Arcare

With a heritage in supported seniors’ living that dates back

to 1969, Arcare has become one of the most innovative

aged care providers in Australia.

From Arcare’s first aged care residence built in 1997, the company has grown to 27 aged care residences with 2451 beds across Victoria and Queensland. Each location is fully accredited by the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency and operates under Arcare’s unique ‘relationship-focused’ care model celebrating and supporting old age and which is considered by aged care experts globally to be at the forefront of elder-care.

Arcare services include dedicated staffing, 24-hour nursing, ageing in place, permanent care, sensitive (dementia) care and respite care. This innovative approach puts the development and deepening of relationships between residents, clients, family and staff above all else.

Arcare is a family-owned business and is ranked in the top ten Australian aged care providers.

Established in 1853, the University of Melbourne is a public-spirited

institution that makes distinctive contributions to society in research,

learning and teaching and engagement.

The Melbourne Medical School is internationally renowned for its global leadership in teaching and training, and health research, policy and practice. Its first students commenced in 1862 (and its first women students in 1887) making it the first medical school to educate doctors in Australia.

The Department of Medical Education (DME) is part of the Melbourne Medical School; it builds on a platform of innovation and educational leadership to focus on four main areas of activity:

• Curriculum development • Curriculum support • Professional development

• Medical education research and evaluation

The global shortage of health care professionals, greater complexity in medical diagnosis and management, and increasing community expectation of good health outcomes has made medical education one of the core academic disciplines. As part of one of the world’s leading universities and medical schools, The DME aims to provide educational programs and consultancies that shape the ideal doctor for the 21st century.
