1. Introduction

In December 2011, the Tata Institute of Social Sciences set up the School of Vocational Education (SVE) to provide immediate and definite interventions to improve the lives of disadvantaged and marginalized youth, especially those who are excluded by the formal school education system, through appropriate

vocational training programs. It has been set up with a vision of creating an ecosystem that would bring back the dignity of labor for blue collar streams of work and create sustainable sources of income. This project has been initiated under the aegis of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)

proposed by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

1.1Introduction and Course Objectives:

Desktop Publishing (DTP) is the creation of electronic forms of information such as documents, presentations, flyers, books, or even website content using computer programs. This course provides DTP training according to the current requirement of IT industry. Desktop publishing is the use of the computer and software to create visual displays of ideas and information. It refers to the process of using the computer to produce documents such as newsletters, brochures, books, and other publications. It was once created manually using a variety of non-computer techniques. along with large complex photo typesetting machines. Publishing documents may be for desktop or commercial printing or electronic distribution including PDF, slide shows, email newsletters, and the Web.

1.2. Eligibility for Admission

The candidate should pass 10+2 in any discipline 1.3. Employability/Skill enhancement

Undergoing the desktop publishing certificate will give the students an upper hand in comparison to others as they will receive additional specialized training as follows:

 Basic Computer skills required in Business & office.

 Basic knowledge of safety at work place and communication skills

 Basic operating skills on Windows 7/8

 Expertise in MS Office

 Use various internet services

 Manage Hardware & Software within system
