Hello to all the Members,

Well another eventful and interest-ing month of July. Due to the heat and rain storms, many outdoor ac-tivities have been cancelled. We even had to cancel the Cruisin for Charity in the parking lot since it was raining.

I would like to thank all the MOB members who participated in Gerry Shaffer's Celebration for Life activities we had in July. We surely will miss him.

We will be having our August meeting and I encourage everyone to attend because there will be important news to be discussed.

Drive Safely. Thanks,

President John Capua

Showin Car Show

by Mark Walther

Several members of the MOB showed up to sup-port Showin’s Car Show on July 11th supporting Boy Scout Troop 734 with 4 cars at Cruisin’ Gold in Melbourne. The weather was hot with little breeze and people scram-bled to find shade. Even though it was a hot summer day there were a lot beautiful cars at the show. The Mus-tang Club showed up in force taking the club participation award. MOB Members in atten-dance were, John Capua, Mark Walther, Douglas Carroll, and Neil Hersman. We also talked to a potential new member from up North (NY) with an awesome Dart GT. Mark Walther won 1st place in the MOPAR category. Here are some pictures of the event:

Poor Little ‘V’

By Nancy Neal

Poor little “V”. I knew I was adopted by the mighty MOB (MoPar of Brevard) and yes, I am a little different. First, am old, but not old enough to be a classic. I am dented and bruised and scratched and not well respected by the shiny polished freshly painted and freshly chromed classics or those big Dodge trucks nor those super charged cars with their Hemis.

But my owner loved me, “V” and was faithful to the club which she loved as well. She appreciated the fact that “V” kept on running because she didn’t have car payment. Whenever the club gathered, my owner always tried to park away from the real Chrysler cars because she knew I was only adopted and did not look like them. When we did group pictures of Mobsters and their cars, we were never invited into the shot. My owner could be in the people shots but not me…Poor Ugly “V”.

At least we got to run with the gang. I loved the Cruise In’s where we raised money for charity even if I was never on display. Wouldn’t people gasp if they looked under my hood…no hemi, no chrome, no shiny clean motor. I just have an old 1998 engine that has been used and abused. I have no shiny neon lights or fresh paint, but my worst feature is that I am a STATION WAGON.

But the club members never discriminated against me, poor ugly “V”. They looked be-yond my features and just prayed that my owner would see the light and get a Chrysler/ Dodge product.

Then one day, in January, during the Super Swap at the Wickham Pavilion, Pete Stasio was beside himself. Somehow, the ticket takers has used up all the one dollar bills he had gotten for the Super Swap. He tried to get a member of the Mobsters to go to a bank to get some ones, but they were all working at their assigned tasks and their shiny cars and trucks were all on display. There was no one, nor any available vehicle to meet the need. But my owner came to the rescue. I was parked out in the general parking area (being adopted and all) so we could get out easily and go to the bank. We rushed out to get the needed singles and rushed back. It was a good thing that I,“V” was not in the show so that I could come to the rescue.

I guess it’s good to be different sometimes. “V” is old and beat up but is still useful. People are like that too. We just sometimes have to find our place.

At the next club meeting at Tony’s, my owner and me (“V”) were recognized for our extra effort during the Super Swap. I was finally proud to be a V70 Volvo.

Car Parts Needed

Front fenders for a 73-74 charger.

I'm in need of two rust free and dent free front fenders for a 73-74 charger. I'm get-ting the car ready to go paint and the body shop told me to see about getget-ting an-other set as the ones I have are pretty bad shape and would be very costly to fix. I may buy a whole car if the price is right. I am pressed for time and have a month to find the parts.
