PROGRAM MAP: MASTER OF THEOLOGICAL STUDIES

Units are normally offered fully online or in flexible mode using Adobe Connect or videoconferencing. Some special studies units may be offered on campus in face to face mode.

Students undertake 80 credit points from the list of units below. All students are required to complete a project unit.

A student may only include any particular project or special studies coded unit once in the degree. Any student seeking to undertake a project unit must have permission from the Course Coordinator to do so.

Students who wish to specialise must complete four units from that specialisation (a specialisation may include project or special studies units, where the content and assessment clearly relate to the area of the specialisation).

.

Most specialisations require prior study to have been completed in that discipline, i.e.:

ï‚· A student wishing to undertake a specialisation in Biblical Studies would normally have completed the Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies (The Biblical World) or the Graduate Diploma in Theological Studies (The Biblical World), or equivalent.

ï‚· A student wishing to undertake a specialisation in Christian History would normally have completed THCT503 The Early Christian World, or equivalent.

ï‚· A student wishing to undertake a specialisation in Interfaith Relations would normally have completed the Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies (Interfaith Relations), or equivalent. ï‚· A student wishing to undertake a specialisation in Liturgy would normally have completed the

Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies (Liturgy) or Graduate Diploma in Theological Studies (Liturgy), or equivalent.

ï‚· A student wishing to undertake a specialisation in Ministry would normally have completed THCP512 Effective Ministry: Communication and Processes in Groups and THCP513 Exploring Parish Culture, or equivalent.

ï‚· A student wishing to undertake a specialisation in Philosophy would normally have completed PHIL510 Introducing Philosophy for Theology, or equivalent.

ï‚· A student wishing to undertake a specialisation in Systematic Theology would normally have completed at least 20 cp at 500-level in Systematic Theology units, or equivalent.
