Yoga North International SomaYoga Institute (ISYI) – Level 2 Yoga Therapy Certification
Pre-Requisites: Applicant must have taken 500 hour Teacher Training program at Yoga North (ISYI)
prior to admittance. Applicant who has completed 500 hour Yoga Study program from another studio will be accepted pending approval of the Yoga North staff. Applicants from other TT500 programs will be required to take a bridge program.
Bridge Program
If you are interested in enrolling for the program in and need the Bridge Program as a pre-requisite, please contact us. Graduates of Yoga North's TT500 are not required to take Bridge Program.
Applicants must have a minimum of 1 year of practice and an additional year of teaching.
Type of Study: Make the commitment to yourself and become a yoga therapist learning skills to teach weekly yoga therapy classes, workshops, and develop a private clientele. The program takes place in Ely, Minnesota and includes four separate nine day long residential intensives spread over a two year period with extensive mentoring and practicum work. Completion of this program results in a total of over 1200 hours. This program is the final level of a Yoga Therapy Certification.
Hours of Study: The Yoga Therapy Program included 600+ hours for completion. Courses include postures, physiology & anatomy, breath, teaching methodology, practicum, personal practice, yogic philosophy, yogic history, and yogic sacred texts.
Course Overview:
Foundations and Philosophy: Evolution of the teaching and philosophy of yoga, Systems of Indian Philosophy from Vedic and post-Vedic periods, Yoga and the Mind, Shadow work and the Influence of Culture.
Biomedical and Psychological Foundations: Development/Evolution of Disease and Healing, Pathology, Anatomy and Physiology, Biomechanics, Psychology and Mental Health, Human Development and Life Cycles, Stress Patterns and Somatic Intervention
Teaching and Therapeutic Skills: Developing Therapeutic Relationships, Client/Student Assessments, Evaluations and Therapy Strategies, Principles and Skills for Working with Individuals and Groups, Ethical Principles of Teaching professional
Practice: Legal, Regulatory and Business Issues Pertaining to Yoga Therapy, Relationships with Peers, Mentors, Clinicians and Organizations, Personal/Professional Development
Your Mentor Program: Designed to enable you to collaborate with seasoned professionals as you develop your clinical skills. You will check in with the Mentor Program at scheduled times between intensives to provide the assistance you need throughout your training process.
Your Practicum Course: Each student will be supported to complete 150+ hours of one on one yoga therapy sessions. Students will become proficient at client assessment, evaluation, treatment and documentation. Documentation will be written, audio and video to be reviewed by mentor. Candidates for this program need to have access to and proficiency with a computer.
Home study includes reading assignments, listening to podcasts, communication and answering directed questions on ecampus, participation in conference calls, and journaling about personal experience. Students will be given focused homework on yoga topics as part of the program. Under the guidance of staff, students will participate in group class and private session practicum.
Certificate of Completion: A certificate of completion, indicating level of study, will be issued at the end of the program.
Length of Program: The program consists of four separate nine day long residential intensives. The program will be held at Yoga North Jasper Lake Retreat & Hermitage Center. From the start date of the program, participants are given two years to complete the program requirements including homework and student practicum.

Meals & Lodging: The Jasper Lake Retreat Center is furnished with yoga mats, bolsters, blankets, blocks, straps, chairs, and various specialized therapeutic yoga props. In addition the Retreat Center has accommodations with dormitory style sleeping and shared bathrooms. Sheets and blankets are furnished but; pillows, towels and toiletries should be brought from home.
There is a full kitchen area and most meals are provided. Snacks and community food can be brought from home; there are multiple refrigerators, microwave, stove, tea and coffee pots available for use. The yoga boutique carries most books and materials required for trainings and workshops, plus other books and yoga-related products.
Weather will vary so plan to pack for the elements, a detailed suggested packing list can be provided before modules
For the above accommodations & meals the cost is $900 per module.
Single rooms available off-site upon availability & during warm seasons. The cost for a single room off site is an additional $500 per module. Arrangements must be made two months in advance to hold your single room and a deposit of $500 is required.
Teacher Training Requirements: Pre-registration consisting of an application and $50 deposit is required. Please submit your application as soon as possible. You will be notified by email of receipt of application and we will set up a time for an interview. Your acceptance into the program will be established and supporting documents sent out by email. Please note 500 hour level/Bridge Program pre-requisite. Attendance, Grading and Conduct Policies: All training absences must be made up with same or similar topics and matching hours. Pass/Fail grades will be given, students must complete all training hours, assigned homework and demonstrate an understanding of all material covered. Students will be treated with respect and dignity and are expected to act with the same moral code when enrolled in training at Yoga North (ISYI).

All classes at Yoga North are offered in support of the awakening and transformation of each student.
Yoga North is licensed as a private career school with the Minnesota Office of Higher Education pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, sections 141.21 to 141.32. Licensure is not an endorsement of the institution. Credits earned at the institution may not transfer to all other institutions.

Cancellation/Refund Policy:
• Each student must be notified of acceptance/rejection in writing, even if a student is rejected, all tuition, fees, and other charges shall be refunded.
•. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary, if a student gives written notice of cancellation within five business days on which the student is accepted then a complete refund is given regardless whether the program has started.
•.If a student gives written notice of cancellation after five business days on which the student is accepted but before start of program, student is assessed 15 percent of tuition, fees, and other charges (15 percent not to exceed $50).
• If a student gives written notice of cancellation after the start of the program but before completion of 75 percent of the period of instruction, student is assessed pro rata portion of tuition, fees, and all other charges plus 25 percent of the total program (25 percent not to exceed $100).
• Any Notice of cancellation shall be acknowledged in writing within 10 days of receipt of such notice and all refunds shall be forwarded to student within 30 business days of receipt of such notice.
• This refund policy is not linked to any student conduct policy and any promissory instrument shall not be negotiated prior to the completion of 50 percent of the course.
• Written notice of cancellation shall take place on the date of the letter of cancellation is postmarked or, in the case where the notice is hand carried, it shall occur on the date the notice is delivered to the school. The date of execution of the enrollment agreement shall be presumed to be the date of delivery of the notice of acceptance: and if delivered by mail, the postmark date of the letter of acceptance.

Our faculty is highly trained, continuously learning, and committed to your development as if it were their own. Faculty for the Teacher Training and Yoga Therapy Certification Programs varies from weekend to module and specific staffing will be provided with each schedule
Ann Maxwell, MAed, ERYT 500, PYT, Somatic Educator, owner of Yoga North studio since December
2001, holds a masters degree as well as certification in Hatha Yoga, Yoga for Cancer Survivors and is an experienced teacher trainer and yoga therapist. She gets great satisfaction in supporting the teachers in training to find their niche, grow their skills and become great yoga teachers and therapists. She lives on the edge of the wilderness in Yoga North's retreat center on Jasper Lake in Ely, MN. Ann brings the spirit of adventure and curiosity to her expertise as a yoga instructor and business owner, grounding her ability in the practicality and expertise of the body. Ann is a model of yogic living for her students and brings a sense of wisdom and fun to the daily practice of yoga.
Molly McManus ERYT 500, PYT, AYS, Somatic Educator, owner of Yoga North Molly has flirted with yoga and Eastern philosophy all her life and when she found her home in Duluth committed to the practice and teachings at Yoga North. Molly’s passion is around helping students out of pain – from her work with chronic pain classes to her development of the SAD (Yoga for Stress, Anxiety and Depression) class she is always looking for new ways to help empower students to heal and love themselves. She enjoys teaching the teachers in training, asana, philosophy and therapeutic yoga as well as seeing clients for Somatic Education, Ayurveda and Yoga Therapy. Molly is a speaker for regional conferences on SomaYoga, Adaptive Yoga and Yoga and SAD. She engages continuous training in Ayurveda, anatomy, therapeutic yoga, adaptive yoga and neuromuscular reeducation techniques as well as any great yogic philosophy courses she can find. The diversity in her interests, background, education and experience help her to create a relaxed, inviting and fun atmosphere to teach the wildly beneficial life skills of yoga.

Nicole Hoops MA OT/L RYT200 Native of Northern MN, bachelors in Exercise Science from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1995, Masters in Occupational Therapy from St Scholastica in 1998. Registered Yoga Teacher 200 from Yoga North. Experience in cardiac rehab, personal training & fitness, physical rehab and restoring function within various pathologies. Passion is neurorehab/somatics and creating
awareness by connecting my students brains with their bodies. The knowledge of Yoga has opened up a whole new door for me for giving students the power to change their function and freedom of
movement.
Jodi ChristensenE-RYT 500, YT, CSE, CMT. Jodi's education in the healing arts began in at the Utah College of Massage Therapy, where she earned certification as a Massage Therapist. She is also a certified practitioner of Reiki and Quantum-Touch. She continued her education in Hatha Yoga of the Himalayan Tradition with Yoga North where she completed their 200 hour and 500 hour teacher training. Jodi has also received training as a Clinical Somatic Educator. Most recently she completed certification as a Yoga Therapist with Yoga North ISYI. She will be continuing her education with the Himalayan Institutes Ayurvedic Specialist Certification offered through Yoga North in the fall of 2015. Sarah Hansen BA, RYT500, CRP and Somatic Educator. Sarah’s roots as a wilderness educator ground her interest in helping individual discoveries to increase graceful function and ease. Sarah can be found teaching yoga postures, philosophy and Somatics as well as young children. She loves the daily
adventure that parenting brings in her home in Ely. Sarah writes, "I have found freedom through quiet movement discoveries in my own body and love how uncovering old neuromuscular patterns can offer peace of body, mind and spirit." She delights in combining therapeutic yoga with Somatics to help individual clients.
We also engage renowned guest lecturers with particular areas of expertise from in outside the Yoga North faculty for seminars within the curriculum

Program Cost:$8500 (plus $50 application fee). Enroll by 2/15/16 and save $500 with a $1000 deposit due upon enrollment into program and balance due before the first session.
If preferred, a monthly payment plan (arranged in advance of first weekend)may be chosen with an additional $200.00 administration fee, please inquire with the office for this option. Payment options include cash, check, MasterCard or Visa.
