FIT scheduled 6 weekly flights extra during winter to Germany

This increase mean 1.134 places more each week. The tour operator FTI and its subsidiary Meeting Point Spain have presented an offer for Fuerteventura for the winter season 2013 – 2014. The forecast is an increase of 6 weekly flights, which means the highest forecast of the Canary Islands for FTI.

The presentation of the winter season 2013 – 2014 was held in the airport of Fuerteventura. The chairman of CEO-FTI Group, Dietmar Gunz, explained that “these six extra flights will take off from six different German cities and will land in Fuerteventura at the same hour”. The objective is save costs in all the chain of all services until the arrival to the hotel.

The director of CMO-FTI Group, Ralph Schiller, announced that the objective of the brand is grow in the canary islands (where they see Fuerteventura as the island with more projection) until become the second or third tour operator in Canary Islands”.

The decrease of capacity of Air Berlin in a lot of tourist destinations has increased the prices of the tickets. In this situation, FTI-Meeting Point Spain have decided advance part of their pacification for the winter 2013 – 2014 and from

July will incorporate four weekly planes between different German cities and Fuerteventura.

The evolution of FTI in Fuerteventura have been upward, a tendency that will maintain during the next winter season. The number are: 2009 -2010 b r o u g h t 5 5 . 0 0 0 G e r m a n t o u r i s t s t o Fuerteventura; in 2010 – 2011 over 70.000 tourists, in 2011 – 2012 almost 80.000; and the present season 2012 -2013 the forecast is much higher than 80.000.

In this tendency, the tour operator will incresae the Schedule of flights between Germany and Fuerteventura for the Winter 2013 -2014 with six new weekly charter flights during all season with the company Sun Express.

FTI is actually the fourth group in the tourist sector in Germany and is composed by 18 comercial brands, all of them connected with tourism. They have 30 years of experience in the sector and transport 3.5 millions of clients around the world.

the connections of

Fuerteventura with

Italy

Blas Acosta: “The attitude of the European Tour operators a n d a i r l i n e s s h o w t h e attractive of Fuerteventura and the promotional work of the Fuerteventura Tourist Board, getting an amazing numbers considering the international crisis and the air taxes”.

The Italian Airline, Meridiana Fly, reinforces the connections between Fuerteventura and different Italian cities. Already the company is flying to Milán and Verona, in May will start to flight to Roma, and in summer will include an additional flight to Verona. This schedule is the result of the efforts of the Fuerteventura Tourist Board in the Italian market, and the bet that the travel agents have for our destination.

t h e I t a l i a n m a r k e t . T h e participation with its own stand in the main fair of Italy had interesting results for the Tourism sector in the island as this new connection with Verona plus the flight that already had Fuerteventura with the Italian city.

The flights scheduled by M e r i d i a n a F l y a r e e v e r y Monday until 4th of November to Milan and Verona, from 6th of May until September, every Monday to Roma and also between July and September another flight extra to Verona. The high expenditure of those c l i e n t s i n t h e i s l a n d i s connected with the services they get in Fuerteventura. The Actions Plan that the Fuerteventura Tourist Board has for 2013 have some

objective for the Italian market as highlight the quality of the restaurants and the gastronomic offer of the i s l a n d , i m p r o v e t h e a i r connections and increase the number of local touristic guides with high level of Italian language.

The final goal is positioning the island in the Italian market helped by the main tour operators, because of that the Fuerteventura Tourist Board met in the BIT of Milán tour operators as Meridiana fly, Alpitour, Settemari, Twizz, American Express In and Viaggi I t a l i a . L a s t y e a r v i s i t e d Fuerteventura 73.882 tourists from Italy.

“The key for any island and its economy is maintaining fluid connections with other territories, either for the entrance or the exit of people and products”. The recovery of the flights is essential for the tourist sector and for the residents in Fuerteventura”.

“The decrease of 9.7% of the air traffic should be enough for revise carefully some policies. In the current context the recovering of flights and the reinforce of the existing routes are a really great news”.

For this summer, during the months of July and August, Iberia Express have scheduled two frequencies from Fuerteventura to Madrid. To this reinforce of Iberia Express with Madrid have to be added the regular flights of Air Europa and Ryanair and the charter flights of Orbest.

On other hand, the airline Vueling will start the routes on March b e t w e e n F u e r t e v e n t u r a a n d Barcelona, on Wednesdays and Sundays, and during June, July and August will include another flight on Saturdays.

This reinforce of the connection of Fuerteventura with Spain Mainland is thanks to agreements made by the Fuerteventura Tourist Board during the last fair of Fitur.

The decrease of the national tourism is general for all destinations. Last year came to Fuerteventura 166.000 visitors for Spain. Fuerteventura arranged in Fitur important co-marketing agreements with Viajes El Corte Inglés for use the audio system of all centers of El Corte Inglés and Hipercor of the country as a promotion platform of Fuerteventura in the national market.

The agreement include other activities in the national territory as the insertion of advertising the web of Viajes El Corte Inglés and other advertising in national press as El País, El Mundo, ABC, 20 minutos, La Razón and El Periódico de Cataluña and in radios as Onda Cero, Punto Radio, Cope and Cadena 100, during June and July of 2013.

Fuerteventura with Warsaw, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford and Manchester

The airlines Air Berlin and Jet2 have announced the opening of new connections between Fuerteventura and the british cities of Glasgow, Leeds Bradford and Manchester, apart of the polish city of Warsaw which means a reinforce of the tourist sector of the island. Blas Acosta said that “increase the air connections it is a priority for any destination so the news of Air Berlin and Jet2 are good news for the tourist sector”.

As informed the Fuerteventura Tourist Board, on 6th of May will start the new connection between Warsaw and Fuerteventura by Air Berlin. The Fuerteventura Tourist Board has reminded that Poland is the “more increasing market” in Fuerteventura in the last years.

On other hand, the British airlines Jet2 and its tour operator Jet2 Holidays, have started to sale flights to Fuerteventura for the summer 2014 to cumply with the campaign that they have with the Fuerteventura Tourist Board.

The flights come from the airports of Glasgow, Leeds Bradford and Manchester every Friday from 4th of April, except the flights from Manchester that will be made on Tuesdays.

Fuerteventura intensify the promotion of the direct flights from Barcelona

The Fuerteventura Tourist Board have been in the XXII “Salón Internacional de Turismo” of Cataluña with the objective of intensify the promotion of the direct flights between the island and Barcelona.

For the Fuerteventura Tourist Board, stop the decrease of national tourism is one of the strategies of Fuerteventura for 2013.

The national market is suffering the consequences of the crisis and is necessary for the sector keep alive the flow of passangers because the arrival of visitors is what move all the economic sector”.

The connections between Barcelona and Fuerteventura are covert by the moment by Vueling Airlines, Ryanair and Orbest, but the forecast for the summer 2013 is that there will be 5 weekly flights between Barcelona and the island.

This summer, Air Nostrum will increase it conections offerinf new routes between Spain Mainland and Fuerteventura from July 19th to September 2nd.
