A healthy body houses a healthy mind. Amrita Institutions encourage the students to be healthy in body and mind. Sports provide an excellent opportunity for students to interact with each other, develop true sportsman spirit and team spirit, as well as to stay healthy.

➢ Dr.O.J.Kumaresan has been appointed as a member of Expert Committee on 03rd April 2017 for Setting up a Sports Academy of International Standards at Cochin Campus
➢ Dr.K.Bagavinar,Asst.Physical Education Director received a Certificate of Appreciation for the Outstanding Contribution to the University.
2. Invited talks-Details attached
➢ Dr.O.J.Kumaresan was invited as a Special Invitee for the 29th Meeting of the Academic Council of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham University that was held on 14th March, 2017 at 11.00 AM at Amrita School of Medicine, Kochi to deliver a note on " issues and matters specific to AIMS campus in Sports".

INDIVIDUAL ACHIEVEMENTS:
1).Mr.N.Lalith Kumar(CB.MC.U3MAC17021) has secured First Place in 200 Mts Free Style in District Level Swimming Meet conducted in Tiruppur for Chief Ministers Trophy by SDAT on 28.11.2017.
2). Mr.N.Lalith Kumar(CB.MC.U3MAC17021) has secured Third in Waterpolo and 4 x 100 Free Style Relay in Swimming at the 29th Tamilnadu State Winter Aquatic Championship 2017 held at Aquatic Complax, Valachery,Chennai from 28th-30th December 2017 organised by Tamilnadu State Aquatic Association.
3). Mr.M.Thanga Manickam (CB.EN.U4CSE17161) has secured Third Place with a Cash Prize of Rs.20000.00 in KKCA 2nd All India FIDE Rated below 1600 Chess Tournament held at Coimbatore from 29th-31st December 2017.
6). Mr. M.Koushik Ram(CBENU4CSE17230) & Mr.Ajay Vikram (CBENU4EIE17004)played under 19 Inter District Cricket Tournament representing Trichy & Tiruppur respectively.

1). Mr.Rahul Krishnan R secured 4th Position in First Board in South Zone Inter University Chess Tournament:2017-18 held at KPR Engg & Tech organized by Anna University,Chennai.
2). Mr.R.Vaidyanathan (CBENU4MEE14055) has entered into the Semi Final in 100m, 200m & 4*100 Mts Relay in All India Inter University Athletics Championship held at Acharya Nagarjuna University ,Guntur from 12th-16th December 2017.He became the 14th Best Athlete in India in 100m Race.

Note: Apart from the above facilities every hostel is having a separate sports room where the students will have a provision for Table Tennis, Carrom, Chess, etc.
(iii). STATE OF ART FACILITIES:
(i). Swimming Pool:
Swimming is one of the State of Art facilities in the Ettimadai Campus. We spent more than one crore rupee to make the dream into reality with this world-class facility. After making all this effort we wanted to utilize it at the optimum level.
Amrita Swimming Pool is of Olympic Standard with 50m X 25m in Size and contains 2.4 million littres of water and a Toddlers Pool is to accommodate babies and for the professionals to have Warm-Up.
We have the State-of art machinery that can purify 2.4 million litres of water with in six hours. Our aim is to create awareness about the Swimming among the people of Coimbatore and to produce State, National and International Swimmers.
(ii). Synthetic Tennis Court:
➢ In this type of court the players will have even bounce while playing.
➢ Comparing with the ordinary Clay Court, this type of Court will have almost Nil Maintenance.
➢ It will be suitable for the both extreme conditions.
(iii). Arogya Sadanam (New Gymnasium):
a).New Gym Area: 3000 Sq.Ft(including Rooms)
Equipments: Cardio Equipments : Motorized Treadmill-3 Nos, Cross Trainer-2 Nos and Upride Bike-2 Nos
Weight Training Equipments : 12 in One Gym, Smith Machine, Cable Cross over Machine, Hack Squat Machine, Calf Raise Machine, Bench Press-Incline, Decline and Flat, Barbells and Dumbells Facilities : Attached Toilet Block, Changing Room, Office Room
Flooring : Synthetic Flooring imported From Decking Athletic Infrastructure Ltd b). Indoor Games Area (Approx 5200 Sq.Ft): (with Synthetic Flooring and excluding rooms)
1). Badminton Courts: Club International Level Four Synthetic Courts with Lighting Facilities 2). Separate Rooms for Carrom, Chess and Table Tennis
3). Provision for Dress Changing Facilities.
4). Separate Office Room and Issue counter Room.
EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES-
AAGNEAYA-Sports Club of Amrita
➢ Has conducted a Campus Marathan for Boys, Girls and Staff Members where more than 400 participants participated on 31.07.2017
➢ Has conducted a Doubles Table Tennis Tournament for Boys and Girls where 38 tems have participated in total on 26th & 27th December 2017
6. CELEBRATIONS - Gokulashtami-
➢ Sports Events like Uriyadi, Tug Of War, Pole Climbing and Lucky Corner have been conducted at our Main Play Ground for the students.
Staff Tournaments: 17-18
We have conducted the staff tournaments from 02.01.2018 till 10.02.2018.
For Male staff members we completed the tournaments in 6 Disciplines in Table Tennis, Badminton, Carrom, Chess, Sevens Football & Cricket.
For Female staff members we conducted the tournaments in 5 Disciplines in Table Tennis, Badminton, Tenni-Koit, Carrom & Chess
Intramural Competitions:
As we did in the last year, all the students are divided into four teams namely AMRITAMAYI, ANANDAMAYI, CHINMAYI and JYOTHIRMAYI in the name of AMMA based on the Departmental wise has attracted the good attention.
We have conducted the matches between these teams like Basketball, Ball Badminton, Volleyball, Throw Ball, Football, Cricket, Tennis, Handball, Hockey, Swimming, Kabaddi & Tenni-Koit in the Outdoor Games and in the Indoor Games like Shuttle Badminton, Table Tennis, Carrom, Chess, and Weight Lifting &
Power Lifting,
With the continuous and dedicated support of the Management, Staff and Students, we will assure you that we will reach the heights in the future as well. We pray to AMMA to give all the strength to achieve this goal.
