Windows File Management

In this class, you will learn how to save, delete, and manage files in Windows. We will look at the basics of using Windows Explorer/File Explorer, and techniques like cut/copy/paste, and “drag and drop” to move files. Learn how to create folders to further organize your documents, pictures, and videos. Creating shortcuts, using removable drives, and cloud storage will also be discussed. To fully benefit from this class, you should have basic mouse and keyboard skills with a working knowledge of Windows navigation – opening and closing windows, Start Menu, and using your taskbar.

NEW! Basic Computer Troubleshooting

This course can help you navigate the basic concepts of computer troubleshooting and repair so that you will be better prepared to

understand and resolve issues as they arise. Although this course includes general ways to resolve issues, it focuses primarily on Microsoft Windows as an operating system. However, if your computer does not have Microsoft Windows as an operating system, some of the included repair and trouble-shooting techniques will still pertain to you.

ABOUT OUR CLASSES

With small group classes offered year-round in English and Spanish, you can start anew or just review your skills to improve yourself professionally and personally. Our regular class offerings include training about the library’s downloadable media service, computer basics, Microsoft Office, and special topics that cover a variety of technology related needs.

All classes are free and open to the public and are available at various Jacksonville Public Library locations. No registration necessary. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis and subject to room capacity.

Free computer access for job applications, online classes, e-government services, email and individual work. E-specialists will be on hand to answer questions and give assistance on computers, devices, downloadable media and email.

One-on-one assistance with downloadable media, email, the Internet, online applications, and basic technology instruction.
