I. Executive Summary A. Introduction

The number of users of live streaming services has continued to grow. We all live in an ever-increasing video world.

According to the 2019 iiMedia Research, in China8, the number of users of online live streaming platforms has increased by 14.6 percent, reaching 504 million users. In 2018, 78 percent of Facebook users have watched live stream videos and broadcasts9. This number continues to double year after year since the concept’s debut. Experts even predict that the live streaming industry will be worth $187.4 billion by the year 2027. Live streaming, as a real-time broadcast media through the internet, isn’t an entirely new notion. However, through the improvement of technology, it has become accessible to a larger audience. This has helped the platform develop a commercial model and promote interactions in mass communication fields.

Live streaming provides a whole new level of connection between brands and their supporters/fans. It gives the audience a chance to watch events unfold as they happen. They can interact with content developers in real-time and vice versa while viewers can make requests and provide feedback. It is deemed to take a similar approach to an actual face-to-face conversation.

As the live streaming industry is expected to reach over $70 billion in 2021¹, many experts are expecting it to grow even further in technology but also in cutting costs, due to the growing popularity of cord-cutting. Cord-cutting is the process of getting rid of cable connections and switching to a low-cost TV subscription broadcast over the internet. The significant advantage is not only in cutting costs but also in the fact that live streaming isn’t time-constrained. It allows users to receive content in real-time, or at a future date, and reap the benefits.

Many businesses are also using live streaming platforms to reach their audience in a way that is both engaging and entertaining.

The LiveView live streaming service is a blockchain-based platform that connects

(4)

applications of widespread content sharing.

On LiveView, you can choose any videos from other platforms around the world and select which video you want to watch from which platform.

LiveView will enable Viewers from all over the world will be able to:

Search and see all current live streams from different platforms.

Use one platform to search for videos, and select which one to watch.

Can purchase STRM to gift live streamer; and

Earn STRM by watching ads on the platform.

View LiveView-based streams on other streaming platforms Meanwhile, Streamers will be able to:

Stream from LiveView platform

Allow streamers to do live stream 24/7

Engage with their viewers

Receive STRM from their viewers

Create a live broadcast on LiveView and multi-stream to other platforms at once

Stream from other platforms and broadcast the stream within LiveView

LiveView intends to integrate blockchain technology to connect online users with streamers in a modern and digitally enhanced way. It will focus on providing the first-ever all-in-one live streaming platform that is blockchain-based.

The beauty of having so much live video streaming to watch on one platform is that there are dozens of combinations of powerful features. Viewers can choose whichever they want. That means also that if the first option has bad video resolution, you can watch other relevant live streams available from your searches. At the same time, anyone can also do their live streaming within the LiveView platform. Aside from this, the streams within LiveView can also be broadcasted to other platforms and vice versa.

B. Competitors

Live streaming has developed into a booming industry. Even though it slowly began stepping into the entertainment industry, it has already made major strides. For quite a long time, Twitch held most of the market share on live streaming². Twitch focuses specifically on games and gaming-related streams. Although YouTube has introduced its own live stream that users can tune into, it is still fairly recent. Even Facebook and Instagram have jumped into the streaming market with Facebook Live and Instagram Live, respectively.

A growing number of viewers of live streaming is creating the opportunity for the live video streaming solutions market. Presently, there has been an exponential increase in live video streaming options where viewers can stream live content from an online source. These options generate broad-ranging opportunities for consumers who now have better control of when they watch, what they watch, and how they watch their favorite content. However, there is still a gap in the market for enabling a two-way commercially focused interaction between streamers and viewers. In addition to that, there is also a lack of platforms that allow access to streams from various platforms to come into one, while also allowing the reverse — which is the streaming with one platform then sending it to multiple streaming platforms.

II. Market Changes & Needs A. Major Changes

Live streaming is an appealing opportunity for providers and rights holders. It offers them a chance to instantly communicate with their target audience and promote new revenue streams. According to a global study conducted by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) on the consumer’s point of view, the major motivation for live streaming content is the need of staying in tune and up-to-date.

Nowadays the live streaming industry offers — to producers and consumers — a giant spectrum of options and outlays. Its applicability in business cases and especially relating to commercial services are still being explored and developed. Additionally, the quality of video streaming has been heightened, as well as the speed of the streaming itself. In fact, even if we consider the past few years, the changes have been massive.

(6)

Going back to 2013, it was demanding for broadcasters to deal with encoders, transcoders, networks, servers, CDNs, and web players to produce a live streaming video. Small and mid-size institutions or individuals couldn’t manage the complexity and the costs of the live streaming industry. After some years, companies like YouTube, Facebook, and Vimeo started appearing and have thus changed the market ever since.

Cloud computing became the self-regulated core of complicated features such as transcoding and distribution. With this, the previous working procedures were combined into simplified and effective platforms. In parallel to this, one of the biggest changes in the past few years is related to the devices used to view live streaming videos. The consumers of today have shifted significantly to using mobile devices for the consumption of video content and live streaming. This trend is in line with the desire to stay in touch and be updated with current trends coincides with the requirement to be on the move and increasingly busy lives. Traditionally consumed through television sets, video content first moved to cloud computing platforms and then became a two-way channel for consumers and streamers to interact through live streams.

The assumed popularity of this entertainment channel is mirrored in statistical proof.

For instance, as per Statista, 239 million people watched streaming videos across all devices in just the US in 2020. Added to this, live streaming events increased by 300%

between March to August 2020³.

(7)

The major changes to the live streaming industry are directly proportional to the increase in the percentage of people watching from all around the world. In most cases, consumers prefer to pay for streaming video services because they want to watch shows and movies which they can’t get anywhere else. However, in terms of live updates and trending news, the current has shifted more in the favour of individual streamers. Looking for a more personal experience, content consumers prefer watching live streams over recorded content4. This paired with the ease of accessibility for this content, such as through popular social platforms (Instagram, Facebook, etc.) have amplified viewership.

B. Industry Characteristics

Live streaming refers to online streaming media that is recorded and broadcast in real-time5. As mentioned above, the live streaming industry has been significantly increasing in popularity for the past few years. One of the main characteristics of live streaming is access to shows and movies which users couldn’t get anywhere else.

Experts have also identified other unique characteristics of the live streaming industry.

For instance, most of the platforms have live streams that are automatically recorded and uploaded into media libraries as video-on-demand (VOD). Particularly, most of them are also able to accept streams from third-party encoders (RTMP URL + stream key).

Special product announcements or launches (live), in parallel with the opportunity for the public to react in real-time, have created unique advantages when compared to mainstream television services. The live streaming industry has also reduced management complexity. Modern streaming allows broadcasters or organizations to merge video network traffic to HTTP, using TCP ports 80 and 443. Furthermore, it removes the requirement of deploying and managing an individual caching infrastructure.

Live streaming has also proven to be scalable. Its compatibility with HTTP servers is a major step to reaching everybody from anywhere around the world. Additionally, the protocol’s inbred support for mirroring and edge caching makes HTTP the ideal choice for streaming large-scale live events and frequently accessed, on-demand content.

(8)

The industry has also improved the playback feature on modern streamings; the use of HTTP servers and large-scale codecs helps guarantee compatibility with a variety of mobile devices. On the other hand, adaptive bitrate streaming supports employees around the globe. In this way, consumers can have the best playback experience either at their desks, on gigabit ethernet, or in the field consuming media over a 4G network.

Some advanced features are only characteristics of specific live streaming platforms.

For example, Vimeo Live offers users the possibility of restreaming their videos on four different platforms. Also, Digital Rights Management — although already considered common — is a particular characteristic present in some platforms but not all.

Platforms such as YouTube mute or remove VOD streams containing copyrighted music playing in the background.

Nevertheless, the live streaming industry has been investing in features such as monetization, customizable design, live embedding, advanced real-time, and integrated google analytics. However, these characteristics have become regular; and most paid platforms provide more advanced features.

C. Problems Within the Industry

Live streaming viewers are more likely to watch free content than paid content. This raises important questions about the limitations and challenges of live streaming. Users look for content on different platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram.

Also, the limitation for viewers on watching just on one platform does not allow them to see all related content on other platforms that are live at the same time. As of now, there is also an absence of a platform that allows viewers to watch live streaming videos from different platforms in one place and that is user-friendly.

Furthermore, some platforms have certain limitations on supporting streamers with the existing payment option. For example, when viewers want to send money as a support to some streamers, they are not able to because they live in a country that is not included on the platform’s list of accredited locations. This is a loss for streamers as they can have minimal earnings and less viewership. Same goes with viewers, as they cannot support some of their favorite streamers from other geographical areas.

For streamers, it is also best to have a platform that has minimal lags. If you’re a streamer and you experience lags all the time, this could reduce viewership rate as the

(9)

platform quality is not great.

On another note, many streamers are not being equitably compensated for their creations8. As a consequence, they resort to paid advertisements, ranging from advertising products through incorporating them within their live streams, or in the case of YouTube, letting advertisements be placed alongside the video. YouTube also pays streamers directly, but this is only after they generate a certain amount of revenue through ad placements. Streamers on other popular platforms such as Instagram are most often approached to do product promotion and advertisements in return for either PR packages or much less often, monetary compensation. This reduces the incentive to become a content creator, especially in the case of live streams since they would have to sponsor their content, and would in most cases have to continue doing day jobs. This increases the probability of burnout and unneeded stress for them.

Another difficulty associated with the pressure over the streamers is to keep the content cadence while putting out a high-quality resolution. This also applies to viewers where there are only a few high-quality live streams while they are watching.

III. LiveView

(10)

A. Overview

The core concept of LiveView is to provide an all-in-one platform for viewers to be able to watch and choose whichever videos they want around the world, from different live streaming platforms. Not only that, but live streaming is also available on the platform.

With the help of our experts and developers, we make sure that live streaming will never be a hassle to go live. With LiveView’s technology, it’s also possible to relay the streams to other streaming platforms without any latency delays.

It offers a highly scalable and completely decentralized live video streaming network protocol that has crypto token incentives and creates a solution cheaper to traditional app developers and broadcasters using centralized live stream solutions.

LiveView will also provide a smart platform for streamers to connect more with their viewers. In fact, in the future, it aims to have a machine learning integration where automated live translation is possible. Hence, viewers can watch whichever nationality, whatever language the streamer is speaking while doing the live stream. Although this may take time, the LiveView team is looking forward to enhancing and developing the platform to give better navigation for both streamers and viewers.

More so, Viewers can send gifts to support their preferred streamers using STRM regardless of geographical location, the platform’s native token. LiveView will also offer its own Wallet in the future so that viewers and live streamers can keep their coins securely. With this, everyone can access, monitor, and monetize their STRM.

B. Technology and Features

LiveView transforms the familiar communication channel of live streams into an all-in-one blockchain-based platform. Both Viewers and Streamers can enjoy the LiveView platform that has a decentralized, peer-to-peer network platform.

(11)

• A blockchain-based live streaming platform for protecting video archives

• A novel video integrity mechanism based on blockchain for protecting from tampering (detection of deepfake videos and images)

• A detailed blockchain-based video delivery model using advanced network services chains

• A platform for collaboration among various providers using network service chains

• The decentralized distribution of content through Peer to Peer (P2P) networks where the data is shared by participating nodes (clients)

The broadcaster is an over-the-top service provider or a user who wants to deliver a live video over the network to the viewers (streamers).

To encode and/or transcode a video along with encryption and packaging, the broadcaster can use decentralized transcoding solutions where various entities act as “transcoding” nodes to perform these tasks in return for encrypted data in the blockchain.

(12)

the distribution of the video. Such nodes can help reduce network latency as well as provide high scalability.

Distributed Ledger

With the application of distributed ledger technology, transactions are replicated, shared, and synchronized across nodes running throughout the world.

Enterprise-Grade Encryption

Network transactions in the LiveView platform are cryptographically secured, preventing any form of data alterations through hacking and network breaches.

Machine Learning Integration

The LiveView platform integrates machine-learning artificial intelligence to create a seamless user experience in various elements within the network.

Viewers can interact with their favorite streamers directly through non-video channels such as through direct messages and comments. Likewise, streamers will be able to see who is attending their live stream and how many viewers are tuned into them within all the platforms.

Meanwhile, Viewers on the platform can attend live streams of their favorite streamers for free. They can decide which live stream to watch on whichever platform they prefer. Users can select on the LiveView app separate categories for different kinds of streamers such as “Lifestyle”, “Makeup”, “Cars”, or “Food”. Based on the content they are interested in, users will be shown live streams relating to that using LiveView’s integrated Machine Learning feature. Also, based on any platform, LiveView can catch it and show if something is live on other live streaming platforms. Basically, a platform that is useful for checking out all types of content and all available platforms.

Furthermore, the platform has implemented an advanced service mechanism. It provides a search filter process for the content provided, including nationality, gender, age, and distance. This search function is used by both content producers and active users to filter through unwanted or unnecessary content.

C. Benefits

Our platform enables viewers to obtain content anytime and anywhere in the world.

It provides an integrated service using live streaming technology and self-generated

(13)

crypto flows. Users find value in real-time, regardless if it’s live or broadcast in a later period, by either viewing and inquiring about the content or simply by creating it.

• It will help both viewers to save time on searching on different platforms.

• It helps conveniently relay streams to other platforms

• It allows other platform’s streams to be played on LiveView simultaneously

• It allows streamers and viewers to engage more easily.

• Viewers will have the convenience using the LiveView platform.

• Managing alerts and filtering videos from all platforms on LiveView.

Ex) Choose one of the categories “beauty” on LiveView to search all videos related to all platforms.

Ex) Set alerts for live game videos and get notifications for all videos related at once.

• Providing subtitles in different languages are also part of the future features.

Thus, it can help viewers to watch live streams from other nationalities with other languages.

• In the future, streamers will also be able to do simulcasting. Thus, streamers can reach a wider audience.

• LiveView will allow all users to stream using our features in the platform.

Viewers can even send STRM to their desired streamers across the world as it promotes a cross-border feature. More so, they can convert their STRM into cash at various exchanges listing the coin in the future.

Streamers can access a platform where it’s gonna reach a lot of viewership. This is because the platform offers borderless and no geographical limitation. Whereas, you can stream anywhere and anytime.

Apart from this, one of the best things a streamer can give back to his viewers is to give them a giveaway event in which STRM can be one of the rewards options.

Through this, streamers and viewers can have a special connection and interaction.

Meanwhile, Viewers from all over the world will be able to attend these live streams anytime. They can choose whichever video and whichever platform they desire. As viewers, this is one of the great benefits that STREAM provides. Viewers can access everything on one platform.

(14)

Along with this, content on the platform will be prefiltered based on individual users’

preferences. In the future, this feature will utilize a machine learning algorithm, presenting users with content based on their watch history.

In the next few years, Viewers can also start to earn STRM themselves for use on the platform in return for watching advertisements on LiveView. Last but not the least, once STRM is listed, viewers can convert their STRM into cash at various exchanges listing the coin.

(16)

E. LiveView Wallet

STREAM(STRM) will be integrated into a LiveView Wallet. The recommended rewards in the platform will be focusing on the STRM but also accepts other coins for better accessibility to everyone. LiveView connects users worldwide by rewarding them with STRM, allowing them to utilize the cryptocurrency in the live streaming market.

Whenever viewers on the platform attend live streams of their favorite streamers by paying any stipulated charges, they can use the LiveView Wallet for sending and receiving the STRM. Moreover, when a viewer watches an advertisement, they will also get coins after they finish watching the ad. By then, it can be kept on the LiveView Wallet.

The LiveView Wallet also plans to offer a staking option in the future. With this, the streamers and viewers will have the opportunity to gain while leaving their money in the wallet and staking it. Because they stake that amount without using it, they are rewarded. This is how staking can become rather profitable.

(17)

IV. LiveView Streaming

Choosing the right Stream Settings in LiveView

Having settings that are too high for your computer’s hardware can cause performance issues for your live stream. For new streamers, LiveView has an Auto Optimize feature that automatically scans your internet speed and computer hardware to give you our recommended settings. Access this feature by navigating to Settings > General. It’s a fantastic way to jump right in without having to mess with the finer details. If you are more technically savvy, you can adjust settings within Liveview to help ensure optimal quality.

Change Quality and Resolution

The output of your video resolution can have a significant impact on the quality of your live stream and the performance of LiveView. For example, streaming at 1080p vs 720p will double the number of pixels, meaning your computer will be using more resources. Adjust your resolution accordingly, but know that there will always be the 1080p option as the highest one.

We recommend lowering the resolution since streaming in 1080p can have a significant impact on your CPU. We recommend lowering the Output (Scaled) Resolution to 1280x720 for a good balance between performance and quality.

Change the CPU Usage Preset

NVENC presets range from low-latency, optimal performance, and max quality. We recommend starting with the “Quality” preset and experimenting from there to find what works best for you.

x264 offers a range of usage preset. This refers to how fast the CPU encodes video.

The faster it encodes, the less CPU it uses. By default, this is set to “Very Fast”, which provides the best balance between performance and quality.

Enable Adaptive Bitrate

In the future, Liveview will include a feature called Adaptive Bitrate. This feature allows our software to automatically adjust your bitrate based on network conditions to prevent dropping frames.

(18)

Remember, if your computer and internet speed can’t handle the bitrate you’ve set, you may experience dropped frames to improve the stability of your stream and minimize latency.

Edit Bitrate Manually

It is also possible to manually edit your bitrate. The following specs are provided by Twitch for NVIDIA NVENC depending on the resolution and frame rate you would like to achieve. We recommend streaming at 720p 30fps to get the best performance out of your streaming software.

1080p 60fps

Resolution: 1920x1080 Bitrate: 6000 kbps Rate Control: CBR

Framerate: 60 or 50 fps Keyframe Interval: 2 seconds Preset: Quality

B-frames: 2

1080p 30fps

Resolution: 1920x1080 Bitrate: 4500 kbps Rate Control: CBR

Framerate: 25 or 30 fps

Keyframe Interval: 2 seconds Preset: Quality

B-frames: 2

(19)

720p 60fps

Resolution: 1280x720 Bitrate: 4500 kbps Rate Control: CBR

Framerate: 60 or 50 fps Keyframe Interval: 2 seconds Preset: Quality

B-frames: 2

720p 30fps

Resolution: 1280x720 Bitrate: 3000 kbps Rate Control: CBR

Framerate: 25 or 30 fps

Keyframe Interval: 2 seconds Preset: Quality

B-frames: 2

It is important to remember that everyone’s setup is going to be different, so you should experiment with the settings yourself to find out what works for you.

V. STREAM Mainnet

(20)

STREAM is based on Binance Smart Chain (BSC) as of now, but as we pass the development stage it will swap to the STREAM Mainnet which is currently underway.

Once the mainnet design is complete, the STREAM Mainnet will be swapped to support the LiveView ecosystem. It will include various enhanced features that offer great advantages.

It is expected to make a fast and stable transaction processing capacity. Through this, the transition to its mainnet in the future will allow the blockchain to handle more transactions per second. As a result, they can achieve an improved version of its consensus algorithm to Proof of Stake Authority.

More so, LiveView will then lay out a communication network solution for its platform.

Here, live streamers will be provided with the communication network database.

Thereby assisting them in attracting members in the early stages.

VI. STREAM (STRM)

Geographic mobility, and multi-currency acceptance, also contribute to the current payment system becoming obsolete.

(21)

Proof of Stake Authority

The STREAM shall use the Proof of Stake Authority (PoSA) consensus algorithm which is a hybrid of Delegated Proof of Stake and Proof of Authority. PoSA is considered by many as a more efficient and democratic version of the preceding PoS mechanism.

With the help of PoSA, it will allow the platform to have a real-time transaction from Viewers to Streamers. Moreover, this gives an edge to BEP-20 by the means of having a cheaper fee on all transactions.

Compared to PoW and PoS which are the usual algorithms used by others, PoSA will be beneficial for not just the streamers, but also the viewers. With this, the platform will attract more participation across the world.

A. Technical Structure

STRM is a cryptocurrency issued on the Binance Smart Chain platform, a BEP-20 token.

It will initially have a total supply of 8,800,000,000. It is the native token of the LiveView Ecosystem. Binance Smart Chain (BSC) is an Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible blockchain capable of executing smart contracts and running applications.

With the help of these functions, Binance Smart Chain can support applications such as the LiveView platform.

B. Purpose and Function

Within LiveView is our own ecosystem built based on our native cryptocurrency, the STREAM with ticker (STRM). This is used within the platform as a means for rewards, trading, and holding and is to be listed in external systems.

Since the platform will be working 24 hours a day for 7 days a week, any issues relating to time zones can be avoided. Viewers and Streamers can also buy STRM from cryptocurrency exchanges regardless of their geographic location, and easily transfer the currency on the application.

(22)

Apart from this, LiveView will also connect viewers worldwide by rewarding them with STRM, allowing them to utilize the cryptocurrency in the live streaming market. Hence, if a viewer lives in Australia but the live streamer is based in Mexico, he/she can send the STRM without worrying about a huge transaction fee to send STRM.

Also, token holders can use their STRM for any transactions related to the LiveView platform.

Given that STRM is issued on the Binance Smart Chain platform, STRM can be stored on all Binance Smart Chain-compatible wallets such as LiveView Wallet, MetaMask, Binance Chain Wallet, Trust Wallet, Math Wallet, and SafePal.

C. Advantages of STREAM

Highly secure transactions

Developers made sure that our Streamers and Viewers are guaranteed safe and secure coins to hold, and trade, without the risk of hacks or cybercrimes7.

Borderless transactions

LiveView’s fully decentralized protocol allows live streamers and viewers to access the platform from anywhere in the world. They can also send or receive coins regardless of geographical location.

Direct and instant transactions

Users on the platform will not need to go through any middleman and can instantly send and receive the coin.

D. Token Distribution

Ecosystem & Marketing

30% of the funds will be for marketing initiatives including airdrops and ecosystem expansion strategies.

Founding Team

10% of STRM for company founders, current, and future employees at LiveView.

(23)
