GENERAL INFORMATION

White Flyer orange dome targets will be thrown on 8 trap fields with wired voice releases.

The Club will be open Wednesday from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm for registration and practice. Practice will be between 7:30 am and 8:30 am Thursday through Sunday. Practice rounds are $5.00 for 25 targets . Registered shooting begins at 9:00 am.

ATA daily fees of $3.00, NMTSA fees of $4.00, and ATA Zone fees of $1.00 will be charged daily on your first event.

Lunch will be available Thursday through Sunday. We will have a dinner and the special event Saturday night.

Factory ammunition will be available for sale at the Club. Use of reloads conforming to ATA rules is permitted. Empty shells on the ground become the property of the Club. Currently, we have full RV spots with 50 & 30 amp electricity available. Please call the NRA Whittington Center if you would like a reservation. We only have dry camping available at this time at the Trap Range. No cost to dry camp/park at the Trap Range property. The NRA Whittington Center also has other lodging available. Please call for a complete list and availability. You can reach them at 800-494-4853.

Trap setting will be done before each event by officers of the State Association and/or designated Club officials, per ATA rule Section XIII, E. Should a trap be throwing targets that, although not necessarily illegal, appreciably vary from trap to trap, any shooter may request that the trap be reset, per ATA rule Section IV, G.7. The final decision as to whether or not a trap is to be reset will be made only by shoot management.

If your trap breaks down, take your score sheet and continue shooting on the next trap. A sub-event is 25 targets for Singles and Handicap and 50 targets for Doubles.

All ties in Thursday’s events will be carried over to the next similar event. Friday’s Class Doubles and Singles will carry over into the respective Championship events on Saturday and Sunday. Friday’s Preliminary Handicap shoot offs will be at the conclusion of Friday’s events. If you do not respond to a shoot-off within 15 minutes of the first call, you forfeit the shoot-off.

(5)

Only one trophy shall be awarded to any one person in any separate event. Only Southwestern Zone residents are eligible for Southwestern Zone trophies and added money.

Zone winners and ties in the Class Singles and Doubles on Friday will advance one class for Saturday and Sunday events. Earned yardage will be determined by the number of entries at the Club where the score was broke, not the entire Zone. Classes and yardage will be changed automatically; however, it is the shooter’s responsibility to get his/her card punched for earned yardage.

There is $3,000 ATA added money that will be paid equally to each of the 59 Zone trophy winners and will be mailed to each winner after the shoot. Non-Zone residents are eligible for Club trophies and Zone purse in the Handicap Championship.

All ties will divide on purse and options.

Shoot management reserves the right to change, modify or alter the program at any time, and reject, refund or disqualify any contestant who interferes with the conduct or sportsmanship of the shoot. The management has used reasonable care in the preparation of this program; however, not all issues can be addressed. ATA rules will govern the operation of this shoot. Shoot times and activities not subject to the rules of the Southwest Zone are subject to change without notice.

The NRA Whittington Center and the NMSTA will not be liable for any damages to persons or property, or losses of any kind by any participant or spectator. All persons entering this tournament do so at their own risk and assume all liabilities for any damages or losses caused or suffered by them.

Squadding will be done by computer. A shooter shall be allowed to enter any event and play all of the options or purses at any time prior to the first squad clearing the first sub-event of any new sub-event. All shooters that have pre-squadded must be signed up and paid by 8:30 am or will be dropped from their squad.

Juniors and Sub-Juniors will receive one-half price targets.

100 & 200 straight pins will be awarded by the NRA Whittington Center. No carryovers.

This certifies that the NRA Whittington Center has been authorized to hold a registered trap shoot in Raton, NM on July 14, 15, 16, and 17, 2016 . The Amateur Trapshooting Association rules will govern the shoot and the scores will be included in the official record.

CLASSIFICATION AND HANDICAPPING

Classification will be in accordance with the ATA rulebook using six classes for singles and doubles. There will be no penalty yardage or classes for this tournament. However, the Club has the option to change the class of any shooter at any time during the shoot. A new shooter may be assigned to any class in 16-yards and Doubles events, at the discretion of classification personnel until the shooter establishes his/her known ability. New lady shooters and new sub-junior shooters will be as-signed to the 19 yard line. A new male shooter who has reached his 15th birth-day will be assigned the 20 yard line.

It is the contestant’s responsibility to have his/her average card up to date before approaching the classification table. It is also the contestant’s responsibility to show entire registered ATA shoot-ing history for the current year. Please have your card current and up-to-date when presented to the classifier.

SPECIAL CATEGORIES

Declaration of a special category is voluntary. If a shooter declares a special category, it is the shoot-er’s responsibility to see that the classifier puts him/her in the correct special category. No changes or additions of special category will be allowed after firing his/her first shot. Since All American points will be awarded during this tournament, shooters may declare only one cate-gory. Chair shooters are exempt from this rule.
