Hi everyone,

2015 Presentation night was a special night for our club to celebrate the achievements of players this season. I would like to congratulate all players this season for being outstanding in their sportsmanship and behaviour. You have all done yourselves and our club proud. To the many volunteers and helpers, we thank you so much for giving of your time helping our teams compete. Our 2015 season was one to remember for lots of reasons.

We had all teams but two play finals and three Grand Finals contested for one winner and two runner ups. Our club had Cooper Portelli and Kalinda Howarth selected into the Australian Teams. We had other players make South Coast and State teams showing us our players are going in the right direction.

Our Senior Club teams won the QAFL Grand Final for the Senior and Reserve Grades. For our first premiership in 21 years and we got two.

Our Best and Fairest players deserve mention for a stellar season:

Josh Young 12s Division 2 Cody Harrison 12s Division 1 Billy Evers 13s Division 1 James Mohr 15s Division 3 Jarrod Mills 15s Division 1 Laikyn Dove 15s Girls Kalinda Howarth 17s Girls

Well done for a great year at our club.

A special accolade was presented to Paul Sherriff as he was awarded Life Membership for his long association with and commitment to our club. Our club thanks Paul for his contribution.

In all it was a nice night of celebration for the right reasons. The players and coaching staff have conducted themselves in fine style this season. To the people behind the scenes; the water runners, trainers, goal umpires, team managers, time keepers, scoreboard attendants and kiosk helpers your time given this season has been gratefully received. Without your help we do not operate. There are so many tasks that make a game day success our club duly salutes you.

Labrador Tigers Junior AFC AGM will be held on November 9 at 6:00pm in the upstairs function room of Tigers Sports Club.

2015 Senior Premiership Grand Finals

It was fantastic to see so many of our juniors there in support. For those that went to Yeronga it was a day to remember. First up our Reserve grade came out and we dominated to get the game under control by half time and duly salute. This was our first Premiership in 21 years. Then the seniors came out with a big first quarter to go into the break well in control. But then Morningside does what they do best for so many seasons they got back into the game to lead by three

at half time. The third was tight and hard, going end to end with great footy. The final quarter started 70-70, with the wind the opposition, the crowd thought they may have us. It was them who got out by two goals only for one of our finest in Todd Featherstone to put one through and ignite our supporters and players alike. You could feel the moment was a game changer and we held on to win one tough grand final. To our Senior Club players and coaching staff the Labrador Juniors congratulate you on your achievements. Steve Daniel and Jarrod Fields have over two seasons got our club in the right direction. The culture, the coaches and players have been a great role model for the junior club to follow. 2015 was a year to remember at our club and will be talked about for the right reasons. The year of the Tigers. Cooper Portelli is to travel to South Africa to play for the national team. We are fundraising to help him get there with a 100 Raffle which is 100 tickets at $100. The winner will receive $5,000 and the remaining $5,000 will contribute towards getting Cooper to South Africa

competing for our country. If you can help contact Paul Sherriff or Bob Rayner.

Our club will announce our summer skills sessions dates in upcoming weeks. We have held these sessions over the past four seasons with each year growing in numbers. Last year was a great year with girls included. This gives new players a chance to get used to our training and learn skills before being thrown into a game. This program is for our 12 years upwards and is free to our club members. You get the training shirt/singlet to those who enrol.

So you will keep getting news until after the finals then monthly until next season. See you soon and good luck in the finals.

2015 Annual General Meeting

Dear LJAFC 2015 Member,

The AGM will be held on Monday 9th November 2015 6:00pm upstairs in the Labrador Sports

Club Function Room. Doors will be open at 5:30pm.

Voting can be done either by attending the AGM and casting a vote in person or by requesting a Proxy Vote Form. An individually numbered Proxy Vote Form can only be obtained directly from the Secretary via email labjunafc@hotmail.com and will then need to be submitted at the AGM by your Proxy. All proxy voting forms are to be submitted by 6:00pm on Thursday 5th November 2015.

Voting by proxy is a convenient way of voting if you are unable to get to the AGM. By proxy’ means that you give written authorization for someone else to cast your vote on your behalf as per completion of an individually numbered form. All Proxy forms when received at the AGM will be marked off against the register and the individually issued number.

If you are attending the AGM you will be asked to collect a voting form upon arriving and these will be issued per registered player. For example if you have one child registered only one parent or care giver can vote. If you have three children registered you are entitled to three votes.

FUNDRAISER GETAWAYS

Hi Everyone,

We are about to rollout a fundraising campaign to help raise much need funding for our club we would like to ask for your support and assistance.

Our fundraising partner Fundraiser Getaways is supplying vouchers in books of 5 for each player to take home and sell to family, friends and neighbors.

Every supporter who buys a voucher will gain access to a supporter’s only website where they will find discounts, bonuses and exclusive deals on accommodation, theme park admissions, tours and attractions, wines, travel, including domestic and international flights and cruises as well as campervan and car hire.

This fundraiser is not a raffle - because everyone is a winner. Everyone that buys a voucher can achieve significant savings, by simply using the supporter's only website.

Plus there is a bookseller’s prize. Every family that sells their book of 5 vouchers will go into a draw to win weekend’s accommodation for a family to the Gold Coast.

We will send the booklets home with the players next week and ask for your support in this important fund raising program. Thanks in advance for your support!

Our Club Theme Song

Oh we're from Tigerland

A fighting fury

We're from Tigerland

In any weather you will see us with a grin

Risking head and shin

If we're behind then never mind

We'll fight and fight and win

For we're from Tigerland.

We never weaken till the final siren's gone
