Mark your calendar for the kickoff party of the 2011 season on Friday May 27 starting at 6 pm with the buffet opening at 7pm and the gaming starting at 7:30pm. As has been the custom for the last couple of years, we will be featuring themes for each of the areas of the Club that night. Here’s the line-up for this year’s bash…

Pavilion

will be transformed into a Hawaiian Oasis, featuring a variety of indigenous Hawaiian fare and a live ukulele player. We will be allowing auditions for future Hawai-ian events. Darrin and the Harem will transform this venue into a tropical paradise for the benefit of all who attend that evening.

Side Deck & Lawn

will have Justin Johnson providing harmonious melodies on his magical

Git-fiddle for your listening pleasure. Tricia will be orchestrating a variety of Carolina Cuisine to whet your palate and stimulate your taste buds.

Main Dining Room

will be transformed into a Sock Hop Event with all the Oldies but Goodies that you can dance to. Food will be a combination of Old Fashioned Diner Cuisine/ Drive-In Fare. So if you liked Mom’s Meatloaf and Grandmothers Chicken and Dumplings, you will fall in love with this room.

Fireplace Room and Sun Room

will be converted into our gaming parlor and will feature a variety of “Games of Chance” that will generate a donation to a

Club-picked charity in the name of the overall winner based upon winnings. In addition to the games of Chance, we will have a variety of tables set up for dessert and other sweets. There is nothing nobler or better than losing a little money for a good cause and gaining a few

calories to boot.

Price is $30 for Members and $35 for guests.

Reservations are required so give us a ring at (910) 256-2496. This evening will be a truly festive way to ring in the 70th year of Coastal Carolina Fun at the Surf Club!

Message from the Club President

Just a short note to tell you how grateful the Board and I are for your continued strong support of the Club. Your support is allowing the Club to add amenities and events, extend the operating season and retain members while attracting new members. These are all commendable accomplishments in these chal-lenging economic times.

The goal of the Board is to make the Club accessible and affordable, while protecting the invest-ment that the membership has made into the Club. Your strong support both through usage and proposing of new members will insure that we achieve this goal.

The Club Staff is putting together an active and fun-filled season. Mothers Day, the Spring Wine Fair and the Opening Party are all great events for renewing old friendships and making new ones. Give the Club a call and sign up for one. The Camaraderie is world class and you’re sure to have a great time.

Once again, I thank you for your support and wish you and your family a safe and enjoyable season at the Surf Club.

– Warm Regards, Mat White - Club President
