Learning Outcome #1 … synthesize the role of human resources management as it supports the success of the organization including the effective development of human capital as an agent for organizational change.

Learning Outcome #2 … demonstrate knowledge of laws that impact behavior in relationships between employers and employees that ultimately impact the goals and strategies of the organization.

Learning Outcome #3 … understand the role of employee benefits and compensation as a critical component of employee performance, productivity and organizational effectiveness.

Learning Outcome #4 … show evidence of the ability to analyze, manage and problem solve to deal with the challenges and complexities of the practice of collective bargaining.

Learning Outcome #5 … demonstrate knowledge of practical application of training and employee development as it impacts organizational strategy and competitive advantage.

Synthesize the role of human resources management as it supports the success of the organization including the effective development of human capital as an agent for organizational change. It is a Direct, Internal, and Formative measure.

The measurement will take place in HRM 481, Organizational

Development, through the Book Club (semester long project) - One paper for each book as a result of student’s preparation and meeting facilitation. Evidence of

understanding and analysis to relate each book to the concepts of Organization Development. Goal is 80% or higher. Class average was 90% for the baseline data. Exceeded goal of 80%. Conducted discussion with students to determine both individual and group value of project, as well as additional areas of interest. The measurement will take place in HRM 384, Labor Law, through the average success rate on three essay tests and one research project of 80 % or higher. Class average was 90% for baseline data. Understand the role of employee benefits and compensation as a critical component of employee performance, productivity and organizational effectiveness. It is a Direct, Internal, and Formative measure. The measurement will take place in HRM 385, Employee Compensation and Benefits, through the Benefits Orientation Program (semester long project) - Demonstrate knowledge of Compensation & Benefits Program of a specific organization through final project presentation. Goal is 80% or higher. Class average was 90% for baseline data. Exceeded goal of 80%.

Conducted discussion with students to determine both individual and group value of project, as well as additional areas of interest. Will continue discussions with students about areas of interest.

Show evidence of the ability to analyze, manage and problem solve to deal with the challenges and complexities of the practice of collective bargaining. It is a Direct, Internal, and Formative measure. The measurement will take place in HRM 482, Collective Bargaining Management, through the Collective Bargaining Simulation - Planning Document for Bargaining, Final Contract Provisions, Observation of Student. Performance. Goal is 80% or higher. Class average was 90% for baseline data.

The goal was exceeded.

This project is included each time that this course is taught due to its practical application and importance to the learning process for this particular process. It is evaluated for

effectiveness at the completion and found to be extremely valuable (student opinion). The simulation is from the Society of Human Resources
