If you didn’t have a need for antimicrobial dressings before, you do now.
Covidien AMD antimicrobial dressings are part of a proven prophylactic infection prevention
program. Unlike ordinary sterile dressings which do not provide an effective barrier to bacterial
invasion, Covidien AMD antimicrobial dressings contain 0.2% Polyhexamethylene Biguanide
(PHMB), a bacteria-killing polymer that virtually eliminates bacterial penetration through and
growth within the dressings. PHMB is effective against both gram + and gram – bacteria as well
as yeast and fungi, and effective against common problematic bacteria such as methicillin
resistant Staphlococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin resistant Enterococcus (VRE).
Kendall™ AMD antimicrobial foam dressings have been developed to support your efforts in
managing both moisture and bacterial balance. The dressing is an open-cell polyurethane foam
and is impregnated with 0.5% PHMB. Kendall AMD antimicrobial foam border dressings are
designed to help prevent complications like friction and shear injuries.
NOTE: Do not use Covidien AMD antimicrobial dressings with Dakin’s Solution™
*cleanser or
bleach solutions. These solutions deactivate PHMB and will cause yellowing of the product.
