AS A GRAPHIC DESIGNER, WHAT CAN I DO TO MAKE A 419-SCAM MORE EFFECTIVE? Project: Swiss Lotto London
In the project Swiss Lotto London i try to position the role for a graphic designer in a scam. Can i as a designer make a scam more effec-tive by making it look more professional? Even when statistics show that 99 percent of the receivers recognise the mail as a scam? (DIGITAL) I took a scam mail that positioned itself as “Swiss Lotto London” and gave it a identity. Then i made a mailing with the same content as the original scam. But now it was designed and looked like any other lottery mailing. Is this enough to make it more succesfull? (PRINT) After that i took the content of the scam out of its digital enviroment. Would it work as a scratch lottery ticket? I mailed 250 letters with again the same content as the original scam throughout Rotterdam. Would the receivers send me their details?
(FILM) Then i decided to sell the story of the “Swiss Lotto London” scam at a network gathering in Rotterdam. I would get into the role as a salesmen from Swiss Lotto London. Together with my associate (an actor from the theater school in Maastricht, Wendy Hoogendijk) we would sell the scam in person. See movie at www.daankemp.nl

a brand activation for the rotterdam based brand goodpeople, mens clothes. idea:
for men: a man buys his clothes only when his girlfriend could wear it. for your girlfriend: girls like men in good clothes, its a testimony of taste both you and your girlfriend look good in goodpeople in clothing.
so let men get intressted in the brand byh looking at a beautifull woman wearing their potential new clothes. fase 1: photo-shoot to announce a action during the fashion event “modefabriek” in amsterdam July 2012. fase 2: bloggers and fashion holland recieve a package with an invitation and are being challenged to try on goodpeople clothes on their girlfriend and post on their site.
fase 3: a unplanned fashion show with the girls who wear goodpeople clothes in a sensual way. its double profit, men see nice clothes and seXy woman. it sticks in their head.

holland. In the book various artists and writers were asked
to give their opinion about things in daily life that they
could do without.
Every student got a chapter and my chapter
was called: Boobies. Written by Joost de Vries.
We were asked to read the chapter and create our own opinion of
the subject. The writer said that the advertisements in daily life
involve way to much boobs and he thinks it could be a bit less.
I do not agree with him and I am totally not bothered by sexy
advertisements.
So I wanted to make a statement. I wanted to create an
advertise-ment in that was made in such a way that I could agree with his
opinion if this was used in public areas.
The posters are extreme examples from the types of adds that
Joost de Vries wrote in his chapter.
