· InDesign frames with an “image” enrichment must not exceed 2048px in width or height.
· Android only supports specific video formats. Video enrichments must follow these guidelines:

· It is not possible to juxtapose two videos, even if one is hidden. It is a technique limitation of Android devices 4.0 (and lower versions). We are currently working on a new video component optimized for devices higher than Android version 4.0.
· There is a limitation to the use of videos within popup windows in Android. The classic popup is not functional. To overcome this issue, videos will automatically display in a fullscreen pop up instead of a classic popup.
· It must be avoided to overlap sublayouts because Android only supports a limited amount of imbrications on the same page. Too many imbricated sublayouts may cause a crash of the application. We currently guarantee until two levels of imbrication. But the last sublayout (on top) must not contain slideshows.
· When you integrate a web page (or a HTML enrichment) in your document, this can disturb the user navigation. The HTML enrichment takes advantage on the others: clicks of users cause answers of a web page, and disable the interaction with the AVE document. The user wont be able to navigate (swipe to the next pages) in his document or trigger an other enrichment because of the web page you would have integrated. To avoid this problem, uncheck the option « Interaction », « Scrollable » and « Can Scale » when you create a HTML enrichment.
In the same way, if the block dedicated to the HTML enrichment is displayed in full page, it will block the navigation (prevent users to swipe to the next pages). To avoid this problem, uncheck the options « Interaction », « Scrollable » and “Can Scale” either, leave a space on the screen, or make a button to go to the next page. Another choice to let the user to be able to navigate in the web page in full screen, use the action « GoToWeb ».
Be also careful when you put an enrichment (slideshow, video,...) on a HTML enrichment, the navigation will prioritize the enrichment above the HTML enrichment, except if you check the option « Interaction ».
When you display a web page (HTML enrichment), do not assign a transparent background. Adding a transparent background on a HTML enrichment will disable the display optimization: The page in your document might be less fluid than others and the HTML5 videos might not be displayed.
This limitation occurs from Android 3.0 version and above.

To display a web page correctly in HTML5, use the action GoToWeb, which will open the web page in full screen. This problem has been solved by Google in Android 4.1. · In the Project Manager, the option “Always Visible” for the Menu Bar, does not apply
for Android. This option is only available on iPhone and iPad.
The resolutions are fixed on an iPhone or iPad, so you can have a fixed navigation bar and a space of the same size of the navigation bar to avoid it to cover up your content. On Android, you can create a magazine read on different devices (tablets/phones) of different sizes. Your document is automatically resized to be displayed in full screen on every device. It is then, not possible to provide a zone dedicated to the navigation bar, like on iPhone/iPad. We have disabled the option « always visible » for export of Android Ave documents.
· In all InDesign animation, the change of opacity is ignored in Android versions lower to 3.0.
· The Map enrichment is not compatible with the first Amazon Kindle tablet. It is not possible to display the enrichment within a page of your magazine, however it will display in Fullscreen mode when tapping on it.
Generic Advice (also valid for the Web and iOS)
· Remove all the unused enrichments and avoid creating twice the same enrichment. These unused enrichments are loaded in the reader. Unused enrichments will make the page heavier and affect the fluidity and speed of the navigation.
· Preferably, put the action on the enrichment block itself (no need to put your actions in an empty block). Otherwise you might overload your page and affect the fluidity of the navigation.
· When the visibly of a layer is changed, all the elements inside it are affected. Therefore, it is not necessary to change the visibility of each element of a layer.
· Group elements that are not enriched (for example a background and its associated images). This will optimize the page display. On the contrary, don't group enriched (interactive) elements: they will loose their enrichments.
· HTML enrichments and videos don't appear in the pages previews (thumbnails displayed in the summary). To rectify this problem, you can define yourself the preview image from the enrichment block (put the image in the enrichment block). You can get this preview issue if you add a background to a block: the background will be displayed, the block wont. You also can choose the preview image yourself.
· The creation of your layout will be easier is you correctly use layers, by giving relevant titles to your layers and blocks.
· To link a background color with your Sublayout, color your block from inDesign. Don't create a plain colored block behind your Sublayout. This makes the page heavier and affects the fluidity of the navigation.
