29th GENERAL ASSEMBLY 2016

12–13 May, Uppsala, Sweden

EAEVE

(2)

WELCOME

Dear Rectors, Deans, Colleagues, Representatives of the Member Faculties of the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education,

As Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science at the Swedish Uni-versity of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), it is a pleasure and a privilege to greet the repre-sentatives of the close to 100 establishments for veterinary education that are connect-ed to EAEVE, most welcome to Uppsala. Including delegates from outside Europe, we count some 180 delegates representing close to 90 veterinary schools in 35 countries. We are very happy to bid you welcome, not only to Sweden and to SLU, but also to our renewed and modernised Ultuna Campus, including the recently opened Centre for Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, VHC!

The two days of the 29th EAEVE General Assembly will have different focus; May 12 is

reserved for the annual “business meeting”, i.e. the General Assembly, and May 13 there will be a full-day Educational Programme.

This time the General Assembly agenda includes the introduction of a new manual for the Evaluation System, as well as important information and discussions on many other facets of EAEVE activities. The first day ends with a tour of VHC and a cocktail reception in VHC’s atrium and courtyard.

The Educational Programme on May 13 includes thought-provoking presentations from VetMedUni Vienna, OIE, FVE and WVA. After lunch, focus will – for obvious reasons – be on the theme “Modern Housing and Facilities for Veterinary Education”. After some invited presentations, we will try and use the experiences and solutions from the work with VHC for a more “practical” afternoon. In the evening, there will be a “gala dinner” in downtown Uppsala.

Once again, you are all very welcome to our University and to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science.

Prof. Kristina Dahlborn

DEAN OF THE FACULTY OF VETERINARY MEDICINE AND ANIMAL SCIENCE THE SWEDISH UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES
