Parents &/or Guardians,

As part of our 5th grade curriculum at Bryant Elementary we will be taking our 5th graders to the

YMCA Camp Classen facility in Davis, OK October 26 – October 30, 2020. I know this seems like a long time away, but I want you to be thinking about the Camp Classen process. Planning for camp takes an immense amount of time. For this reason, I will be working with each parent to ensure everything is taken care of for your child.

Camp Classen is a WEEK long experience where your child will have the opportunity to learn hands on through various methods. During this week your child will be spending their time at the YMCA Camp Classen facility in Davis, OK. Yes, this means a week away from home and school. This may be a first-time experience for many students. Once your child is at the camp and having fun the anxiety and fear of being away from home will subside.

Our days and evenings at camp will be packed full of activities that are guaranteed to be fun, yet engaging and educational. This educational experience cannot be given in the classroom. Our goal is to see every 5th grader attend. If you start saving now this will be an affordable opportunity for your

child. Camp tuition is $260 per student. We will have TWO fundraiser opportunities. One this spring, and one in the fall when we return to school. Please do not rely solely on fundraisers to pay your child’s camp tuition. Set aside money now to help cover the cost. I can begin accepting payments as early as the first day of school in August. Students who do not attend Camp Classen will be required to attend school like normal.

I have included a general timeline for Camp Classen in this packet. The timeline includes dates that information is due to me. Please save this timeline. A Camp Classen meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday March 31, 2020 at 5:30pm in the Bryant Cafeteria. Please plan to attend this meeting to learn about our Camp Classen program and ask any questions that you may have. We need every parent in attendance for this information. We will have a sign in sheet for each 4th grade class.

In August, your child will receive a packet of IMPORTANT forms that MUST be completed, signed, and returned for your child to attend Camp Classen. YOUR CHILD WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ATTEND CAMP CLASSEN WITHOUT THE COMPLETED FORMS! Please pay attention to due dates on as this information is time sensitive.

I know this can be an overwhelming experience and I am here to help anyway that I can. If you start planning and saving now Camp Classen can be a reality for your child. Please reach out to me via email or by phone if you have questions. I am here to help and want to see all students attend camp.

Thank you, Blake Wood
