TOP FIVE CAPS FACTS
Nearing 900 – Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin scored a goal on Thursday against Chicago and now sits two points shy of 900 NHL
points (477g, 421a). Since entering the NHL in 2005-06, Ovechkin has posted 136 more goals and 45 more points than any other player. In addition, Ovechkin leads the NHL in goals since 2001-02 despite beginning his NHL career in 2005. Only four players have scored more goals (475) in their first 10 seasons than Ovechkin (Wayne Gretzky, Mike Bossy, Mario Lemieux, Brett Hull). The Moscow native ranks first in franchise history in goals (477), points (898), power-play goals (176), game-winning goals (80), overtime goals (15), shots (3,840) and multi-goal games (100).
Caps Connections – Capitals right wing Justin Williams registered 201 points (81g, 120a) in 265 games with Carolina from 2003-09.

Red, White and Blueliner – John Carlson scored a goal and earned an assist on Thursday against Chicago, marking his second
multi-point game of the season (10/10: 2a) and his 34th career multi-multi-point game. Since 2013-14, Carlson ranks third among American defensemen in goals (23) assists (73) and points (96). In addition, the Natick, Mass., native has played in 381 consecutive games, marking the second-longest consecutive games played streak in Capitals franchise history, trailing Bob Carpenter (422). Carlson and teammate Karl Alzner, who has played in 379 consecutive games, are two of only three defensemen (Keith Yandle) that have not missed a regular-season game in each of the last six seasons (2010-15).
