“And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think
that they will be heard for their many words.

what you need before you ask him.

“Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.

Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.

as we also have forgiven our debtors.

but deliver us from evil.

Holy, Holy, Holy (Hymn)
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee. Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty!
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!
Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore Thee,
Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea; Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee, Which wert, and art, and evermore shalt be.
Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide Thee, Though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see, Only Thou art holy; there is none beside Thee, Perfect in pow’r, in love, and purity.
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All Thy works shall praise Thy name, in earth, and sky, and sea. Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty!
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

Sunday School Review
Today I learned about ... “Samson.” Before Samson was born, an angel of the Lord came to his parents and told them they would have a baby boy. As a sign that he was a special servant for God, Samson was never to cut his hair. The long hair was a symbol of that strength. Everyone wanted to know what made Samson strong, but he would not tell. His enemies were always trying to trick him into telling, and even though they told him they would kill him, he still wouldn’t tell. Samson fell in love with a woman named Delilah. She did not love God. The Philistine rulers told her if she could find out what made him strong they would pay her a lot of money. She pleaded with Samson, but he wouldn’t tell her. She even tied him up, but he always broke the ropes. One day after pleading, Samson broke down, and told Delilah the secret of his great strength. She went to the rulers, and they snuck in that night while Samson was sleeping and shaved his head. His strength was gone. They blinded Samson and put him in prison. The people were happy; they wanted Samson out of prison so he could amuse them. They set Samson between the two support pillars of the temple. There were thousands of people on the roof watching. Samson prayed to God to forgive him, and to strengthen him. Samson gave a mighty push on the pillars. They began to crack and the whole temple fell on Samson and all the people in it. God forgave Samson and gave him back his mighty strength, and Samson won a victory for all of Israel that day.
MAIN TRUTH:
God gives us strength in times of trouble.
FAMILY TIME: Read this story in the Bible. Talk to your child about how God gives us strength when we need it, and that he will always help us in times of trouble if we only ask.
KEY BIBLE VERSE: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46: 1
1. Who was the strongest man in the Bible?
2. What made Samson strong? 3. Who gave Samson his
strength?
4. Who did Samson fall in love with?
5. Did Delilah love God? 6. Did God forgive Samson? 7. Will God help us be strong in
