Less inventory for parts providers.

VDO REDI-Sensor replaces a host of OE sensors, including banded, snap-in and clamp-in types from Beru, Continental, Lear, Pacific, Schrader, Siemens VDO and TRW.

With REDI-Sensor, parts stores can substantially reduce the number of SKUs required to provide full TPMS coverage. Works with all major TPMS scan tools.

If a shop has the TPMS scan tools to handle OE sensors, it’s ready for REDI-Sensor. Unlike other sensors that require the purchase of specialized sensor programming/cloning tools, no additional purchases, training or investments are needed to get started with REDI-Sensor because it is designed to follow OE vehicle relearn procedures. Parts stores can also deliver REDI-Sensor without

worrying whether their customers have the TPMS scan tools necessary to work with it, because all major TPMS scan tools are compatible!

Eliminates lost service opportunities.

Service shops only need to keep a small supply of REDI-Sensors on hand to be ready to service practically any vehicle that comes in. No waiting for a parts delivery, and no lost sales to drivers that can’t leave their vehicle.

Sensor multi-application sensors are not intended for high pressure truck applications and have a

maximum potential pressure reading of approximately 50 psi to 65 psi, but can vary by application

with some TPMS scan tools.

REDI-Sensor multi-application sensors may be used exclusively on a vehicle, or in combination with

other OE or aftermarket sensors on a vehicle, including clamp-in, snap-in, and valveless (banded)

styles.

Excluding part number SE10001HP / SE10001HPR (HP = High Pressure / R = Rubber Stem),

REDI-REDI-Sensor multi-application sensors do not respond to magnet triggering, however REDI-REDI-Sensor

multi-application sensors can be used in combination with OE magnet trigger sensors or as

replacement for all the OE magnet trigger sensors on a vehicle. For vehicles using OE magnet

trigger sensors, continue to use a magnet for the OE sensors and use a TPMS scan tool for

REDI-Sensor multi-application sensors. Note that limited OE magnet trigger sensors will also dual trigger

combinations, OE auto-learn by driving or delta pressure (temporarily adjusting tire air pressure +/- 2

psi, be sure to never exceed maximum inflation pressure on tire sidewall) methods may be used

instead.

and re-verify again upon vehicle relearn completion (particularly for delta pressure method).

Changing to non-OE tires that have a different recommended inflation pressure (plus sizing is a potential

Many vehicle owners incorrectly look for the proper tire inflation pressure on the sidewall of the tire. The proper

Nitrogen is not required, however it is perfectly acceptable for use with VDO TPMS sensors. A filtered air

Tire sealant is not meant as a permanent repair, and the tire/wheel assembly should be promptly demounted,

If necessary, VDO TPMS sensors can be fully submerged in water for cleaning.

When cleaning a TPMS sensor, be very careful to not clog or damage the tire air pressure inlet hole (typically

Some types of metallic window film (tinting) and accessory vehicle electronics or phones can cause interference

with the TPMS.

Tires are the only connection a car has to the road. Their proper maintenance, including proper tire inflation

pressure and regular tire rotation, therefore directly impacts all aspects of driving including handling, braking,

hydroplaning avoidance, ride comfort, MPG/emissions, tire life, and overall vehicle safety. Explaining these tire

facts to your customer will help build perceived value and understanding when there are necessary tire or TPMS

service costs.

Never get creative with TPMS sensor swapping on vehicles. If the TPMS sensor isn’t cataloged from a trusted

Aside from valveless tire inner liner sensors, never use glue with TPMS sensors. Glue is not intended for

installing or repairing snap-in, clamp-in, or banded sensors, and may fail in the harshness of the tire

environment. For valveless tire inner liner sensors, only use the specified glue.

Never use plastic zip ties with TPMS sensors. Plastic zip ties are not intended for installing or repairing sensors,

and may fail in the harshness of the tire environment.

Do not attempt to solder or fuse together any broken components on a TPMS sensor. When a component on a

TPMS sensor is broken, there oftentimes is more damage than immediately meets the eye. Additionally, such

a repair may jeopardize the proper functionality (measurement accuracy, tire air sealing, etc.) of the sensor.

If you need to perform TPMS or tire service, be sure to have access to the locking lug nut key adapter

source for your vehicle, don’t use it.

Do not attempt TPMS sensor battery replacement. Once you open up a TPMS sensor, the protective

waterproofing, anti-static, etc. barrier is destroyed and will result in a non-functioning or highly jeopardized

limited life sensor.

You wouldn’t forget to

change the batteries...

...don’t forget to change the TPMS service parts.

Just like smoke detectors, TPMS can help

save lives. But failure to replace used TPMS

service parts can adversely affect the system

and lead to air loss, blowouts, service

comebacks and serious liability issues for

your shop. That’s why the valve core, seal,

hex nut, washer and cap need to be replaced

every time a tire is dismounted or serviced.

Replacing traditional valve stems was a regular

part of your routine. Now, replacing TPMS

service parts can also give you back the

service work income you’ve been losing as

old-style tire stems are going away.

There’s no doubt about it – TPMS is extremely

important to your customer’s safety. So

change the service parts every time, and

choose VDO for OE-engineered performance.

For additional information, contact:
