Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Grace and peace to you! I pray that this newsletter finds you well. I want to share with you a portion of Scripture that has been a guiding light for me as a follower of Jesus Christ on this journey we call The Way:

Who, being in very nature God,

did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing

by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself

by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:6-11)

With this beautiful hymn about Jesus’ descent and exaltation, the Apostle Paul calls us in our relationships to “have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.” And what a task it is! Paul has given us a pattern in Jesus to imitate; to descend from our egos, knowledge, power, and privilege...to empty ourselves for the sake of others. Because this is what Christ has done for us. The most powerful, knowledgeable, and perfect human being has, simply, shown us how to live. True power is in the cross. And it is in living this descent that God will raise us up, as well.

Please use the white Wel-come Card in the pew pocket to add names of those you would like included to our prayer & praise list and place the card in the offering plate, or call the church office.
