “Abuela,” Jorge’s mother, to ALS.

At that time we established Abuela’s Swim as an annual fundraiser designed to

help alleviate the suffering caused by neuro-muscular disease and to fund

re-search for ALS. We could not bring this project to life without your support!

Your gifts at Abuela’s Swim and Auction--gifts of time, money, and love--are

deeply appreciated. Should we fail to thank you individually, please know that

we are grateful. We feel blessed to have such a wonderful extended family in

our TIBU community.

Thank you for joining us in our efforts to eradicate ALS and to honor the spirited

life of “Abuela” Mercedes Silva.

Remodeling

National Capital Installers, Inc. was organized in 1979 to develop a company run by installers, for installers of

hard surface products. The idea being most flooring companies cannot adequately support a team of highly

trained mechanics. In order to maintain a certain standard of installation, constant training and repetition of

installation are needed to allow a mechanic to remain familiar and comfortable with the products he is required

to install. In a setting of all installers, a think tank situation is created where discussions of new technologies,

techniques, and problem solving is a regular occurrence. In this way, we stay mentally aware as well as physically

capable of handling real job situations.

National Capital Installers, Inc. invests in the latest of equipment to keep our people equipped with the best

working tools available. The most important aspect of our concept is the support we give to each mechanic and

crew. There is nothing more important than the work currently being done. Those of us mechanics who are now

in the office act as inspectors, additional mechanics and gophers for whatever needs the mechanic calls for

dur-ing an installation. Each job is approached as a team effort and all details are thought out. Part of our support is

the 4000 sq. ft. warehouse facility and offices we maintain to receive all materials. Materials are sent directly to

us so that we may better control each job.

NCI’s mission is to provide the best possible installation on any hard surface item, keeping true to the

manufac-turers specifications, and offering knowledgeable advice on compromises in achieving successful floors.

Like many neighborhood clubs built in the 1970’s, Quince Orchard Swim and Tennis Club was built by the

neighborhood developer, Dave Schain, as an enticement to purchase a home. Mr. Schain thought, quite

logi-cally, that he could sell more homes if there were swim and tennis facilities in the immediate area to which local

families could walk. Mr. Schain added a tennis “air structure” at some point in the late 1970’s to extend the tennis

season beyond which was, at that time, just a Memorial to Labor Day membership.

In the spring of 1985, John Adams, then Head Tennis Professional at Columbia Country Club in Chevy Chase,

purchased Quince Orchard Swim and Tennis Club from Dave Schain who eventually moved to Florida. John

im-mediately began to improve the overall facilities and hired Tim Harvey as the first Head Professional in

Novem-ber of 1985 and John’s father, Jere Adams, oversaw general club operations for the first several years. In 1989 John

saw increasing interest in an indoor aquatic center and installed a new air structure over the pool area in the late

winter of that year. Since that time, indoor swimming and usage of the facility by year-round swim teams looking

for a winter home has absolutely boomed. Currently, we have five year-round swim teams spending their winter

season with us as well as Atlantic Edge Scuba and Wet Yet, a water aerobics and fitness company.

Quince Orchard opened a new tennis facility in September of 1997 after a snow storm and local electrical

out-age devastated the old tennis air structure. This new structure is widely regarded to have the best indoor tennis

lighting and the most room behind and between courts in the Washington, DC area. We have 160 individuals

involved in our Men’s and Ladies Doubles Flights; we are a home for the Chinese Tennis Association, the USTA’s

Junior Team Tennis; we are a recognized site for the USTA’s National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP) and

ac-knowledged in Washingtonian Magazine, April 1999 issue as “the place to advance your game in Maryland.”

We are extremely proud of the depth of our tennis instruction directed by Brian Fankhauser and our swim

pro-grams directed by Pam Champion. Although we are not “huge” in square footage, we think you will find our staff

is huge in heart and enthusiasm with an instructional program that makes everyone feel good about themselves

as they improve in personal skill.

Come on by and see for yourself what QOSTC can offer you and your family. We look forward to seeing you

soon.

Muddy Branch Veterinary Center is a full-service veterinary care facility located in Gaithersburg,

Maryland. Our practice has been open for over a dozen years and we have hundreds of satisfied

clients. We offer a full range of therapeutic and preventive pet care, including standard

vaccina-tions, nutritional advice, dentistry, and geriatric medicine. With complete surgical and radiology

facilities on site, we can also perform medical and surgical procedures on dogs, cats, and exotic

animals.

Our staff is led by Dr. Victor Katz. Dr. Katz is an excellent veterinarian who will work with you

to determine the best course of action for your pet’s continued health. He truly cares about each

individual critter that he encounters and if he runs into something that needs a specialist’s care,

he does not hesitate to refer you to an excellent specialist. He will also discuss health, feeding,

and treatment issues with you in a non-technical way so that you can actually understand what

he is saying. In his practice, the animals come first.

Sometimes we get so busy attending to the pressing needs of the pets which you entrust to our

care with that we forget to say “Thank You.” Your patronage is important to us, as is your trust.

We hope your experience at Muddy Branch Veterinary Center has been only the best.

Please schedule any planned visits in advance by calling us for an appointment.

Our hours are:

Monday- Thursday 7:30 am-7:00 pm
