XHQ Performance Management

Measure, communicate, evaluate and analyze your operational performance

(2)

XHQ Performance Management is a comprehensive suite of Web 2.0 applications that support the continuous improvement cycle of your operations.

Extending the scalable, proven XHQ framework, XHQ Performance Management provides the means to calculate key performance indicators (KPIs), set operational goals and benchmark performance against them. Leveraging the cross-source data integration available in XHQ Performance

Management enables “fact-based,” decision making from all operational and business data available in your plant. Customers experience an inexpensive deployment cycle based on “out-of-box” industry standards that leverage the world-class experience of Siemens consultants and results in a shorter time- to-value return on investment.

XHQ Performance Management

Measure, communicate, evaluate and analyze your operational performance

(3)

XHQ Performance Management helps integrate the processes of:

Defining and managing key performance indicators (KPIs) Setting operational targets and

performance benchmarks Defining operating envelopes for

improved asset reliability

Associating active alerts with target and operating envelope deviations to allow monitoring by exception of all critical equipment and processes Assigning reasons and comments for

operational and performance gaps Providing plant personnel with analysis

tools to continuously improve plant performance and identify root causes of performance deviations

Performing cross-unit and cross-plant comparisons of performance on a normalized basis for meaningful analysis of best and worst performing assets throughout your corporation.

(4)

Increase workforce efficiency

Enhance personalization of dashboards to allow users to create their own operational targets and active alerts Automated handover reporting process

for shift, day and other operational period reporting

Deliver common contextualized view of information based on role and responsible areas in the plant

Clearly communicate operational and business goals to all levels of the organization through a single common interface

Instant visibility of targets and comments in operating dashboards and visualizations.

Foster continuous improvement cycle Assist in the translation of business

plans to operational targets with the definition of KPIs

Communicate operational targets directly in operational views Provide reasons and feedback on

challenges for meeting assigned targets

Calculate and benchmark KPIs to assess performance

Update plans and targets to account for changing market conditions and operations.

Potential benefits

Real-time management of operational performance

Calculate and monitor plant-, area-, unit- and asset-based performance measures automatically as soon as data is available

Benchmark performance metrics against operational targets, plant and company best-achieved values and industry best-in-class values

Assign reason code and comments for operational gaps

Review and analyze key performance indicator (KPI) performance to identify improvement opportunities.

Lower operating costs due to better asset reliability

Create and manage multiple operating envelopes for critical equipment Enable rapid root cause analysis of

failures, defects and variances Actively alert operations with visual

and e-mail notifications on critical or warning zones

Enable proactive, rather than reactive, operations.

Plan

Define KPIs from strategic objectives Set operational and business targets Define benchmarks to measure

performance

Develop strategy for capturing failure reasons and comments.

Check

Monitor critical equipent by exception Assign reasons for operational gaps Use dashboards for instant insight of

operational performance.

Act

Identify root causes for deviations Review plant feedback

Monitor and analyze KPIs

Perform cross-unit/plant analysis for best/worst actors.

Do

Define operating envelopes and limits Create active alerts for target deviations Automate handover processes and

capturing of critical parameters.

XHQ Performance Management is a key enabler for the continuous improvement cycle

Integrated application modules help enhance collaboration and capture the undocumented expertise of your people

XHQ Performance Management is the tight coupling of XHQ Target

Management, XHQ eLogs and XHQ Alert Notification System. Together these applications can be deployed as an extension to existing XHQ installations or as a standalone application.

The XHQ Performance Management suite plays a key role in maintaining

communications between operators on the plant floor and management using proven work process integration

methodologies. Operational transparency is achieved through a common view of plant performance across the different functional processes from the supply chain, to operations and maintenance, to finished products. Customers are now able to empower stakeholders at all levels of the organization with continuously updated operational key performance indicators (KPIs) in real time.

gCreate KPIs, limits and targets

gAnalyze deviations and reasons

gFeedback new target values

gCreate active alerts and notifications

g All personnel can see targets and current status updated in real time

g Enter reason codes and comments about deviations

g ANS creates alerts and sends notification e-mails

(6)

XHQ Performance Management provides the measurement, analysis and reporting capability for communicating, monitoring and benchmarking key performance indicators (KPIs). In addition to key operating parameters, such as throughput, cut points and other operational temperatures, pressures and flows, XHQ Performance Management can be implemented to calculate and monitor values such as overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), asset utilization (AU), maintenance reliability, energy

intensity index (EII), furnace efficiencies and heat exchanger fouling. Providing real-time calculation and monitoring of these critical KPIs enable plant engineers and management with the information needed to drive optimal performance in today’s competitive environment.

XHQ Performance Management allows your company to unlock the

organizational knowledge and KPIs from disparate sources and capture the wealth of information held only in the minds of experts. This process keeps valuable information available even as your workforce turns over or retires.

With its integrated analysis and reporting tools, XHQ Performance Management helps turn data into actionable information.

XHQ Performance Management components

Target Management

Provides an environment to manage key performance indicators (KPIs) targets for optimal operations Creates limits to define the safe operating envelopes

for critical equipment

Measures and tracks KPIs in real time

Eliminates the delay of “spreadsheet-based” reporting of KPIs

Drill-down capability for detailed performance insight Creates targets and limits in a meaningful information

model tailored to your plant Alert Notification System (ANS)

Allows monitoring by exception of critical operational targets and limits

Automated data collection and condition-based alerting allow for efficient operations

User- or system-based alert subscription and notification configurations

Notifications can be routed via e-mail or SMS messages eLogs

Automated reporting reduces errors with manual paper-based logging systems

Electronically records operator logs and associates them to shifts, assets, events, work orders, etc., allowing for easy searching and filtering

Integrates with the shift handover reporting, morning meeting or intrashift work processes, including the entry of routine parameters

Captures the root cause reasons and comments for operational gaps and down time

Allows users to collaborate and exchange information pertaining to any event or alert

Features

Contextualized, composite KPI calculations based on automated data collection of operational and business data Web-based thin client interface for dashboards,

multi-dimensional analysis, trends and reports Role and functional responsibilities provide context-

sensitive views fully integrated with Microsoft® Windows Active Directory
