WHAT IS A VARIABLE ANNUITY? Variable annuities are designed to help meet investment and income objectives for retirement. Contracts offer:

• Tax-deferred growth potential through a range of investment options from a variety of professional money managers

• Flexible payout options to help meet a variety of income needs

• Optional income and investment guarantees for enhanced financial protection

Furthermore, there are fees and charges associated with the purchase and ownership of a variable annuity, including sales charges, premium- based charges and mortality and risk expense charges. The fees and charges will affect values within the contract.

Transfers

Before your annuity date, while your contract is in the accumulation phase, you can transfer assets between the various subaccounts. There is no minimum dollar amount required for transfers. Transfers are generally limited to a maximum of 12 per year, but may differ based on individual fund requirements.

Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA) Option2

Dollar cost averaging (DCA) allows you to take advantage of fluctuating market prices by making scheduled investments, so you can transfer a predesignated portion from a subaccount or the fixed account into a destination subaccount(s) of your choosing on a regular basis. This feature can reduce the average price of your subaccount units over time. Dollar cost averaging does not ensure a profit or protect against loss. You should consider your ability to continue investing during periods of low price levels.

Automatic Asset Rebalancing Option

This feature allows you to establish a desired investment mix and have your assets automatically adjusted on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual basis. It is not available concurrently with Dollar Cost Averaging.

Investment Options

Horizon offers a range of investment options from multiple fund managers. Our variable investment options include domestic, international, industry-specific and fixed income funds from the world’s most recognized fund families and trusted money managers.

Initial Subsequent

Qualified: $50 $50

Non-Qualified: $5,000 $250

WHEN YOU ONLY NEED THE ESSENTIALS

Sometimes, a no-frills adventure

is the best adventure. Just pack the

essentials and get moving.

1 Withdrawals are subject to ordinary income tax. Withdrawals prior to age 59½ may be subject to an additional federal tax penalty

2 Because Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA) involves continuous investing regardless of fluctuating price levels, your clients should carefully consider their financial ability to continue investing through periods of fluctuating prices. Continuous or periodic investment plans neither assure a profit nor protect against loss in declining markets. Guarantees are based on the claims-paying ability of the issuing insurance company and subject to compliance with benefit rules.

Getting to your retirement destination doesn’t have to be complicated, which is why Commonwealth Annuity offers the Horizon variable annuity. With Horizon, you can go anywhere, anytime, with fewer restrictions and lower fees.

After all, you’ve worked hard to build a rewarding retirement, and perhaps even hope to leave some of your nest egg to your family. But with people living longer today, it’s natural to have concerns about outliving your savings. Horizon is a lower cost, surrender charge free variable annuity that provides retirement investors a tax-deferred investment vehicle with lifetime income options.

When choosing an annuity to fund your qualified plan, keep in mind that tax deferral can be achieved through other investment vehicles funding the plan. Horizon offers several options that may be appropriate for your situation.

If simplicity, flexibility and tax deferral are priorities for your retirement strategy, your financial advisor can help you decide if Horizon is right for you.
