How to jailbreak iOS 12.0-12.5.1 with Chimera.

In addition to the unc0ver jailbreak by Pwn20wnd, iOS 12 users have the option to use the Chimera jailbreak by the CoolStar-led Electra Team.

It’s worth noting that the Chimera jailbreak does not support Cydia or Cydia Substrate, and that it instead uses Sileo and libhooker as a part of its Procursus bootstrap for package management and tweak injection. That aside, it is the first public jailbreak tool to officially support A12(X) devices.

Chimera currently supports iOS 12.0-12.5.1 on A7-A11(X) devices as new as the iPhone X and as old as the iPhone 5s, however it only supports iOS 12.0-12.1.2 on A12(X) devices such as the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to jailbreak your supported handset with the Chimera jailbreak tool.

How to jailbreak with Chimera.

Chimera can jailbreak iOS 12.0-12.5.1 devices as outlined by the parameters above. If your supported handset is running one of these firmware versions, then you’re good to go.

When you’re ready, simply follow the steps below:

1) Download the most recent version of Chimera here:

2) Download Cydia Impactor on your computer and launch it.

3) Connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your computer with a Lightning or USB-C cable (depending on the device).

Note: Cydia Impactor should recognize your device after you plug it in. If it doesn’t, then “Trust” your computer from your computer via the pop- up on your device, and vice-versa. You may need to launch iTunes to do the latter.

4) Click and drag the Chimera.ipa file you downloaded into the Cydia Impactor window like so:

5) Enter a valid Apple ID when prompted to:

6) Sign in with your Apple ID password when prompted to:

7) Cydia Impactor will now begin side-loading the Chimera jailbreak app to your iOS device:

8) Once installed, go to Settings → General → Profiles & Device Management and tap on your Apple ID:

9) Next, Tap on the blue Trust button, and then tap on the red Trust button inside the popup that appears:

Note: Before proceeding to the next step, enable Airplane Mode, disable your passcode/Touch ID/Face ID, disable Siri, and reboot your device.

Taking these additional steps isn’t mandatory, but has been known to increase jailbreaking success rates in the past.

10) After following the recommended steps above, tap on the Chimera app on your device’s Home screen:

11) Next, tap on the round Jailbreak button in the Chimera app:

Note: the tool will begin jailbreaking your device; it should respring afterward.

12) Once finished, the Chimera jailbreak app will confirm that you’re jailbroken:

13) Sileo should now be displayed on your Home screen alongside the Chimera jailbreak app:

Note: If you don’t see Sileo after jailbreaking with Chimera, then reboot and re-launch the Chimera app and keep trying until it works.

That’s all there is to it. You now have a jailbroken handset by way of Chimera.

Jailbreak iOS 12 – 12.4.1: How To, Download, and News.

Apple unveiled iOS 12, the next major iOS software update for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch at WWDC 2018 in June, which includes several new features and improvements. Some of the new iOS 12 features include improved performance, Memoji which allows users to quickly turn

themselves into an Animoji with a variety of customization options as well, improvements to the Photos app, Siri Shortcuts which will give automation workflows to users and lots more.

But despite the new iOS 12 features and improvements, there are still many reasons to jailbreak iOS 12 such as to install iFile, which gives access to the file system, tweaks like Message Customizer that lets you customize each aspect of the Messages app, ability to lock apps and folders using Touch ID and lots more.

Apple has also released 6 updates for iOS 12 so far for bug fixes and improvements.

Can You Jailbreak iOS 12 – iOS 12.4.1?

You can jailbreak iOS 12 using unc0ver jailbreak and chimera jailbreak.

Unc0ver jailbreak supports all iOS 12 compatible devices (A7 – A12/A12X including iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, and 2018 iPad Pro) on iOS 12 – iOS 12.2. It was recently updated to jailbreak iOS 12.4, but it only supports A7-A11 devices, which means all iOS 12 devices except for iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, and 2018 iPad Pro.

Chimera jailbreak supports all iOS 12 compatible devices (A7 – A12/A12X including iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, and 2018 iPad Pro) on iOS 12 – iOS 12.1.2, and it also supports A7 – A11 devices on iOS 12.2 except for iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, and 2018 iPad Pro.

You can also use Chimera jailbreak to jailbreak iOS 12.3 but it only supports some beta versions. It doesn’t support the public version of iOS 12.3, iOS 12.3.1, iOS 12.3.2 and iOS 12.4 currently as Apple has patched the exploits that were used by the jailbreak tools.

We recommend using unc0ver jailbreak for iOS 12 as it comes with Cydia which makes it a lot easier to install jailbreak tweaks.

On August 26, 2019, Apple released iOS 12.4.1 to fix the vulnerability that was used to jailbreak iOS 12.4, so you can’t jailbreak iOS 12.4.1 using Unc0ver or Chimera jailbreak currently.

Download iOS 12 Jailbreak.

You can download the latest version of Unc0ver jailbreak from Github hosted by pwn20wnd.

You can download the latest version of Chimera jailbreak from here hosted by Electra team.

Before you try to jailbreak your iPhone or iPad using Unc0ver, it is extremely important that you ensure no iOS 12 OTA file has been downloaded and saved on your device. Make sure to delete it from Settings -> Storage and only then proceed to jailbreak your iPhone/iPad. If an OTA file is present, your device will end up in a respring or reboot loop.

"tfp0 exploit" which has been released at the end of last year by a security researcher Ian Beer .

Electra download now installs Cydia installer on your iDevice after the initial release. This is not official Cydia from Saurik. Still, there is no official Cydia released to iOS 11. iOS 11-based Electra jailbreak updated to v2.0 with improved bootstrap, tweak injection, & more.

Earlier in the month, Chimera Team lead developer CoolStar announced a fresh version of the iOS 12-centric Chimera jailbreak tool with support for the Procursus bootstrap, libhooker tweak injection, and a whole host of back-ported improvements that derived from the newer Odyssey jailbreak. Now, it seems the older iOS 12-based Electra jailbreak tool is receiving a similar treatment.

As shared early this morning in CoolStar’s official Sileo / Odyssey / Chimera Discord server, the Electra jailbreak has been officially updated to version 2.0 with an upgraded Chimera bootstrap with libhooker tweak injection and other miscellaneous improvements:

Jailbreaks.app is a new signing service for jailbreakers without computers.

Unless you’re using the checkra1n jailbreak tool, you’ll find that most other jailbreaks require you to side load a special app and deploy it to get your handset into a jailbroken state. Most jailbreakers use AltStore to accomplish this task nowadays, but signing services are another option if you aren’t fortunate enough to have a computer at your disposal.

Joining the party is a brand-new signing service dubbed Jailbreaks.app, which just launched Thursday afternoon. The platform, developed by iCraze and designed by CaspD3V, can be accessed via the native Safari web browser on any iPhone or iPad to download and deploy compatible jailbreak tool(s).

Updated Sileo beta makes the app’s Get button 7-15x faster.

Whether you’re taking advantage of the Electra jailbreak for iOS 11 or the Chimera jailbreak for iOS 12, one thing is certain: you’ve got the Sileo package manager hiding out somewhere on your Home Screen. The same statement applies for those using the Chimera1n or Odysseyra1n bootstraps on the popular checkra1n jailbreak for iOS 12 & 13.

Regardless of which of the aforementioned setups you’re running on your pwned handset, it’s worth noting that the Sileo Team launched an updated beta version of the Sileo package manager Thursday afternoon with some serious speed improvements. The latest beta was announced via the Sileo Team’s official Twitter account just over an hour ago:

Sileo v1.8 update adds improved support for BigBoss repository, 4x speed bump.

Late last night, the Sileo Team launched an updated version of the Sileo package manager for jailbroken devices, officially bringing the project up to version 1.8 with a serious bump in speed and other changes that will make some jailbreakers quite happy.

The Sileo Team announced its updated Sileo package manager via Twitter at approximately 4:30 A.M. Eastern time:

Sileo updated with support for editorials, more Swift-driven UI.

In a brand-new update for the Sileo package manager Sunday evening, the Sileo Team incorporated support for built-in editorials so that avid

jailbreakers who are interested in reading about jailbreak-centric news can now do so in addition to installing their favorite packages.

According to the official Tweet shared just minutes ago via the Sileo Team Twitter page, the team notes that editorials will appear for users under the ‘New’ tab in the app, integrating with an existing list of newly released packages and package updates:

Sileo Team releases open source Sileo v2.0.0 alpha 1 for testing.

At the start of the week, the Sileo Team turned a new leaf that resonated positively with the jailbreak community when it said that most of the first alpha iteration of Sileo v2.0.0 had been published to GitHub as open source software. But since then, the team has been particularly tight-lipped about when it would be pushed to the default repositories for hands-on testing.

Fortunately, that’s no longer a mystery. In an announcement shared via Twitter Friday evening, the Sileo Team said that Sileo v2.0.0 alpha 1 could now be installed from the Electra and Chimera repositories on their respective jailbreaks:

Sileo Team open-sources v2.0.0 alpha 1 of its package manager.

Those paying close attention to the Sileo Team’s Twitter account Monday evening would have taken note of a rather captivating announcement.

As it would seem, Sileo version 2.0.0 alpha 1 has been published as open source software under the BSD-4 license on the team’s official GitHub page:

How to side-load the unc0ver jailbreak with Xcode on macOS.

If you rely side-loadable jailbreak tools such as Chimera, Electra, or unc0ver, then it’s important to understand the plethora of ways you can install them on your iPhone or iPad. While methods such as AltStore, Cydia Impactor, and third-party signing services like Ignition and iOS Ninja are some of the most popular, many tend to forget that you can use Apple’s own Xcode development platform on the Mac to accomplish this task.

The Xcode method came in clutch for me countless times when Cydia Impactor stopped working for an extended period and when all the best signing services had been revoked; to make matters worse, my handset's iOS version was too old to run AltStore. With that in mind, we’ll be sharing the Xcode method in this tutorial for fellow jailbreakers that find themselves in similar predicaments down the road.

Sileo v1.7.0 beta 2 brings further speed improvements to the app.

The Sileo Team pushed an updated public beta version of the Sileo package manager for the Electra (iOS 11) and Chimera (iOS 12) jailbreaks Sunday evening, officially bringing the project up to version 1.7.0 beta 2.

The announcement, shared mere minutes ago via the Sileo Team’s official Twitter page, denotes several improvements in the latest beta release:

AltDeploy v1.1 brings a new icon, support for multiple Apple IDs, and more.

In the absence of any updates to Saurik’s jailbreak-centric Cydia Impactor tool since it stopped working several months ago, Chimera, Electra, and unc0ver jailbreak users have faced frustrating times. Luckily, a working alternative called AltDeploy made its first public debut a few days ago.

Just this weekend, AltDeploy received its second official update since being released. The latest update brings the young side-loading utility up to version 1.1 and incorporates both bug fixes and improvements that help make the app better for end users.

Cydia Impactor alternative ‘AltDeploy’ officially released for side-loading apps.

Those using the side-loadable Chimera and unc0ver jailbreak apps have experienced quite a rough patch these past couple of months given Cydia Impactor’s current broken state and the scarcity of reliable signing services that don’t get their certificates revoked shortly after going online. These issues have made it unusually challenging to get the jailbreak(s) running again after the host device endures a power cycle.

Saurik hinted in November that he would be looking into ways to fix Cydia Impactor, but we’ve since passed the expected ETA for such an update, prompting members of our very own jailbreak community to take action themselves. The newfangled efforts have resulted in a Cydia Impactor alternative for macOS called AltDeploy by @pixelomer.

Electra Team ending support for the iOS 11-based Electra jailbreak.

An announcement shared by Electra Team lead developer CoolStar on the team’s official Discord discussion group Saturday afternoon disclosed some unfortunate news for those using the iOS 11-centric Electra jailbreak tool.

From what we can gather, Electra has officially reached the EOL (end of life) stage of its development and will no longer receive any support from the Electra Team going forward:
