The Maryland Sate Council of the Knights of Columbus is the sponsor of several high school scholarships for its members and for Catholic students in general. Below is a brief summary of these scholarships.

The Frederick M. Gossman Memorial High School Scholarship.

Designed to assist those Brother Knights holding membership in councils within the jurisdiction of Maryland in paying tuition for their sons and daughters at accredited Catholic High Schools;

three grants of $1,500 per year, for up to four years, will be awarded. Awards will be made on the basis of academic excellence, personal qualifications, and financial need. The children of deceased members are also eligible, provided the member was in good standing at the time of death.

The William J. O’Brien Jr. Memorial Catholic High School Scholarship—Three grants of $1,500 per year for up to four years will be awarded. This program is open to any Catholic student who is a resident of the State of Maryland to include children and grandchildren of a member of Knight of Columbus council with Maryland. Applicants must have been officially accepted at or must be students at accredited Catholic High Schools. Applications will be judged on academic excellence, personal qualifications, and financial need.

All applications must be received no later than February 1, 2016.

Talk to any Knight for more information.

Visit the Lending Library and explore our New Arrivals - these awesome books, CDs, and DVDs are just waiting for you to check them out! If you do check anything out, please remember to record it in the black book. Also, please check to see if you have any items that need to be returned: many items are missing, especially from the Kids' section. All materials have a sticker that says 'St.

John's Lending Library.' Thanks for your help!

Stop by the Adult Faith Formation table in the Msgr. Harris Center before or after all Sunday Masses on December 12/13, December 19/20, or January 2/3 to find out about new small groups and Bible studies coming soon to our parish! You will also be able to register for a study at the table. New studies coming soon include Catholic Scripture Study: Isaiah (beginning Jan. 6), Symbolon: The Catholic Faith Explained (beginning Jan. 24), and Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible (beginning Jan. 25). All adults are welcome to take part in any of the studies. If you are intimidated by the idea of signing up for a study or small group, please don't be! They are a great way to learn about the Catholic faith while having fun and forming lasting friendships. For more information, please contact Lacy Scheiber at (301) 373-2281 or scheiberl@sjchollywood.org.
