Degree Programme in Business
Information Technology (BIT)
Degree: Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Duration and scope: 3,5 years, 210 credits
BIT Programme is focusing on Software as Service (SaaS), Cloud Computing and Web Development and emphasizes acquiring practical software development skill in these areas as well as business perpective.
The degree programme allows graduates to work as Web developers designing and implementing web services and websites, software engineers, system analysts and designers. A good deal of business courses supports also IT project management or IT analyst career development.
BIT Degree Programme is based on the most efficient learning and teaching methods in this area. Project-based learning and courses where the students are getting practical skills are included in this programme. Half-a-year practical training period included in BIT curriculum can be carried out in Finland or abroad.

Degree Programme in
Business Management

A BBA degree combines theory, practice and individual experience. It qualifies graduates for planning, expert and managerial posts, as well as many professional tasks requiring a high standard of expertise.
On completion of the programme the graduates will have acquired practical and theoretical skills to work in local and global business environments and they will be capable of working independently as well as part of a team. Graduates will have developed communication and cross-cultural skills as well as competence in information technology and in more than one foreign language.

Degree Programme in Nursing
Degree: Bachelor of Health Care
Duration and scope of studies: 3.5 years, 210 credits
The goal of the degree programme is to educate healthcare professionals, who have got both general and specific knowledge of health care and nursing. The studies enable graduates to work in Finland and abroad in hospitals and health centres as well as in the private sector.
Students receive an in-depth introduction to nursing science and nursing research, so as to be able to contribute to the development of nursing. In the learning process the student formulates links between practical experience and theoretical concepts. Students are offered ample opportunity to promote their personal growth and development also in international environments.
Each study year includes a period of clinical practice in a specific area. The clinical practice can be done in Finland and abroad.

Degree Programme in Social Services
Degree: Bachelor of Social Services
Duration and scope of studies: 3.5 years, 210 credits
The goal of the degree programme is to train professionals in social services. A Bachelor of Social Services is prepared to understand, counsel and support clients of different ages from different walks of life.
The education produces students who are proficient in client-oriented work, as well as in development, planning, guidance and supervision.

Technology
Degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Duration and scope of studies: 4 years, 240 credits
The degree programmes in engineering emphasise studies in technology and its applications. In addition courses in mathematics, physics, communication and foreign languages are relevant in building the competence base needed in future profession. Because the aim of the whole education is to meet the future needs of the region some education are offered in mining as well. The framework of the curricula is based on the international engineering education initiative called CDIO (conceive, design, implement, operate).
There are two degree programmes in youth education degree programme in Electrical Engineering and degree programme in Mechanical and Production Engineering. And one in adult education degree programme in Industrial management. The programmes are carried out mainly in Finnish.

International Business Management
Degree: Master of Business Administration Duration and scope of studies: 2.5 years, 90 credits
A Master’s degree is a way to expand professional proficiency of those who already have a Bachelor’s degree and have acquired at least 3 years of working experience. Studies aiming at a Master of Business Administration degree take about 2.5 years and the scope of the part-time studies is 90 credits. E-learning tools are used throughout the programme which gives students an opportunity to combine studies and work.
The MBA-programme provides a holistic curriculum of multidisciplinary subjects for talents who are aiming to enter into international business environments or who are already working in these environments. A strong emphasis on multicultural practices is included to enhance competencies in the field of entrepreneurship, marketing, management and finance in international business.

Kemi-Tornio University of
Applied Sciences (KTUAS)
Kemi-Tornio University of Applied Sciences works in two neighbouring towns: Kemi and Tornio. There are about 2500 degree seeking students. We provide higher professional education for young people and adults leading to bachelor’s and master’s degrees. We have 15 degree programmes, in four of which the language of tuition and studying is English. The guiding principles of our Curriculum are
internationalisation, multidisciplinarity studies, professional skills and placement of studies in working life.
Kemi-Tornio University of Applied Sciences is famous for international activities both in student and teacher exchanges and development projects.
There are several programmes to finance student and teachers exchanges with both the EU and Nordic countries and other countries as China, Africa, Russia, Canada and USA.
KTUAS and Rovaniemi UAS will merge on 1 January 2014.

The Finnish Higher Education Evaluation Council (FINHEEC) has audited the quality assurance system of KTUAS as a part of national higher education quality assurance. The Lapland University Consortium is a unique form of strategic alliance in Finland, as it comprises a union between Kemi-Tornio University of Applied Sciences, Rovaniemi University of Applied Sciences and University of Lapland.
