Each tool set is provided in a 2-colour, routed foam, drawer insert.
• Straightforward identification and selection of each tool provides clear view of any missing tools
• Designed to fit AST Tool Cabinets such as AST-RC7
Each tool set is individual and specific to the vehicle maker, and is complete with routed foam insert(s) which require either a full or partial drawer area (dependant on the number of timing tools in the set).
Each set provides good application coverage of the vehicle maker’s range. As a modular system, you can select the sets which are most appropriate to the main marques encountered in the workshop and add further sets to them, as required.

• The identification & LOCATION of each timing tool in the insert

AST6017 is required for spark plug removal/installation on direct injection BMW petrol engines with codes N43, N53 & N54
These engines require a very ‘thin walled’ socket in order to reach the spark plug and locate correctly onto the 14mm Bi-Hex. Standard spark plug sockets foul the walls of the cylinder head and do not reach the spark plug.

AST5129 Oil Filter Housing Removal/Installation Tool is for use on the Peugeot/Citroën 2.0 and 2.2 HDi Engines.
The oil filter housing is removed using the 27mm bi-hex spanner.
AST5129 is required on the DW10C and DW12C engines where it is not possible to locate onto the oil filter housing from above due to the inlet system restricting access.
The spanner has been designed in order to avoid the inlet system and wiring loom next to the oil filter housing. The ½” square drive allows a torque wrench to be used when refitting the PLASTIC oil filter housing. The correct torque is marked on the housing (25Nm) and should be followed.

Before fitting AST5129 Oil Filter Housing Tool, lift the oil filler cap upwards and out of its clip allowing AST5129 to be fitted to the oil filter.

AST6105 3 Piece Low Profile Socket Set is suitable for engines with plastic oil filter housings and replaceable-cartridge oil filters.
The housing can be removed using one the sockets either 27, 32 or 36mm A/F
allowing the cartridge oil filters to be changed. The ½” square drive allows a torque wrench to be used when refitting the plastic oil filter housing.
AST6023 Diesel Fuel Filter Socket is for use on the Peugeot/Citroën 2.0 and 2.2 HDi/TDCi Engines where the fuel filter housing is removed using a slotted 27mm 6 sided socket.

COOLANT HOSE CLAMPS – constant pressure clamps (sometimes referred to as “Flat Band Clips”). Widely fitted on coolant and heater hoses in the engine compartment, these hose clips are often in areas difficult to access, why both Remote access and Special Angled Pliers are included the Set together with the required Hose Release Hook

AST4689 Dummy Glow Plug Adaptor Update Set contains four NEW dummy glow plug adaptors, with M8, M9 and M10 threads – these are AST4686-48, ‘-61’, ‘-62’ and ‘-70’.
AST4689 adaptor set is compatible with all AST Diesel Compression test equipment.
*AST4686-xx adaptors can be converted to AST4686-xxNV adaptors by removal of the non-return valve. However, non-return valves should only be installed one time and must be tightened to the correct torque value.
Note: A new valve will be required should the user wish to convert any adaptor to Diesel Compression format.

Cylinder Leakage Testing – An overview
Cylinder Leakage testing provides a more diagnostic approach to determining compression or cylinder/head problem areas that the normal compression test routines.
When performing a cylinder leakage test, air is introduced to the regulator at a constant and pre-set rate. The air loss is then shown on the gauge scale as a percentage of the air that enters the cylinder.
It is introduced to each cylinder in turn and the rate of loss of air from each cylinder is registered as a percentage, higher percentages indicating more serious faults. Additionally the point at which the air escapes provides an indication as to the problem area
