3 1. Field

1.1 Each MIPL event will be hosted at Paintball Mirabel’s Paint Park. The playing surface will consist of synthetic grass(Turf) or natural grass and the dimensions will be 120 feet wide by 150 feet long. The boundaries will be clearly identified with white, yellow lines or netting. Any player stepping on or outside of the boundaries will be considered eliminated.

1.2 Each event will be played on a playing surface with inflatable obstacles that will be arranged symmetrically.

1.3 The flag hang/point button stations are the starting points. These locations are located at the front of each team's penalty box and are called a "Starting Station". They are between the wooden posts supporting the structure of the penalty boxes.

1.4 The playing fields are equipped with two transition zones. These transition zones are found on the inside of the playing field, surrounding the 45 meter length of the playing surface with approximately 3.3 meters wide of space. During a game, this specific zone is strictly reserved for the game officials, photographers, team staff and players, as well as entering the field before the beginning of a match and exiting the field. While a match is in progress, any live player entering these zones will be considered out of bounds and eliminated from the point In progress.

2. Referees

2.1 Each event will be staffed by experienced referees with knowledge of the XBALL format and who have been trained by the MIPL league.

2.2 Each event will be supervised by a Head Referee on the field.

2.3 Each event will be supervised by an Ultimate Referee outside the playing area.

2.4 At each event, a total of 7 referees will officiate the matches. Not including the Head ref.

2.5 At each event, officials will verify the velocity and BPS(Balls Per Second) during the match with a hand-held chronometer.

2.6 All officials are impartial.

2.7 In a conflict, at any level, only the Head Ref and Team Captains may discuss it.

3. Team Structure

3.1 Each game is played 5 against 5 on the field.

3.2 Each team may have a maximum of 10 players on the roster.

3.3 Each team must submit its official roster 5 days prior to the date of each event on the MIPL.ca website.

3.4 NT5 division teams can roster players of calibre from NT5 and/or RT5 and/or ST3.

3.5 Definition of different calibres of players.

3.5.1 Professional Player

4 3.5.1.1 Any player that has been rostered on a Pro team through the APPA system from 2017 to present day and/or has been rostered/played on a pro team at any event will be considered a Professional Player and will not be eligible to play the MIPL.

3.5.2 Advanced Player

3.5.2.1 Any player that has been rostered on a Semi-Pro team through the APPA system from 2019 to present day and/or has been rostered and/or played on a semi-pro team or Division 1 team at any other event will be considered an Advanced Player and will not be eligible to play the MIPL.

3.5.3 Amateur Player

3.5.3.1 Any player that has been played on a Division 2 and/or Division 3 team outside of Canada from 2020 to present day will be considered an Amateur player and will not be eligible to play the MIPL.

3.5.4 Novice "NT5" Player

3.5.4.1 Any player that has been rostered on a MIPL NT5 Team during the 2020 season and ranked top 3 overall at the 2020 MIPL NT5 finals will be considered a Novice NT5 player for the 2021 season.

3.5.5 Rookie "RT5" Player

3.5.5.1 Any player that has been rostered on a MIPL RT5 Team during the 2020 season and ranked top 3 overall at the 2020 MIPL RT5 finals will be considered a Rookie RT5 player for the 2021 season.

3.5.6 Starter "ST3" Player

3.5.6.1 Any player that has minimal or no tournament experience with the exception of family members as mentioned on rule 1.1.1. in the "ST3" addendum will be considered Starter "ST3" players.

3.6 Any player rostered on a MIPL "RT5" team during the current event may guest a maximum of 2 games in the MIPL

"NT5" division during the current event. In order to play a third match, the player must officially be ranked and rostered as a "NT5" player and will no longer be able to play "RT5" for the rest of the current event, including finals.

3.7 Any player rostered on a MIPL "ST3" team during the current season may guest a maximum of 2 games in the MIPL "RT5" division during the current event. In order to play a third match, the player must officially be ranked and rostered as a "RT5" player and will no longer be able to play "ST3" for the rest of the current event, including finals.

3.8 The league reserves the right to revise the experience level of any player and reclassify them according to the levels issued by the league in rule 3.5. without notice.

3.9 Each team is entitled to a maximum of 5 staff members in the pit area, including the coaches.

3.10 It is the obligation of the team managers and of the players to provide accurate information concerning their experience in their speedball career, before being rostered on a team, to the league manager. A team manager providing false information about the experience level of his players will cause his team to be disqualified from the current event.

5 4 Game Format – 5 point Race to Format

4.1 Match Starting Procedures

4.1.1 At the start of each point, all players must have the marker facing down and the tip of their barrels touching the starting station at the starting signal. Any player not following this procedure will be considered as “False Starting” and will considered eliminated with the exception of Rule 4.1.2.

4.1.2 Any player that did not have the tip of his barrel touching the starting station at the sound of the starting signal and is within 2 meters of the starting station and did not fire his marker can come back and touch the starting station with the tip of his barrel and continue to play the current point in progress as a live player. On the other hand a the player will be considered eliminated if he passes 2 meters from the starting station or he has been eliminated at per Rule 6.1.1. prior to the touch back.

4.1.3 Any player that does not have a marker at the start of the point must have his hand touch the starting station at the start of each point or the player will be considered eliminated.

4.1.4 The departure of each of the points is started by the sound signal emitted by the control tower/Scoreboard.

4.1.5 If the buzzer sounds before the last 5 seconds of the departure of a point due to a technical problem, the point that should be played will be cancelled and the usual 2 minute stop time will be started manually by the attendants of the control tower. However, if the buzzer sounds after the last 5 seconds of the start of a point due to technical problems, the point to be played will be played.

4.1.6 Before the start of a point, if one or more players false start and shoot towards the opposing team. That player/players are automatically be eliminated and may be assessed a penalty at the discretion of the official.

4.1.7 In case of major issue with the scoreboard, the head referee will be responsible for the start of each point. Scoring and time management (remaining time, downtime, etc.) will be the responsibility of the off-field staff.

4.2 Match Times NT5

4.2.1 Each of the MIPL divisions NT5 matches have a 25 minutes of Match time.

4.2.2 Each of the MIPL divisions NT5 matches will stop at the end of 25 minutes of Match time if the race to points have not been fulfilled. (See Regulation 5 of this document)

4.2.3 The game clock will stop during the last 2 minutes of play during the downtime (Stop Time). (See Regulation 5 of this document)

4.3 Stop Time

4.3.1 As a point is in progress, once the flag station point button has been touched/pressed, the Head Ref shall stop that point and the mandatory 2 minutes timeout is launched. The playing time may be influenced by an official Timeout requested by a team or a technical down time.

6 4.3.2 Each team is entitled to one (1 minute) timeout per game. The timeout can be used at any time during a match while the game is not in progress (mandatory game timeout). To activate the timeout, a team must notify the score tower official no later than 20 seconds before the start of the next point. In this case, an additional 1 minutes will be added to the timeout clock and the game time will be stopped.

4.3.3 In the event that the two teams request a timeout at the same time, both teams will be charged with their timeout.

4.3.4 An official may request a technical timeout at any time, even during a point in progress, for any logistical reason or any cause that could be detrimental to the safety of the participants. In this case, the time is stopped, no point will be awarded to any team and when the situation is corrected a timeout of 2 minutes will be started. In order to restart the point, the referees will determine how many live players were on the field for each team at the moment the timeout was called and each team will start with that number of players at each starting station. No additional time will be added to the main Game Time.

4.3.5 Only one timeout by either team may be requested during a mandatory stoppage of play.(With the exception of 4.3.3)

Mandatory game timeout:

-A mandatory time-out of the game imposed by the league after each of the points.

Team Timeout:

- A team timeout is a game stoppage requested by a team only once in a match, only during a Mandatory Game Timeout.

Technical Timeout:

A technical timeout is imposed by the league officials for technical reasons or safety reasons outside of our control. See Rule 4.3.4.

4.4 Switch Starting Stations

4.4.1 Each team starts the first point of the match at the starting station on the same side of the field as the team’s own pit area

4.4.2 Teams will switch starting stations after every point scored.

4.4.3 If a point is started but ends in a no-point (neither team scores), the teams do not switch sides in the following point.

4.4.4 Each team will play the first point of the game on the side of the field where their pit is located. When the score of the both team adds up to an odd number, the teams will start on the far side of the field (1-0, 2- 1, 3-0, etc.). When the score of the game adds up to and even number, the teams will start on the close (pit side) side (0-0, 2-0, 4-2, etc.).

4.4.5 In the case of an overtime in the MIPL Finals Event, Teams will start the overtime point on their pit side of the field.

4.5 Schedule of Games

4.5.1 Each team has a predetermined schedule for the current event, which is posted on the league's website at www.mipl.ca. or on the MIPL Facebook page and sent directly to the manager of each team. Each team must respect the season schedule (see Regulation 5.3. Of this document).

7 4.5.2 Each team must have a minimum of 5 players (including guests) sign in for each match at least 30 minutes

prior to match start in accordance with Rule 3 of this document.

4.5.3 Each match has a maximum duration of 25 minutes of Match time.

4.5.4 5 minutes will be given between each of the matches.

4.5.5 The only starting time of the games that is guaranteed is that of the first match of each day. It is possible that the league will advance or delay the schedule for a logistical reason.

5 Scoring Points

5.1 Points During Match

5.1.1 A point is awarded to a team, during a mandatory two minute time out, when the head referee on the field has inspected the player who touched/pressed the flag station point button at the opposing team’s starting station and has verified that the player has been qualified according to the conditions of: Live player.

5.1.2 When the opposing team concedes a point by throwing the towel, the current point is instantaneously stopped. To concede a point by throwing the towel, a team must activate the switch available in each pit area or mention to score tower official that your team chooses to concede the point. At any time during a game, if the score tower official receives a signal from a switch wishing to concede the point, a stoppage of the current point will happen instantaneously and the opposing team will be awarding one point.

5.1.3 A point is awarded to the opposing team when a player touches/presses the point button at his own teams starting station during a current point.

5.1.4 During a point in progress, when a team is assessed a penalty and there is not enough live players left on the field to serve the minor, major or a ultimate penalty, the current point in progress automatically stops and no points are awarded to either team. The penalty will be served for the start of the next point.

5.1.5 A point has no maximum time except the maximum time of a game. (See Regulation 4.2.)

5.1.6 For the NT5 division, the first team that scores five (5) points wins the game. In the event that the maximum time for a 25-minute game is reached, the points on the scoreboards will be taken into account for the decision of the game and the team with the most points wins the game. (See Regulation 4.2.) 5.1.7 If a major and/or utlimate penalty is assessed to a team within in the last 90 seconds of a match, the

current point will go to the opposing team. The offending team in question will be assessed a major penalty which will start at the next point. If both teams are awarded a major and/or utlimate penalty simultaneously within the last 90 seconds of that match, the current point is stopped and no point will be awarded to either team. Teams will be assessed a major and/or utlimate penalty starting at the next point. (See Rule 6.6.11.2)

5.2 Annulled Point

5.2.1 A point will not be awarded when a player touches/presses the point button at the starting station of the opposing team and has a paint hit/mark on him or any part of his equipment. In this case, in addition to his team NOT being awarded the current point, the offending team will be awarded a minor penalty that will be carried over to the next point.

8 5.2.2 A point is not awarded if a player touches the boundary line or steps out of bounds while pressing the

point button at the starting station of the opposing team. (see regulations 1.1.)

5.2.3 The Head ref will stop a current point and will not award any game points when all players have been eliminated and no player has touched/pressed the point button at the starting station. Two minutes of stopping time begins once the Head Ref ensures that all players are eliminated.

5.2.4 When both teams have been assessed penalties and there is not enough live players to serve the minor and / or major penalties for both teams, the point will be immediately stopped. In this situation where both teams do not have enough live players on the field to serve the penalty (s), a game point will not be awarded and the penalties will be served at the start of the next point.

5.3 FORFEITS

5.3.1 A team wins by forfeit when one or more player’s the opposing team’s have not signed in according to regulation 4.5.2.

5.3.2 A team wins when the opposing team has an over ranked player on its player list and that player plays (see rules 3. Team Structure).

5.3.3 A team wins by forfeit when the opposing team does not show up for the Match.

5.3.4 A team wins by forfeit when the opposing team is expelled for misconduct or security issues.

5.3.5 A game won by forfeit will be scored at 3-0 awarding Two (2) Overall Standing Points and Three (3) +/- points to the winning team in question.

5.3.6 A forfeited team will be banned from the league. (See Rule 10.1.) 6 Format structure by event

6.1 Schedule by event

6.1.1 Qualifying and semi-final games

6.1.1.1 Each of the 6 teams plays 3 games to determine qualification for the semi-final on the day of the event.

6.1.1.2 The teams finishing first through fourth in the standings for the day of the event will advance to the semi-final of the event.

6.1.1.3 The teams finishing first and second respectively in the semi-final of the day of the event will advance to the final of the same event.

6.1.2 Grand final

6.1.2.1 The teams finishing respectively in first and second position in the semi-final of the day of the event will advance to the final of the same event.

6.1.2.2 The time for the final game is 25 minutes. See regulation 4.2.4.

9 6.1.2.3 The team reaching 5 points before the end of the 25 minutes allotted for the game of the final or the team with the most points at the end of the 25 minutes of the game of the final will be the winning team of the day of the event.

6.1.2.4 If there is a tie at the end of regulation time, we will go to a 5 minute overtime period and all active penalties given during the regular game will continue. When the first player who touched/pressed the flag station point button at the opposing team’s starting station has been verified, inspected by the head referee on the field and has been qualified according to the conditions of an a “live player”, his team will win the game; in the event of the match remaining tied, we will then go to a one on one shootout. Each team will have one (1) rostered player representing and belonging to their team compete in the shootout. There will be one (1) minute entered on the official scoreboard. If after the one (1) minute time a winner is not determined, teams will choose different rostered players to compete in the one on one shootout. This will continue for three (3) rounds if required. The winning team will advance to the next round. If a third round of one on one is required and a winner has not yet been determined, the team with the highest overall seeding of the season will advance.

6.1.2.5 If a major penalty is assessed in the 5 minute overtime period, the match will be ended and a point and the victory will be awarded to the team that did not receive the penalty.

If both teams are awarded a major penalty, neither team will get the point/victory and we will go into one on one shootouts.

7 DECISIONS

7.1 ELIMINATIONS

7.1.1 Definition of a player considered eliminated. A player hit by a paintball from a marker and leaves a paint splatter on the player and / or a piece of his equipment. Regardless of the size of the splatter, the player is automatically eliminated. If a paintball hits the player, but does not leave a splatter, the player is not considered eliminated. If a paintball breaks on an obstacle and the player receives the splatter, the player will not be eliminated. This will be the referee’s discretion.

7.1.2 Once he/she has declared themselves eliminated and/or have failed to respect one of the regulations therefore leading to elimination and/or an official declares them eliminated, the player is then officially eliminated.

7.1.3 A player is eliminated if he is hit by a paintball and the ball breaks on a part of his body.

7.1.4 A player is eliminated if he is hit by a paintball and the ball breaks on any part of his/her equipment:

mask, marker, belt, loader, bottle, squeegee, pods, or any other part of his/her equipment with the exception of discarded pods or squeegee.

7.1.5 A player is eliminated if he / she exceed the boundary limits of the playing surface. See rule 1.1.

7.1.6 A player is eliminated when he deliberately moves a bunker.

7.1.7 During a point, any player shall be considered eliminated if he/she intentionally physically has been touched by another player. Any player that intentionally physically touches another player shall also be considered eliminated.

10 7.1.8 When a player is eliminated, he/she has 3 seconds to announce that he/she has been eliminated by saying “HIT”. The player should also raise a hand higher than his head and make a hand movement from left to right. This way, it confirms the player has been eliminated.

7.1.9 An eliminated player must exit the field in the shortest way possible, towards his own team’s pit area.

7.1.10 Any team fielding more players or staff members than permitted at the start of a point, when the signal is heard, will be penalized. The surplus players/staff will be considered eliminated and one additional player will be removed/eliminated for each person that was in surplus of the number of players allowed for that given point.

7.1.11 In the case where a referee sees two opposing players shoot at each other and the referee is unable to determine beyond a doubt which player was eliminated first, the referee will eliminate both players.

7.1.12 In the case where a referee spots paint on a player that is similar to a paint hit, but the referee does not know where this paint / hit came from, the player in question will be eliminated by the referee and a penalty may be assessed.

7.1.13 Any player that has his mask fall off his head on the playing field is automatically eliminated.

7.1.14 A player who moves more than 2 meters away from any of his/her own dropped equipment will be automatically eliminated. The only equipment that can be separated from the players are the paintball tubes and barrel cleaners. (Squeegee/swab)

7.1.15 During a game, any player assessed with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty will be automatically eliminated and may be assessed a minor, major or ultimate penalty depending on the severity of the conduct. Unsportsmanlike conduct includes, but is not limited to:

7.1.15.1 Disobedience to an referee

7.1.15.2 Deliberately avoiding a referee or preventing him from doing his job.

7.1.15.3 Deliberately shooting at a referee

7.1.15.4 Shooting a player clearly identified as being eliminated in order to intimidate or hurt him.

7.1.15.5 Shooting a player in an abusive way.

7.1.15.6 Use of a paintcheck to distract an referee and / or to know the position of an opposing player and / or to influence the outcome of a current point.

7.1.15.7 Players are responsible for removing their old paint hits/marks. A referee can eliminate a player even if it is an old paint hit/mark.

7.1.15.8 Every player is responsible for being aware of the paintball hits and declaring himself eliminated, otherwise he will be awarded a penalty

7.1.15.9 When a player is eliminated, he must immediately stop playing and declare that he is

eliminated and go to his team’s pit area as quickly as possible in the shortest way, otherwise he may be penalized.

11 7.1.16 When a player is hit in a region that is difficult for himself to verify (ex, visor, throat, harness, back, etc.) the player must immediately stop playing and ask for a paintcheck otherwise he may be assessed a penalty.

7.1.17 A player who believes he/she has been hit by a paintball and is uncertain if the paintball broke/left a mark on him or any part of his equipment while moving up the field must absolutely stop at the obstacle closest to him. During this short period of time, the player must immediately check himself and he must not shoot, move, communicate and any other action that could confuse the opponent making them believe that he is a live player. If it is impossible the player to check himself, the player must request verification from the referee. Otherwise, if he continues to play while being eliminated, he will be awarded a penalty.

7.1.18 Only referees may wipe paint off live players if the referee determines that mark was not from a paintball hit. (Ex. kneeing on a ball, splash from a bunker). Any player that decides to wipe off any paint from their equipment or body without the referee’s consent be considered as a player wiping and the offending player may be awarded a penalty (see rule 6.6.).

7.2 PAINT CHECKS

7.2.1 A live MIPL player may request a "Paintcheck" for himself at any time during the game if he is unsure that one or more balls have not broken on him. The game remains active during this time.

7.2.2 A live MIPL player may request a "Paintcheck" on an opposing player, at any time of the game. The game remains active during this time.

7.2.3 A player who requests a paintcheck on himself while he was able to determine that he/she was obviously hit without the referree’s help will be assessed a penalty if the referee deems that the player in question wanted to change the outcome of the game.

7.2.4 A player should be aware of and responsible for knowing whether one or more paintballs have broken on him and / or any part of his equipment.

7.2.5 The referee is under no obligation to perform a paintcheck if he considers that the player in question does not require one.

7.3 CHRONOGRAPH

7.3.1 At any time during a game, each player must have a marker whose velocity is under 301 ft./sec.

7.3.2 During a game, a player must chronograph his marker before each point in which he participates. In the event that a player's marker exceeds the 300 ft. / Sec, that specific marker cannot be used for the point at which the player was going to play and that same marker cannot be reinstated within the MIPL until it has been adjusted according to league standards.

7.3.3 During a game, any breach of the rules above may result in a minor, major or ultimate penalty depending on the severity of the offense.

7.4 RADAR CHRONO

7.4.1 During a match, each player must have a marker with a maximum rate of fire of 12.5 B.P.S.

12 7.4.2 During a game, a player must chronograph his marker before each point in which he participates. In the event that a player's marker exceeds the 12.5 Balls per second, that specific marker cannot be used for the point at which the player was going to play and that same marker cannot be reinstated within the MIPL until it has been adjusted according to league standards.

7.4.3 During a game, any breach of the rules above may result in a minor, major or ultimate penalty depending on the severity.

7.5 FLAG STATION POINT BUTTON

7.5.1 The match point will end the moment any Flag Station Point button is touched/pressed by a player.

7.5.2 Once the Flag Station Point Button is touched/pressed by a player, a two minute mandatory stoppage of play will commence.

7.5.3 Once a player touches/presses the Flag Station Point button, the Head ref will determine if the player is clean or hit. If the player is clean(has no paintball hits), a point will be awarded to his team. If the player is hit, NO point will be awarded and a minor penalty will be assessed to the player. See applicable regulation 8.3.1.

7.5.4 If, during a point, the Flag Station Point button is touched/pressed by a player eliminated or not, that is acting in an unsportsmanlike conduct and that player has been eliminated by a referee prior to touching/pressing the button. A point will be assessed to the opposing team, a Major penalty will be assessed to the team in question and the player will be expelled from the current match and his following match.

7.5.5 If a player touches/presses his/her own Flag Station Point Button with intentions of disturbing the point in progress. A point will be assessed to the opposing team, a Major penalty will be assessed to the team in question and the player may be expelled from the current match and his following match.

7.5.6 If a player is caught shooting at the Flag Station Point button on purpose, the player will be assessed a major penalty and the player may be expelled based of the Head Refs decision.

7.5.7 A player must press/touch the Flag Station Point button with his/her hand only. If a player touches/presses the button with his gun or any other part of his equipment, the point will not be assessed and a penalty may still be awarded if the player has a hit on him.

7.5.8 If there is a malfunction with the Flag Station Push Button during an active point and the horn sounds in error, the point will be stopped and restarted as per rule 4.3.4

7.6 PENALITES

7.6.1 INCREASED PENALTIES

7.6.1.1 All penalties assessed before the end of point signal will be applied during the current point.

7.6.1.2 All penalties that are assessed after the end of a point signal will be applied at the next point of the current match.

7.6.1.3 All penalties that are assessed after a conceded point, will be applied at the next point of the current match.

7.6.1.4 During a point, in the event that there is not enough live players to serve the penalty, the

13 offending team will start the next point short handed by the amount of players missing to serve the penalty at the end of the previous point.

7.6.1.5 A player who has been penalized is automatically eliminated and must exit the field, in the shortest way possible, towards his own team’s pit area.

7.6.2 Verbal warning

7.6.2.1 A referee may give a verbal warning to a player as a first offence when the player disobeys a referee’s call.

7.6.3 ATTITUDE

7.6.3.1 A player or staff of a team disrespecting an official is eliminated from the current point and is awarded a minor penalty.

7.6.3.2 A player who has been eliminated or penalized and speaks or points while still on the field, in the transition zones or in the penalty box is awarded a minor penalty in exception to rule 6.1.8 7.6.3.3 A player or team member who verbally or physically assaulted or intentionally shoots a player

or staff member of MIPL to injure or intimidate him/ her is eliminated from the current point and will be assessed an ultimate penalty and is automatically expelled for life from the MIPL without refund. See Rule 6.6.12.

7.6.3.4 A player or staff of a team disrespecting another player on the field or off-field is eliminated from the current point and is awarded a minor penalty.

7.6.3.5 A major penalty and a possible expulsion may be assessed to a team participating in a match and having any of its players or staff members in the pit area or the side lines, talking, disrupting or insulting a player or MIPL staff on the field during a current point. (See rule 8.) 7.6.4 PLAYING ON

7.6.4.1 A player continuing to play with an obvious hit is eliminated from the current point and will be awarded a major penalty.

7.6.4.2 A player who has declared themselves hit or is declared hit for all other reasons, other than those mentioned in regulation 6.6.4.1 and continues to play is awarded a major penalty.

7.6.4.3 A player being caught wiping a paint hit during a current point is awarded a major penalty.

7.6.4.4 A player who has pressed/touched the Flag Station Point Button with a hit on him is eliminated. The point is annulled and offending player is awarded a minor penalty, which will be assessed for the next point.

7.6.4.5 A player requesting a "Paintcheck" for himself and continuing to shoot his/her marker is eliminated from the current point and awarded a minor penalty.

7.6.5 SPINNING

7.6.5.1 A player who has been eliminated by an opponent in an angle of 90 degrees or more spins and shoots the opponent. This will be considered as spinning and the player in question will be

14 assessed a major penalty. The opposing player may remain in play.(Based on the referee’s discretion).

7.6.6 EQUIPMENT

7.6.6.1 A player who is caught with a marker exceeding 12.5 BPS in a game situation by an official will be awarded a minor penalty.

7.6.6.2 A player who is caught with a marker exceeding 15.0 BPS in a game situation by an official will be awarded a major penalty. The offending marker will be confiscated for the day of the event, security issue.

7.6.6.3 A player who is caught with a marker exceeding 17.5 BPS in a game situation by an official will be awarded a major penalty. The offending marker will be confiscated for the day of the event, security issue. The offending player will also be expelled from the current match and his following match.

7.6.6.4 A player being caught with a marker exceeding 300 ft / sec in a game situation will be assessed a penalty. 301 to 310 ft/sec will be assessed a Minor penalty. 311 and over will be assessed a major penalty.

7.6.6.5 A player who is in default with a marker in a mode other than "PSP", "NXL", "Ramping" or semi-automatic in a game situation, will be awarded a minor penalty. The offending marker will be confiscated for the day of the event, security issue.

7.6.6.6 A player that exchanges of passes off his/her paintball gun to another player once the point has started will be eliminated and he will be assessed a minor penalty.

7.6.6.7 A player that is further than 5 feet from any part of his equipment will be considered eliminated, except for his/her paintball tubes/pods and\or Squeegee.

7.6.7 SECURITY

7.6.7.1 Any player outside the playing field without a PROPER barrel blocking devise on their marker will be awarded a off-field major penalty. See rule 6.6.10.

7.6.7.2 Any player wearing a mask not having a compliant safety strap during a game will be assessed a minor penalty.

7.6.7.3 For security reasons, each player who has been eliminated or who has no right to step on the playing field will be assessed a off-field minor penalty if the enter the playing field prior to the end of the current point. See rule 6.6.10

7.6.7.4 Any player not wearing a paintball mask on the playing field or penalty box while a match is live will be awarded a major off-field penalty.

7.6.7.5 Only the Head Ref will determine when the playing field is “Safe”. Only during a “Safe” field can players walk the field without masks. During this time, no markers are allowed on the playing field.

7.6.8 PAINTBALLS

15 7.6.8.1 During all MIPL matches, only the paintballs sold during the current events can be used. If the Head ref deems that a player or team is using non-compliant paintballs, the team automatically loses the current game. The team ends up with a 0 point score and is automatically awarded a loss without any type of refund. The paintball boxes can be inspected to confirm that the SKU#’s match with the actual paintballs used during the current event.

7.6.9 Dead Man’s Walk

7.6.9.1 A player will be eliminated and expelled from a match in addition to being awarded a major penalty served by another player on the offending team if he attempts to do a "Dead Man Walk". A “Dead mans walk” is when a players acts like he is eliminated and uses it in his advantage to better his/her field position.

7.6.10 Minor Penalty

7.6.10.1 During a point, when a player is assessed a minor penality, he is automatically eliminated and must exit the playing field as quickly as possible by the shortest possible route to his team’s pit area. In addition, another player on his team will be eliminated immediately. The action is considered a 'one for one'

7.6.10.2 During a point, when a minor penalty is awarded to the last live player on the field, the current point automatically stops and no points are awarded to either team. The minor penalty will be served at the next point to be played.

7.6.11 Major Penalty

7.6.11.1 During a point, when a player is assessed a major penalty, he is automatically eliminated and must exit the playing field as quickly as possible by the shortest way route to his team’s pit area. In addition, two players from his team will be eliminated immediately. This action is considered a 'two for one'.

7.6.11.2 If a major penalty is assessed to a team within in the last 90 seconds of a match, the current point will go to the opposing team. The offending team in question will be assessed a major penalty which will start at the next point. If both teams are awarded a major penalty simultaneously within the last 90 seconds of that match, the current point is stopped and no point will be awarded to either team. Teams will be assessed a major penalty starting at the next point. (See Regulation 5.1.7.)

7.6.11.3 During a point, when a major penalty is assessed to the last live player on the field, the current point automatically stops and no points are awarded to either team. The major penalty will be served at the next point to be played. With the exception of Regulation 6.6.11.2.

7.6.12 Ultimate Penalty

7.6.12.1 During a match or event on or off the field, an ultimate penalty is awarded to any player exceeding and / or abusing the limits of an offense recognized and established by the league:

ex. continuing to play while being eliminated and changing the outcome of a point. Verbal or physical aggression, any action that may endanger the safety of an individual at the location of an MIPL event. In a case of assessing an ultimate penalty during a current point, the current point automatically stops and is awarded to the opposing team. In both cases mentioned above, the ultimate penalty is served at the start of the following point from where the offense was committed. The offending team will start that point short handed by three players

16 due to the Ultimate penalty. This action is considered a “Three for one”. The league reserves the right to suspend or ban a player for an indefinite period if he has been assessed an Ultimate penalty.

7.6.13 OFF-FIELD PENALTIES

7.6.13.1 Off-Field Minor penalty will be assessed to the next possible point due to an infraction that was caused off the playing field. This penalty will not impact the point in session but will impact the next possible point. In this case, the “one for one” will not apply.

7.6.13.2 Off-Field Major penalty will be assessed to the next possible point due to an infraction that was caused off the playing field. This penalty will not impact the point in session but will impact the next possible point. In this case, the “two for one” will not apply.

7.6.13.3 An Ultimate off-field penalty is served at the next point. This penalty has no effect on the current point. This penalty will be served on the next possible point. In this case, the “three for one” will not apply.

7.6.14 COLLUSION

7.6.14.1 A team that is caught manipulating or tampering with the opposing equipment will be immediately disqualified for the current season. In addition, the players of the team will be suspended during the complete season. Their situation will be reassessed at the end of the season. The league will decide if players will be able to return for the following season.

8 EQUIPMENT 8.1 MARKER

8.1.1 Each player must have a marker in ‘’PSP’’, "NXL", "Ramping" or semi-automatic mode not exceeding 12.5 balls per second.

8.1.2 Each marker must not exceed 300 ft / sec.

8.1.3 Only .68 calibre markers will be permitted.

8.2 AIR

8.2.1 Each player must have a valid TC (Transport Canada) labelled compressed air or Co2 cylinder.

8.2.2 Each player must have a Compressed Air or Co2 cylinder with a valid Hydrostatic Manufacturing Date or Test in accordance with the laws of Transport Canada.

8.3 MASK

8.3.1 A mask conforms only if it is kept in its original form.

8.3.2 All players’ must wear a mask equipped with a conform safety chin strap. See regulation 7.6.7.2.

17 8.3.3 Wearing the mask is compulsory at all times on the playing field, unless otherwise directed by the Head

Refferee.

8.3.4 If a player touches or presses the button at the opposing team's starting station and is not wearing a compliant mask as mentioned in points 8.3.1. and 8.3.2., no point will be awarded to his team and he will be assessed a minor penalty served on the next point to be played. See regulation 7.5.3.

8.4 DRESS CODE

8.4.1 A player is entitled to wear 2 layers of clothing. If a player presses or touches the point button wearing more than two layers, the point will not disallowed. No penalty will be assessed.

8.4.2 A player is entitled to a maximum of 1 pair of pants.

8.4.3 A player is not allowed to wear a “Hoodie”.

8.4.4 Only women or players aged 12 and under are permitted to wear a chest protector.

8.4.5 It is mandatory that each player plays with the jersey provided by the league, displaying his/her player number.

8.4.6 A player may wear on his head a maximum of two layers of protection. Many items on the market have an excess amount of padding and it will be left to the Head ref’s discretion if those certain items will be allowed on the playing field.

8.4.7 A player may wear a belt under his/her jersey.

8.4.8 No scarves are accepted.

8.4.9 Only neoprene neck protectors with a maximum height of 2 inches and a maximum width of ½ inch are permitted.

8.4.10 No point will be awarded to a team if a player presses or touches the point button and doesn’t follow the proper dress code. However, no penalty will be assessed.

8.5 BARREL BLOCKING SAFETY DEVISE

8.5.1 A player must have Barrel safety devise on the barrel of his marker at all times other then on the live playing field.

8.5.2 A player must have a fabric or rubber barrel blocking safety devise. Only these models are accepted. The Head ref may refuse the use of any barrel blocking devise for security reasons if he deems the barrel blocking device to be unsafe.

8.6 PROHIBITED COLORS

8.6.1 The color yellow is not accepted on any part of the equipment.

8.7 RULES CONCERNING EQUIPMENT

8.7.1 For security reasons, a stoppage of play by an official may be called due to problems with equipment belonging to the league or one or players. In this case, the current point will be stopped and no points will

18 be awarded to either team. A new point will be played when the league officials have corrected the situation and all players are safe.

8.7.2 Any player using non-compliant and non-league approved equipment that may be dangerous to player, staff, or spectator will be eliminated and/or expelled from a game in progress.

9 OFF-FIELD ASSISTANCE- ZERO TOLERANCE

9.1 No off-field assistance is accepted. It is the duty of every spectator and/or participant in the league to enforce this rule. Due to the complexity of the sanctions, the league reserves the right to expel any person or team that does not comply with these rules. As an example, the league refers to golf. It is an unwritten rule that all players/participants respect. This respect should also be applied to Paintball.

9.2 No posters or signs are permitted for encouragement or for strategic purposes by spectators on the outside of the playing field.

9.3 No sound, mechanical or electronic objects are allowed, except those used by the MIPL organization.

9.4 No mechanical or electronic communication device is permitted.

9.5 No player/spectator/coach is entitled to enter the pit area once the match has started. The only participants entitled to be in the pit area must be present before the start of the match and must not leave the pit area during the current match with the exception of purchasing more paintballs. All players/team staff/coach must have a valid team pit pass on them in the pit area at all times during their matches.

9.6 An expulsion is issued to a person who, in his players' pit area, speaks or using a poster to get attention from a player or MIPL referee during a point.

9.7 Drug use at Paintball Mirabel and in the MIPL area is strictly prohibited. Anyone who contravenes the rules established by Paintball Mirabel and MIPL will be expelled from Paintball Mirabel and MIPL for the remainder of the season.

9.8 Players and / or coaches under the influence of alcohol are not allowed to play a game or even to be in players' pits before or during games. Anyone who does not respect this rule will be expelled from the current event.

9.9 The only alcoholic beverages allowed to be consumed at Paintball Mirabel and MIPL are those sold by Paintball Mirabel. Anyone who does not respect this rule will be expelled from the current event.

9.10 The teams finishing in the 1st to 4th positions during the regular season will pass on to the end of season finals.

10 Team Owner

10.1 Team owners who do not comply with the MIPL Rules will have their team expelled from the MIPL without refund.

10.2 A team that is expelled from the league will be replaced by a new team. The games missed by this team will be lost by forfeit. Only the match points played by the new team will be taken into account.

11 INTERRUPTION OF A MATCH IN PROGRESS BY THE LEAGUE

19 11.1 A match may be stopped in the event of extreme weather conditions or damage of league equipment that may

put security at risk.

11.2 In the event that games have been delayed due to weather conditions or damage to the league equipment. A reduced schedule will come into effect. All games to be played will be set with a 12 min game time and teams will start the match with the score of 2-2. This format will continue until the MIPL is back on time with its original schedule.

11.3 In the event that all reduced scheduled matches can’t be played within that day. They will be continued at the next event. All matches at the following event will be set as reduced schedule until the MIPL is back on time with its original schedule. At that point, games will be played as usual.

11.4 In the event that the MIPL can’t play all the remaining regular season match’s by 5pm at Event#4. The remaining games will be scored as follows. Unplayed games will be set with a score of 3-3. Both teams will be awarded 1 seat point each.(Tie)

12 OTHER RULES

12.1 The League reserves the right to change any rules at any time during the season, for security reasons or for the benefit of the League.

12.2 Any player or team that acts in a way that manipulates the MIPL rules and effects the outcome of any match will be considered as an unsportsmanlike conduct and the player/team may be expelled from the league without any refund.

12.3 All decisions of the Ultimate Referee are final, except in decisions that affect suspensions and expulsions.

12.4 Decisions made on the field are based on the interpretation of the rules by the Head Referee.

12.5 No elimination can be canceled. (Ex: once a player is eliminated, the player remains eliminated regardless of the situation)

13 EVENT DATES

13.1 Available on the league's website at www.mipl.ca 14 SUSPENTION

14.1 A player may not guest for any team while he/she is suspended by the MIPL.

15 GUESTING

15.1 In order to guest for a team, the player in question must be rostered on a team in a MIPL lower ranked Division.

15.2 A guest must wear the jersey that was issued to them from their lower ranked team or a MIPL Generic Jersey. The guest is not entitled to wear the official jersey of the team he/she will guest with.

15.3 NT5 teams are entitled to have 2 guests per match for any MIPL championship match as long as the team in question signs in a maximum of 10 players (including guests) per match.
