Financial  Aid  &  Scholarships  for  Full-­‐Time  Students  in  the  School  of  Communications    

PREAMPLE:  Place  an  “X”  in  the  grayed  box  before  the  name(s)  of  the  scholarship  for  which  you  are   applying.  Scholarships  are  competitive  and  rewarded  as  funds  are  available.    Required  application   materials  must  be  completed  and  submitted  by  the  stated  deadline.      Awards  are  not  automatically   renewed  each  year.  

 

GENERAL  SCHOLARSHIP  OPPORTUNITIES  

   SOC  Board  of  Visitors  Scholarship  (MJFC,  SLMC,  COSD,  CCMS)  Application  Deadlines:  FA14   (July  15)  SP15    (December  15)    Undergraduate  and  graduate  students  currently  enrolled  and  transfers   are  eligible.  

 

   SOC  4.0  GPA  Scholarship  Application  Deadlines:  FA14  (July  15)  SP15    (December  15)   This  scholarship  applies  to  students  with  4.0  GPAs  for  the  preceding  semester.  

 

   SOC  Need  Based  Scholarship  Application  Deadlines:  FA14  (July  15)  SP15    (December  15)   Students  currently  enrolled  and  transfers  are  eligible.    Office  of  Student  Financial  Services  will  verify   EFC  score.

Available  to  majors  in  all  concentrations  Criteria:    Minimum  2.5  GPA  

 

   Fannie  Granton  Scholarship  Application  Deadline:    July  15,  2014  

Available  to  majors  in  all  concentrations  (need  based).  Criteria:    Minimum  2.5  GPA  

 

   Hearst  Application  Deadlines:  FA14  (July  15)  SP15    (December  15)   Available  to  majors  in  all  concentrations.  Criteria:    Minimum  2.5  GPA    

 

JOURNALISM  (PRINT/ONLINE,  BROADCAST)  SCHOLARSHIP  OPPORTUNITIES  

 

     Journalism  Emergency  Fund  Application  Deadlines:  FA14  (July  15)  SP15    (December  15)    Available  to  Print/Online  &  Broadcast  News  majors  only  (emergency  funds).    Criteria:    Must  have   completed  15  credit  hours;  educational  related  needs  only.    Office  of  Student  Financial  Services  will   verify  EFC  score.

Use  this  form  to  guide  you  in  applying  for  scholarships  and  funding  in  the  School  of  Communications.  Do  not  use  this  form   for  scholarships  and  financial  aid  handled  through  the  Howard  University  Financial  Aid  office.    Examples  include:  Athletic   Scholarships,  Federal  Title  IV,  Legacy
