ANDCRAFT Samenvatting:

Traditional handcrafts are an integral part of the culture of Europe. The commonality and diversity of our traditions are at the heart of our understanding and appreciating each other's heritage. The exhibitions, digital data base, moodle, e-book and partnership meetings will all add greatly to the creation of understanding of the importance of traditional handcrafts in the prevention of social exclusion and affirmation of the values of heritage in these skills. The media exposure of the learning partnership (LP) will give the general public a new view on the handcraft traditions on a European and regional level. The LP aims at providing a multicultural space for learning about, appreciating, presenting and experiencing different kinds of traditional handcrafts.

ITIZENSHIP Samenvatting:

This learning partnership (LP) will be a dialogue between partners particularly in relation to the integration of Russian speaking groups into local communities of the EU with the emphasis towards senior groups and to encourage interest activities in culture, history and language. Our aim is to increase the accessibility of adults to non-formal education by recognizing & responding to their wide ranging demands. It is envisaged that more holistic programmes of education can be designed by taking into account the needs identified and through active participation of learners in all stages of the LP. If these needs can be made explicit, adult learners can be supported more effectively in learning. We shall particularly consider e-learning resources. The needs of all stakeholders will be considered but the focus will be on adult learners. The development of tools will be supported by the continuing process of evaluation & review which will involve active participation of learners at every stage. We will share information with main providers of adult education in the countries concerned and disseminate examples of best practice and activate participants for voluntary work. Adults who have successfully managed a career change will be invited to enter a competition to explain their success to others and to participate in the projects. We shall assist seniors in immigrant groups where isolation and loneliness can be a particular problem. We will exchange practical experience as to how we can enable these minority groups (immigrants in age 50+ from ex-USSR) retain their culture & identity, whilst fully integrating into the democratic structures of their new country. In order to achieve these aims we believe that transnational cooperation is essential and the transfer of intercultural knowledge will help us overcome stereotypes.

RAINING ADULTS LEARN EXPLORING NATIVE TALENTS Samenvatting:

In our organisations we have a number of very heterogeneous target groups: adult learners, immigrants, low educated students, students with disabilities, women and men in rural areas and young people at risk of social marginalisation etc. Due to lack of skills and qualifications they were often unsuccessful in former training and education. Taking into account these findings we want to explore and emphasize personal talents and abilities of adult learners instead of only focusing on the needed competences. We want to try to raise the self-esteem of disadvantaged adult learner groups and help them find hidden resources in themselves for finding new challenges in life and work. We plan to search and develop ways and specific methods of exploring and integrating own talents in the learning process of our adult students. The emphasis is not only on viewing the gaps and weaknesses but viewing the possibilities and strengths. By this we want to increase the role of adult learners in their own learning process. We will implement strategies in order to detect the specific talents and needs of the target groups and involve them in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the process. ICT (eTalents) will have a very significant role within the process of improving the abilities of adult learners to adapt themselves to a changing society and to the requirements of the labour market.

TRAVELLING AND DESIGNING YOUR OWN VIEW ON

E

UROPE Samenvatting:

The learning partnership (LP) focuses on two levels:

1) The local level: each country involves a mixed group of people (age, ethnic and economic background, level of education) about EU awareness presenting their own country and the essence of European citizenship. These groups are a learning community: they learn from and with each other.

2) The European level: the different learning communities will also learn from each other by a series of mobilities. Learners will visit and learn about other countries, about other learners’ lives, will discuss what European citizenship means for them. They will take their experiences back home and share them again with the broader group.

The LP is an opportunity for a group of adult learners and staff/educators from six participating partner organisations to get involved in different forms of complex learning and cultural activities, at a variety of informal settings, which would not be overly demanding on participants’ abilities, knowledge and skills, where they would be introduced to art, crafts, heritage, practical and social skills.

This will be achieved through a series of mobilities and meetings undertaken among the partner countries. Informal learning and exchange of experiences, in addition to participants’ previous knowledge, would enhance participants’ talents and individual expressions related to new subjects and help them develop better understanding of the needs and lifestyles of people from other cultures. It will stimulate external European communication and cohesion, for the individuals involved as they who wil become aware that they belong to a larger society.

This LP will also increase professionalism of the educators/trainers, because we will develop and share innovative practices relating to cultural education, diversity and developing learning communities.

OMMUNITIES Samenvatting:

Partners with a community voice come together in this learning partnership (LP) to increase the success of Sustainable Communities across Europe. The UK leads the partnership and works with Sweden, Romania, France, Spain, Lithuania & Belgium to gauge differences, strengths and weaknesses that exist across the EU in the world of drawing people out of exclusion and community engagement practices used. The language of the LP is English.

Long term unemployed volunteers are the Learners in this LP. The Learners are well established within their own community and already giving their time to help others and to make a better place for everyone with more and better opportunities for all. All Learners have a real interest in Community Development. They drive the LP and use their volunteering experience to increase their own skills as well as learning news ways to advance and promote Sustainable Communities.

The project creates a partnership to explore how local governance can become more inclusive. Partners come from different backgrounds so that many different approaches can provide wider benefit and more insight into particular problems. They work together to assess methodologies used in each country and build a new Model for Community Engagement. The challenges faced by disadvantaged communities are identified in each country. Existing tools and practices are the starting point for developing a new good practice European Model for Community Engagement. Learners take part in all activities including visits to partner countries, hosting visitors to their own country, preparing meetings and social events, drafting and editing materials, organising transport, writing reports and they drive the evaluation process.

A seminar is held in each partner country and a Project Operational Report is published. Samenstelling van het consortium:

CTIVE Samenvatting:

The learning partnership (LP) is composed by organisations involved in the study, development and delivery of training activities to increase the level of digital literacy and active citizenship of elderly people.

The partners are interested in learning and to transfer and localize the methodology developed by the “G&G - Grandparents and Grandchildren” initiative which is co-financed by the e-learning programme and extended within the Grundtvig Partnership project "G&G Enhancement" that received the European LLP 2010 Award ICT for social inclusion.

Started in Italy the G&G experience is now disseminated in other 10 European countries supported by a website and on-line training units available in 13 different European languages.

The very friendly pedagogical approach, the low cost in the organisation of the training seminars for elderly people, ensured by the role of students as volunteer “digital educators”, and the easiness in finding support and sponsorship by local stakeholders, guarantee to the initiative a significant social impact on the local communities and ensure high visibility and sustainability. Besides, the inter-generational learning process fosters a cultural encounter between young people, the “grandchildren”, and adult learners, the “grandparents”, which transforms the “digital divide” in a “digital joining”.

The partnership is interested in widing the G&G network, allowing new members to adopt the teaching materials and making them available in their own language, thus increasing the number of languages in which the G&G resources will be available (from 13 to 17). At the same time, the partnership will try to identify new areas of enhancement for the G&G initiative by defining specifications for new products and services to be developed in the future.

WARENESS FOR LANDSCAPE

-

INSPIRING CIVIC RESPONSIBILITY Samenvatting:

The learning partnership (LP) includes different partners from adult education that will exchange their knowledge about methods to foster awareness rising for landscape in informal adult education. Therefore each partner will organise a 3-day-seminar to demonstrate their own method and to discuss it with the partners. The basic structure of the seminars will:

- Day 1 + 2: Demonstration

- Day 3: Reflexion and special issue

All partners will participate at the seminars. Additionally the host can invite some other persons to the seminar (regional or local partners, participants from former seminars, etc).

Every seminar will also deal with a special issue chosen by the partners. We will use half a day for this special issue. This part can be organised by the host or one of the partners. Special issues:

1) Community building; 2) Update seminar;

3) Methods and instruments for evaluation;

4) Quality management (Quality of learning, teach the teachers); 5) Certification of the seminars.

These specials issues together with the recommendations during the different seminars will be used to compile a guideline for "Awareness rising for landscape in informal Adult Education". Every partner will provide a brief description of their method combined with background material.

In the end we will publish the different methods, the recommendations and the guidelines on an internet site that will be provided by CIVILSCAPE. Depending on additional funding we will try to publish the results in a printed brochure or booklet.

ISABILITY Samenvatting:

The "LOOK BEYOND DISABILITY" learning partnership (LP) aims at providing informal learning opportunities for people with disabilities to help overcome barriers that exclude them from participating fully in society. Project partners all work with persons with various disabilities, on different levels, and they are willing and open to share their experiences and best practices in this field..

Drawing from their know-how and experiences so far, and from current needs analyses, partners aim at developing innovative ways of "crossing over" beyond disability, achieving higher degree of participation and integration, while involving persons with disabilities at each stage of the process. This includes exploration of the User Led Organisations model, ICT applications, as well as involvement of persons with disabilities in self-advocacy and volunteer activities.

In the present Grundtvig partnership, we propose to develop tools and practices both on the local and international level. With learners' active participation, each organisation will provide a program meof local activities, suitable for the local context, and share their experience with international partners. Many of these activities will cross-over and overlap, as partners' learners and staff participate in joint workshops, open events, and study visits, clustered around six LP meetings. Each meeting will be in a different partner country, attended by learners and staff using their allocated project mobilities. This will provide inspiration and added value in learning from each other.

The LP process will be documented in a "project diary", which will later be compiled into an "Experience Book" (a toolkit/handbook of innovative tools and practices developed as a result of the Grundtvig partnership, freely accessible to all).

BASED LEARNING FOR OLDER ADULTS Samenvatting:

Games-based learning offers an innovative pedagogic approach, supporting active learning and enhanced engagement. However, most of the research in this area has focused on young people and not taken account of the different expectations, motivations, needs and preferences of older people, despite the growing number of both older learners and older gamers we are seeing today. This learning partnership (LP) aims to develop a network of interested researchers, teachers and learners in order to collate and share best practice in the design and use of games-based learning with people over the age of 50 years.

ETTING TOGETHER

:

NEW WAYS OF INCLUDING NEWCOMERS IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY Samenvatting:

Integration of migrants is an important issue for the development of European unity.

The aim of this learning partnership (LP) 'Getting together: new ways of including newcomers in the local community' is to develop ways of improving inclusivity of migrants through the medium of informal learning situations which bring locals and migrants together. The informal situations will include work-based activities, health related activities and leisure activities.

All the partners will focus primarily on one informal situation for acquiring language skills and cultural understanding. The Belgian partner will focus upon migrants learning language and culture whilst learning, with their local peers, to cook local dishes. The Finnish partner will focus upon migrants learning the Finnish languages and culture whilst undertaking sport and leisure activities with local citizens. The Norwegian partner will focus upon the leisure activity of walking and talking in groups. This is a popular activity in Norway and it introduces walkers, locals and migrants, to local history and culture and provides opportunities for migrants to develop their language skill and understanding of Norwegian culture and understanding of the migrants’ culture and current lifestyles. The Turkish partner will focus upon improving the skills of the migrants in the Turkish language and deepening their understanding of Turkish culture. The major task will be exploring ways of motivating migrants to learn the Turkish language and culture through the use of active methods of learning. All partners will explore the different informal methods and learning environments, used in the four countries, experiment with these methods in their organisations and reflect on the results.

EARNING COMMUNITY Samenvatting:

The Quality Centre has taken the initiative to set up a learning partnership (LP) with three countries in Europe: Belgium, the United Kingdom and Denmark. The result of this initiative is laid down in this document. What all the involved organisations have in common, is that they focus on female refugees that have a permit to work. This is a large group that in all of the countries of the LP is under represented in the labour market, while often their potential is high. The aim of the LP is to create a learning community and network. The focus of the partnership is on education. An exchange program is created in which visits are organised in each country over a period of two years. The following themes form the framework of the program: social inclusion, empowerment, organisational learning and entrepreneurship. Each country will organise two visits. These visits will consist of exchange and transfer of knowledge, learning and definition of best practices. The objective is to strengthen the position of female refugees and thus create the conditions for them to integrate in the labour market. It is also a means to stimulate an intercultural dialogue and to create the opportunity to set up an international network with similar goals. The Quality Centre in Utrecht will coordinate the LP. Each country will install an organising committee that has as main task to develop an interesting program for the visits. Learning goals per visit will be defined that will act as indicator to measure the success of the visit. At the end of the 2-year period of the LP, a conference will be organised in which the results of the program will be presented. It is additionally a means to disseminate the knowledge and lessons acquired amongst a larger audience.

XCHANGE OF METHODOLOGIES IN EDUCATION OF DETAINEES Samenvatting:

This learning partnership (LP) has been "inspired" from a previous project experience about autobiography as a way to prevent and fight marginalisation and social exclusion of detainees (“Little stories, great hopes”). The mentioned LP has resulted significantly effective and the partner from Belgium was awarded from EAEA in 2010. The partners had the possibility to compare their methodologies of approach to the detainees as well as the education measures concretely adopted. Considering the variety and differences regarding permanent education in prison environments - partly due to the heterogeneous teaching experiences of the educators involved - we aim to continue the cooperation involving several institutions (non-profit, educational and vocational training ones, among others) in order to improve and widen the operators' competences.

Each partner organisation will share its own methodologies, particularly focusing on significant experiences that may be experimented in different contexts by the other partners. Attention will be paid to any possible criticism too, in order to modify and make effective the interventions.

The goal of the LP is letting professionals operating in prison environments acquire skills which can support the detainees in overcoming any possible relational obstacle which, together with the physical barriers of detention, may prevent them from positive communication.

Samenvatting:

GI WHAT - Gender Issues - Why Hide A Truth? -- is a Grundtvig learning partnership (LP) established as an interdisciplinary effort to disentangle the complexity of gender issues throughout Europe, raise awareness and understanding of the different aspects of gender issues, including differences and similarities among the partners, and to formulate strategies to implement the results in Adult Education.

Based on their experience and context, the partners will focus on the local situation of gender-problems as well for students as for staff, for the students in their further career after getting their diploma, for the staff in their application for jobs, for promotions and professional career. The partners have identified six general areas in which gender issues exist and in which Adult Education could make a difference: work; education; the social domain; family; culture; awareness and empowerment.

Through a series of workshops, each one focussing on one specific domain, organised during LP meetings in different countries, the LP will address these aspects of gender issues. Each workshop will include a general framework, the discussion of examples of good practice and problems, and the design of appropriate strategies to address specific issues in Adult Education in the different partner institutions and countries.

Between the LP meetings, partners will implement the insights gained through the cooperation in their own institutions, as well as through their networks.

Project management information at the beginning and a short final audit in the end will ensure that the quality management of the LP is supported by the whole team under the supervision of the coordinator.

Through LLL, the LP hopes to contribute to a more gender-equal society. Samenstelling van het consortium:

EARNING Samenvatting:

This learning partnership (LP) it intends to contribute to a broader social and educational participation of the marginalised group of prisoners. Experts and staff from penal institutions and organisations providing education in prison will exchange about opportunities to enhance the transition from the prison back to society. The focus will be on educational approaches promoting the (re)constitution of employability and a lifelong learning attitude of offenders. Different models of networking between the “inside” and the “outside” will be examined.

The LP adopts a holistic approach assuming that the social reintegration of (ex) offenders starts from the day of admission in prison and doesn’t stop at the gates at the day of release. Education in prison is one pathway to successful reintegration among others, such as work and qualification, family, accommodation and rehabilitation. These pathways are closely related to each other and need to be adjusted in a meaningful way which requires the collaboration of all actors and institutions involved. The learning partnership will be started with the systematisation of existing transition and assessment models and the specification of the needs in the participating prisons. Examples of Good Practice will be identified and the transferability of approaches, instruments and tools will be evaluated.

Through study visits and work seminars, the LP will examine this complex reality and challenge. As a result of the collaboration, the partners will formulate a catalogue of recommendations and develop a model how to improve the social participation of adult prisoners through an improved transition from the prison to the society which will be broadly disseminated within both European and national networks.

UROPE Samenvatting:

Regarding the present day risk-society, there’s a lack of competencies of elderly in the ability to cope with problems in daily life. According to the Alliance for Health & The Future, the group of vulnerable elderly is growing and in 2050 an estimated 35 percent of the European population will be over the age of 60. Taking the ongoing development of the knowledge-based society, the individualisation and globalisation into account, this group risks social exclusion. To prevent social exclusion, the OECD confirms that learning has to be seen as one of the basic needed services in European society. More concrete, the European study of EDAM shows that 32,9% among marginalised people in European society experience a decrease of loneliness after joining courses of education. The consortium will realise new educational tools in combination with arts and ICT to improve the social skills and enhance durable participation of the elderly in the European society. First of all a scientific analysis of research of education for disadvantaged learners (including elderly) will be done. The analysis results in a model of success-factors for senior learning. Based on this model every partner develops an innovative learning-area for elderly by using ICT and arts. The used methods and experiences will be combined in the European SMARTE-tool-kit and website of active ageing, which will be launched by exploitation-events for local and regional professionals and volunteers in every country of the consortium. The scientific analysis, the construction of the success-model for senior learning and realisation of the innovative learning-areas, the tool-kit and exploitation-events will have a significant contribution for a durable activation and social inclusion of elderly starting during the European Year of "Active Ageing".

Samenvatting:

Seniors (over 50) from Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Poland, Slovenia and Spain should be in future more than neighbours in Europe.

The seniors will study and describe:

- The progressing of the neighbourhood relation under the influence of the EU development and the changes (political, social, economical; deindustrialization, ageing population) in the countries concerned;

- The forming up of a European identity. The seniors will analyse the roots of their own identity, of common ground and differences in the partner countries and the role of different migrant groups. The findings will be exchanged and compared with their partners in an open-minded way leading to an advanced European identity;

- The inter-generational relation under the influence of the demographic development having brought up an ageing population. The seniors want to pass on their experience of life and to understand the growing up of the young persons;

- The development of the industrial culture taking into consideration both the industrial heritage as the source of the European prosperity and the ongoing deindustrialisation in these days. The preservation of historic industrial achievements as monuments should be a must in order to have an opportunity of demonstrating the inventive genius of our forebears.

The organisations active in different fields of Adult Education will guide the shared dialogue between the seniors of different countries and between elderly and young persons; they will help to improve intercultural communication skills.

The seniors will communicate via Internet, by correspondence and by discussion in the project seminars. The whole learning partnership (LP) will be a learning process for better understanding of Europeans considering particularly the challenges of an ageing population.

EARNING Samenvatting:

In this learning partnership (LP) we will focus on the implementation and systematic use of Assessment for Learning, AFL and formative assessment, to improve the quality in Adult Education. The participating countries are Belgium, Norway, Finland, Ireland, Iceland and Cyprus, which gives us a good image of a European dimension. The participating organisations are experienced in the field of integration training.

The first target group are second language teachers for immigrant learners in adult education. The second target group includes immigrant learners whose learner skills will be improved.

The aim of the LP is sharing best practice and assessment approaches. The partnership will focus on: - AFL in practise by diagnosing learning needs and setting goals,

- Use of peer assessment, - Giving feedback,

- Use of questioning and scaffolding, - Developing learning autonomy, - Recognition of learner progress.

During the LP we will develop materials linked to language levels A1 to B2 for formative assessment. Materials will be piloted in each participating organisation. Afterwards these materials will be used in all participating organisations and in other organisations who wish to use the resource packs.

We will have five transnational meetings. We will start with a theoretical introduction by Professor Gordon Stobart (expert in formative assessment) in Oslo.

During a series of workshops, teachers from the partner organisations network will pool their materials, they will evaluate these materials and this will be an evolving process. They will be able to observe and share best practice.

The participating organisations will evaluate the outcomes, the results and the involvements of the partners of the LP during the last meeting for example by a Swot-analysis.

ATERFRONTS Samenvatting:

This Learning Partnership (LP), as a framework for European and international intercultural dialogue, draws together organisations with a shared interest in impact of culture on their rivers/waterfronts. Culture is a tool for bringing people together – city inhabitants, city planners, city authorities, media, business sector - and engaging them in the debate on condition and future of European cities. This LP is intended to identify and strengthen the impact of culture on diverse aspects of waterfront regeneration e.g. volunteering/civil society involvement, public space/city planning, environment, sustainable development, governance etc.;

LP main activities:

Initial phase: design a methodology for research and case studies, a scheme for the workshops and a template for each meeting’s conclusions.

Seven seminars for face-to-face meetings (open to local community) to be held in each partner city. Each seminar will have similar structure and will be devoted to the specific aspect of impact of culture combining presentations of case studies with practice: workshops with process leaders to search for practical solutions of local problem connected to the meeting’s topic that will lead to creation of recommendations, both local and universal. Each host will identify local issues that will inform and shape the current meeting, as well as will find local target groups to participate in the workshops to profit from our contribution.

Through this LP good practices will be identified, possibilities explored and then, new models of cooperation drafted. All of those activities aiming at contribution to a greater understanding of the role of culture in the development of cities, regions and achieving the EU goal to become a smart, sustainable and inclusive economy.

EDIA Samenvatting:

This learning partnership (LP) is about getting to know the possibilities of social media as a tool for marketing language learning and implementing the best working media in the organisations of the participants. Social media with its many forms, internet forums, weblogs, social blogs, micro blogging, wikis, podcasts, social bookmarking, Facebook, Twitter… have turbocharged the ways we communicate. In this LP, management and other staff of institutions active in foreign language, users of foreign language teaching services (individuals and employers) and experts in marketing want to set up a think-tank to explore the possibilities of social media for promoting adult language learning. We want to elaborate strategies to make an efficient use of the limitless offer of social media.

- To attract adults to language learning - To reach difficult to contact target groups

- To foster awareness of the need of knowing foreign languages.

The focus will be put on the marketing aspect, not on the use of social media for language learning as such.

The presence in the LP of the organisation West Street Marketing (WSM) will enable this focus to be enhanced given their experience of delivering live campaigns in a commercial environment. At the same time WSM staff have wide experience of supporting educational institutions including how to market themselves.

The LP will be developed in the following stages:

1) Analyse the marketing needs of the organisations;

2) Getting to know the possibilities of social media within the framework of the marketing needs of the organisations;

3) Match the needs of language learning organisations with the offer from the social media; 4) Foster sustainability of marketing tools.
