On the night he was handed over to suffering and death, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread; and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and said, "Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me."

After supper he took the cup of wine; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and said, "Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me."

Therefore we proclaim the mystery of faith: Celebrant and People

Christ has died. Christ is risen.

Christ will come again. The Celebrant continues

We celebrate the memorial of our redemption, O Father, in this sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving. Recalling his death, resurrection, and ascension, we offer you these gifts.

Sanctify them by your Holy Spirit to be for your people the Body and Blood of your Son, the holy food and drink of new and unending life in him. Sanctify us also that we may faithfully receive this holy Sacrament, and serve you in unity, constancy, and peace; and at the last day bring us with all your saints into the joy of your eternal kingdom.

All this we ask through your Son Jesus Christ: By him, and with him, and in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit all honor and glory is yours, Almighty Father, now and forever. AMEN. And now, as our Savior Christ has taught us, we are bold to say People and Celebrant

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, Thy kingdom come, thy will be done,

On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory,

For ever and ever. Amen.

The Breaking of the Bread Celebrant and People

[Alleluia.] Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us; Therefore let us keep the feast. [Alleluia.]

Agnus Dei

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace

Facing the people, the Celebrant says the following invitation

The Gifts of God for the People of God.

Take them in remembrance that Christ died for you, and feed on him in your hearts by faith, with thanksgiving

.

During the ministration of Communion, hymns, psalms, or anthems may be sung.

After Communion, the Celebrant says

Let us pray. Celebrant and People

Eternal God, heavenly Father, you have graciously accepted us as living members of your Son our Savior Jesus Christ, and you have fed us with spiritual food in the Sacrament of his Body and Blood. Send us now into the world in peace, and grant us strength and courage to love and serve you with gladness and singleness of heart; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

Then the Celebrant continues

Holy and gracious Father: In your infinite love you made us for yourself, and, when we had fallen into sin and become subject to evil and death, you, in your mercy, sent Jesus Christ, your only and eternal Son, to share our human nature, to live and die as one of us, to reconcile us to you, the God and Father of all.

He stretched out his arms upon the cross, and offered himself, in obedience to your will, a perfect sacrifice for the whole world.

The Sermon seated Cn. Richard Visconti The Nicene Creed standing

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,

eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,

begotten, not made,

of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made.

For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit

he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried.

On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven

and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,

With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead,

and the life of the world to come. Amen. The Prayers of the People kneeling or standing

Please respond to each petition with “Lord, hear our prayer.”

Confession and Absolution Most merciful God,

we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed,

by what we have done,

and by what we have left undone.

We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways,

to the glory of your Name. Amen. The Peace standing

Celebrant The peace of the Lord be always with you. People And also with you

A MESSAGE FROM CN. RICHARD

As the viral conditions in New York State continue to improve, we are very gradu-ally expanding our in-person worship experience at Caroline Church. Although all the usual CDC guidelines remain in effect, we will now be able to extend our time to complete our Saturday and Sunday worship to no more than 60 minutes. This will give us an opportunity not to feel too rushed and allow us to receive Holy Communion more reflectively and traditionally. An added benefit is the oppor-tunity to safely greet you at the door of the church after all our worship services have ended.

Since the church will continue to be sanitized after each worship service, cushions and added papers will remain absent. The usual Offering Plate remains in the back of the church on the Ushers Desk, and there is no coffee hour. Although singing is not encouraged, organ music is played during the Sunday 9:30am. Holy

Eucharist service. All visitors are asked to continue registering their name and contact information in our guest book to facilitate contact-tracing if needed. We continue to have an in-person Healing Holy Eucharist service on Thursday at 12:00 Noon.

With Friday evening e-blasts to all parishioners, you will continue receiving the necessary attachments to facilitate your in-person worship. The Sunday morning e-blast will have the Vimeo link to view and pray the service from your home with the Order of Service and announcement booklet provided.

Our Sunday Church School program for our children and teenagers, continues to go well. Our youngest parishioners enjoy Children’s Chapel in the MCS building at 9:30 am, while all aged children begin their Church School classes at 9:30am. every Sunday morning. Classes are small, with face masks and sanitizers available for all. This safe environment has been conducive to learning for our elementary and middle school-aged children. We remain unable to have after-church school social gatherings.

With continued vigilance and the hope for significant medical advancements with a widely distributable vaccine in the near future, we expect to make positive strides in our in-gathering experience. Our Lord will continue to be with us as we rely upon his strength for our continued ministry with each other and for the service of our Three Village Community.

ANNUAL PARISH MEETING

Our Annual Parish Meeting will be held on Wednesday evening, January 27, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. in the Marco Smith Building and on Zoom. Please plan to attend this very important event in the life of our church either in person or on-line. If you are

responsible for writing a year-end report for an area of ministry you have been involved in over 2020, please complete it by January 12 and electronically e-mail it to Catherine at office@carolinechurch.net in the parish office.

This COVID-19 year of 2020 has been one for the ages. It has disrupted our entire parish life in so many ways. Therefore, we are asking our committee chairs to give a very brief update, if any, of how you functioned during this past year. Thus, your reflections will be incorporated in a much streamlined Annual Parish

Meeting Ministry Report for 2020.

CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR’S REMINDERS

.

Please note that due to the Christmas Eve (December 24) and New Year’s Eve (December 31 ) holidays, there will be NO healing

service on those dates.

The parish office will be closed on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day

and will reopen on Monday, January 4, 2021 Happy New Year!

DIAL-THE-WORD

Did you know that you can call Caroline Church, whenever the office is closed and hear a short scripture lesson, mediation and prayer from Cn. Richard? Dial the Word is a twenty-four hour a day, seven days a week telephone call-in ministry (at no charge to the caller within the local calling area). Each week a different theme is presented and explored through a variety of Biblical texts and commentary. A different message and Biblical passage is presented each day.

This ministry through Caroline Church has been going for the past seventeen years. Simply dial the main church number: (631) 941-4245; listen to the auto attendant directory and press the number 6 on your telephone for the Dial-the -Word menu.

This ministry is designed to support those who wish to hear the comforting and oftentimes challenging words of God. We hope you will take advantage of this ministry especially during these truly challenging days.

Worship at Caroline Church

May the Holy Spirit fill your hearts to praise the Lord for all the blessings of his grace today.

If you are a visitor to Caroline Church, please sign our Guest Book in the vestibule, including your name, address, telephone number, and e-mail.

Although we will not be singing during the 9:30am worship service,

you are welcome to follow along with the words of the hymns from the insert.

OUTREACH SUNDAY (AND SATURDAY TOO!) Sincerest thanks to all those who so generously supported our “Outreach Sunday” efforts . Once again, the people of Caroline Church reached into their wallets and gave self-lessly of their earthly treasure.

As a result, the vestry was able to provide support to the many members of our community who are in dire need this year. The ongoing pandemic has caused not only physical harm to our neighbors, but has wrought

economic hardships as well.

Thank you for your kind generosity, and Merry Christmas!

CAROLINE CONVERSATION ON-LINE

The Caroline Conversation, started in June of 2009, is an on-line discussion group for members and friends of Caroline Church. The format is a weekly consideration of the Gospel for the week ahead. Many of our discussions have been wonderfully thought provoking, and we look forward to hearing from more Carolinians.

All you need is an e-mail address to sign-up! If you would like to join the Conversation, just send an email to Cn. Richard at :

carolinerector@gmail.com from the e-mail address where you would like to receive messages, and you will receive an “invitation” to the

Conversation with directions for joining and a covenant shared by participants.

Please note that Children’s Chapel and Church School will resume NEXT SUNDAY,

Church School and Children’s Chapel

Both Church School and Children’s Chapel are going well! In addition to seeing additional adult members of our parish family, it is especially gratifying to see so many of our youngsters attend both Children’s Chapel and Church School. If you have not yet registered your child/children to attend Church School, registration forms are available at the parish office during the week and in the MCS Building on Sunday mornings. You can be assured that we are following all CDC protocols, including mandatory face masks for all in attendance, and adhering to social distancing guidelines. Hand sanitizer is provided, and eating/drinking in the class-rooms is not be permitted.

Please note that Children’s Chapel and Church School will begin at 9:30am (NOT at 10am as in previous years) The younger children (pre-K through second grade) will go to Children’s Chapel and then to their classroom, while the older children will go directly to their classroom at 9:30am. Church School will end by 10:15am.

In order for us to properly plan and arrange our classrooms, we ask that ALL families who plan to have their children attend Church School complete a registration form, even if one is on file from prior years. The registration form is included in the September Carillon which is also available on the parish website, or you may obtain one from the parish office. Forms are also available in the MCS Building on Sunday, on the Church School table. Kindly return your completed form to the parish office ASAP.

On Sunday mornings, we will continue to provide a virtual

worship service from Caroline Church, praying for the sick, the most vulnerable, and our health care professionals. In 2 Corinthians 1:7, St. Paul is talking about how he handled unexpected problems, and he says this, "And our hope for you is firm because we know that just as you

share in our sufferings, you'll also share in God's comfort."

WEEKLY BIBLE STUDY CONTINUES ON ZOOM! Our ZOOM based weekly bible study continues to meet on Wednesdays at 2pm. We are currently studying Acts of the Apostles.

If you would like to participate in this remote study group, please email Cn. Richard (Rvisconti@carolinechurch.net) and he will add you to the contact list. Participants will receive a weekly “invitation” from Cn. Richard which will provide the link to ZOOM.
