v5.69.109SPB.109 SPB SABER System Installation & Database Upgrade

Getting Prepared

Please read the Installation Documentation before attempting to install SABER. This documentation will provide you with a clear understanding of the installation and database upgrade process.

System Requirements

Please Note: Client workstations running Windows NT are no longer supported. All

workstations must be upgraded to Windows 2000 or higher.

These requirements apply to both server and each client machine being upgraded. They are necessary to support the 5.69.109SPB.109 version of FASTER. Without

them FASTER will not function properly. Please verify that your server and

client machines meet each of the requirements listed below.

FASTER Version 5.58.164 SPC / 5.69.109/ 5.69.109 SPA.

• Windows 2000/XP, Windows 2000/2003 Server with the most recent service pack or Windows 2003R2.

• .NET Framework v1.1 with service pack 1 on the application. server, database server and all clients. The .Net Framework must be installed via Windows Updates and the current service packs must be applied.

• MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Component) v2.8 SP1. This is provided on the CD but should be checked on the web at the Microsoft Data Access site (Http://www.microsoft.com/Data) or the Windows Update

• MS SQL Server 2000 SP4 or 2005 with most recent service pack .

• IIS version 5 (for Windows 2000) or version 6(for Windows 2003/XP) on Saber Server. Required for Equipment Template and work order E-Request.

• Internet Explorer 6 or above (for Work Order E-Request).

v5.69.109SPB.109 SPB SABER System Installation & Database Upgrade

Things to know before you begin

• Sites using Customized Interfaces or Custom reports need to notify CCG Systems 60 – 90 days in advance before upgrade.

• You must be logged in as a member of the Administrative group of this machine to install SABER Service properly.

• Make sure you know the SA password for SQl server.

• If you have made any changes to the database (i.e. add columns, views, stored procedures, constraints triggers, etc.), it is likely that those alterations will be overwritten or deleted.

• Decide which client computers will have Eq-Template installed. • Decide which client computer will have Reports installed.

• Users who customize their own reports will have to upgrade them to Crystal XI in order to add them to the Report Runner. If you do not upgrade these reports, you can only run them through the Crystal program.

• FASTERUIDWebService must be installed on the Application (SABER) server in order to use Equipment Template.

• If you used any toolbars for the FASTER application other than the FAppLaunch, they will not be useable with 5.69.109SPB.109 SPB.

• During the Installation of the applications and utilities, the system performs an OLEDB test. If this test fails, an automatic rollback will occur. If this happens, call CCG Customer Support for further assistance.

• EQ Template is a special use applet and should only be installed on certain machines where users will be using it. In order for the Equipment Template to open successfully in FASTER, the user logged on to the computer must have MODIFY permission on the FASTER Fleet Management folder, in order for the applet to open. As the applet is opening for the first time, it creates a file called EQTemplate.exe.config, which is referenced by the applet to locate the UIDWebService server. If the user does not have this permission, the system cannot make the file in the folder, and the user receives an error indicating there is missing permission. FASTER User permission is set in the EEAccount table through the Systems Settings applet\ User Info tab.

Things to do before you begin the installation process

• Perform a backup of the FASTERCS database. This backup should be

separate from your normal backup. Make sure all users are out of the database before backing up or running the installation process.

• Check System Requirements and update if necessary. • Make a backup of all customized reports and FID file.

• Take note of all Zapped table codes and then delete them before the upgrade. You can always Zap them again after the upgrade.

• Change all two-character Radio TLCodes (ERT) to 1 character.

• Run the Remove White Space utility to remove white spaces from the database. This is done using the existing DBUtility. From the Management menu, select DataFunctions/Remove Whitespace.

(3)

v5.69.109SPB.109 SPB SABER System Installation & Database Upgrade

o SABER o Client o FASTERUIDWebService o Graphics Module o Web Applications o DBSyncUtility o DBUtility o Motor Pool o PM Notification
