DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS

Department of Economics was established at the same time as the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences in 1958 and has been offering Bachelors Degree in Economics since. The Department offers courses on a wide range of subjects such as Economic Theory, Economic Policy, Economic History, Economic Development and International Economics.

The students are prepared for careers in such sectors as banking, insurance, management and consulting; as well as for various departments and offices in the national government. Students may also attend Graduate School for higher degrees in economics and business.

Information about the courses

M ost courses are compulsory, but there is a range of electives to choose from. Depending on their choice of electives, students may get specialisation in different subjects. The duration of studies is four years, divided into eight semesters. At the end of each semester, final examinations are held for courses given during the semester. After completing their studies, graduates can follow post-graduate studies. The Department offers its own Master's program.

The Master's Program is open to most competent students possessing a B.A. in Economics or related disciplines and a good command of English. Some of them may continue their studies in order to get a Ph.D.

All Undergraduate students at the Economics Department are required to take 20 credits per semester. This is the normal workload for a semester of study. A normal workload for an academic year?s study is therefore 2 x 20 = 40 credits. Economics Department of Anadolu University credits may be converted into ECTS credits by a multiple of 1.5 so that 40 credits = 60 ECTS credits.

PROGRAM IN ECONOMICS (ENGLISH)

Department of Economics was established at the same time as the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences in 1958 and has been offering Bachelors Degree in Economics since. The Department offers courses on a wide range of subjects such as Economic Theory, Economic Policy, Economic History, Economic Development and International Economics.

The students are prepared for careers in such sectors as banking, insurance, management and consulting; as well as for various departments and offices in the national government. Students may also attend Graduate School for higher degrees in economics and business.

Information about the courses

Most courses are compulsory, but there is a range of electives to choose from.

Registration Procedures for Erasmus/ECTS students

All Undergraduate students at the Economics Department are required to take 20 credits per semester. This is the normal workload for a semester of study. A normal workload for an academic year’s study is therefore 2 x 20 = 40 credits. Economics Department of Anadolu University credits may be converted into ECTS credits by a multiple of 1.5 so that 40 credits = 60 ECTS credits.
