If there’s one word that sums up Disney, it’s magic. So, to celebrate the launch of Sky Movies Disney, Sky created an eye-catching DM pack the shape of a magic wand with a motivating half price offer. But that was only half the story. Families could use Blippar’s app on their smartphones or tablets to bring the pack to life. They could watch trailers of the Disney movies on offer – helping them to make their decision and also plan their viewing once they’d signed up.

As Matt Broekhuizen at Table19 explains,

"This campaign for Sky is a great example of

how you can bring the digital and physical

worlds together to great effect. We know that

DM works for Sky, but using Blippar brought

the new, exciting Disney content to life in a

way that we'd never been able to do before”.

Case study provided by Table 19. For more information please call

USING BLIPPAR

Blippar is easy to use, as Sam Grimley of Blippar explains:

“Download the free Blippar App from the app store and blipp the image. The image triggers extra content, which can be videos, 3D interactions, games or anything you think will excite your customers. This is a thrilling new way to mix direct mail and online content while being able to get some real smart analytics.” Go to www.blippar.co.uk to see more examples. 020 7400 7009 [email protected] T E Sam Grimley

DO YOU TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS LIKE

A 'CLOSE FRIEND' OR A 'TOTAL STRANGER'?

In these days of digital technology and marketing databases, there is no excuse not to communicate often and well with your customers. We all agree that targeted and relevant communication leads to improved customer engagement and increased sales. To fi nd out how well companies are doing this, GI Insight repeated their research from three years ago to generate The Customer Intimacy Index. This asked customers to rate companies on whether they ‘know them like a close friend’ or ‘treats me like a total stranger.' The fi ndings are interesting and surprising, showing signifi cant differences across industry sectors, age profi les and gender.

How well is your industry doing?

And what can you do to improve it?

DATA PROTECTION REFORM TAKES

A BUSINESS-FRIENDLY TURN

The latest proposals from EU ministers regarding the Data Protection Regulation have been published and make for welcome reading for the direct marketing industry.

The latest amendments include changes to crucial issues that, until now, were of serious concern because of their potentially disastrous impact on companies’ ability to collect and use data to market to consumers.

For more information please go to www.dma.org.uk or speak to Tristan Garrick Head of PR & Content on the below contact details.
