Time for another edition of the “News You Can Use”! For those of you who may be new to our electronic mailing list, we at the Knox Law Center have decided to send out a monthly newsletter to our clients, friends, and family with periodic updates concerning what is going on in the legal community, at the courthouse(s), and in the news. We have also included some fun facts for your reading enjoyment!

Panther Ticket Woes – “What do you mean they’re fake?”

http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2011/09/25/2638925 /some-panthers-fans-duped-with.html#storylink=misearch Notice to all Panthers’ Fans! Beware from whom you buy your tickets on game day. Several fans have fallen victim to the sale of counterfeit tickets. These counterfeit tickets are identical to the authentic ones and you won’t know if they’re fake until the stadium ticket scanners won’t scan them. Advice from those who sell authentic tickets on the Charlotte streets on game day: ask the seller to walk to the gate with you so that you can have them scanned and if they refuse to go, then walk away from the sale”.

The Charlotte Observer posted an article along with the above photo for the “Young Achievers” section of the paper to salute the merits of Mahogany Nelson, a 2011 Summer Intern at the Knox Law Center. Our firm appreciates the opportunity to host such a dedicated and hard-working young lady.

“Child Support Modification”

If you are paying or receiving child support, it is important to periodically check with an attorney to discuss whether you might be entitled to a modification. Child support is generally modifiable every three (3) years. It may also be modified based upon changes in circumstances such as a change in income or a change related to the expenses incurred on behalf of the child or children. Our family law attorneys are available to discuss your situation with you.

“Do I really need a will?”

Do I really need a will? It is important for everyone to execute a will and to keep it in a safe place. Without a will, your property and your assets will be passed along according to North Carolina state probate laws as opposed to your stated intentions. Often the state laws differ significantly from what you might prefer. Having a will drafted is inexpensive and doesn’t take a lot of time. Contact our attorneys today to discuss your situation and your options.

Think Insurance Companies are your Friends? Think Again…

If you have been the victim of an automobile accident, remember that the other party’s insurance company does not exist to help you. The insurer is interested in one thing only: settling your claim as quickly as possible while paying out the minimum. As John Smith of Morgan Hubble recently told MSN Money, “insurance companies didn’t get to be $15 and $20 billion companies because they give money away.”

If you have been injured in an accident due to the negligence of another, don’t be the victim twice by allowing an insurance company to railroad you into settling without the advice of an experienced attorney. One of our personal injury attorneys can advise you of the compensation to which you are entitled.

Denver Days – October 1, 2011

And last but certainly not least, we will send you off with photos from the 2nd annual “Denver’s Got Talent”, one of the many festivities enjoyed by attendees at the 9th annual “Denver Days” fall festival. The photos below show senior partner Eddie Knox thoroughly enjoying serving, not only as a Judge in the competition, but as a talent all his own, cutting the rug alongside some of Denver’s future stars.
