GE requires the trench duct to be a minimum of 3” deep and 10” wide and have 2 dividers. So long as the wiremold trench duct has the cover still removeable and meets the other stated requirements, it is acceptable to GE

Dale,

You are correct, GE will accept the 2.5” (clear inside dimension) for the duct so long as it meets the rest of the requirements.

Curt,

We discussed this back in August that this site specific condition of the existing floor structure does not not have a 3”

depth for the trench duct and that 2.5” was acceptable to GE. See attached email with correspondence dated 8-24-12.

Sorry guys, I thought you knew as we previously submitted this, only in 10”. It is provided by the electrical sub and was

originally reviewed by the electrical engineer. The 10” is 5-6 weeks out and we need to switch to 12” which is only 2

weeks out. It is going to be the same type as approved in the submittal, only 12” in lieu of 10”.

Tony, can you review this substitution to a 12” wide trench duct to see if there is any constructability issues and let me

know. Dale, if there are no constructability issues, do you need an RFI on this change? It would be means and methods

type of change, no cost impact. Let me know.

Dan - Legrand called today to notify me that the lead times for the 10" trench duct have been pushed out to 4-6

weeks. They can get me 12" (same depth) in 2-3 weeks. Is is acceptable to make that change? This would affect your saw cut.

Dan

I just wanted to follow up to our phone conversation this morning.

You will need a trench duct that ends at the point CTPT on the GE drawing sheet E1. The duct can be 10” wide, or it can be wider. This duct will need to connect to the horizontal wall duct at the rear of the room, and cannot conflict with the anchors for the system that are detailed on GE drawing sheet S1.
