Introduction
This Guide for families is meant to assist elementary families in
using the systems at the elementary level needed during
remote learning.
Technology changes rapidly, especially at the beginning of
each new school year. Changes will be made to this guide
throughout the school year as new information presents itself
and as quickly as this guide can be updated.
PCCS also has the
home learning hub
available as a one stop
shop for technology assistance. Many links in this handbook
will reference the Home Learning Hub.
If you need to request a device for your student, please go
here
.
If you have further questions that this handbook does not help
email Mrs. Way, Bentley’s media specialist at
or email the tech department at
[email protected]

○ Apple recommends only force closing apps that are
malfunctioning
● Restarting an Ipad
○ If the iPad isn’t functioning properly - ie Apps glitching or shutting
down randomly, and force closing the app didn’t work, you can restart the iPad to try to resolve the issue.
○ To restart the iPad simply press and hold the power button till
prompted to turn the iPad off.
● Soft Reset
○ If the iPad isn’t functioning properly - ie Apps glitching or shutting
down randomly, and powering off/on your iPad doesn’t fix the problem, and you have tried the above, you can perform a soft reset to try to resolve the issue.
○ Press the Home button and the power button at the same time
and HOLD for about 30 seconds. When the white apple appears, you can let go.

power button till you see the white apple again to turn the iPad back on.

iPad Tips and Tricks
● Know common vocabulary as it is related to your iPad.
● Access Spotlight Search
○ RELATED: How to Use macOS' Spotlight Like a Cham
○ To access the Spotlight search interface, go to your iPhone or iPad’s home
screen and swipe to the right. You’ll find the Spotlight search interface to the left of the primary home screen. You can also touch somewhere in the grid of apps on any homescreen and swipe your finger downwards. You’ll see less suggestions when you pull down to search — just app suggestions.
