(Catalog Number 2755-NB0, -NB1, -NB2)

This document shows how to install the following components in the 2755-DSxx and 2755-DDxx➀ Bar Code Decoders.

I/O Module Board (Catalog No. 2755-NB1 and -NB2).

I/O Connector and Cables (Catalog No. 2755-NB0).

I/O Modules supplied with Catalog No. 2755-NB2. The I/O

modules are also available as separate catalog numbers as shown on page 2.

This section shows how to install the I/O Module Board (Catalog No. 2755-NB1 and -NB2) in the decoder. Refer to Figure 1 during installation.

To install the I/O Module Board: 1. Remove AC power from decoder.

!

ATTENTION: Remove power from decoder before

installing the I/O Module Board. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.

!

ATTENTION: ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) may

cause damage to electronic equipment. Take standard precautions to minimize the possibility of an

electrostatic discharge when installing this option.

2. Loosen the two cover screws and open decoder cover.

3. Locate the four metal standoffs and one plastic support standoff

on the logic board. Also locate the connector on the logic board labeled CON9 DISCRETE I/O. Align the I/O Board so that the connector strip is positioned over CON9 DISCRETE I/O.

4. Place the I/O Module Board over the standoffs so that the plastic

center support snaps into the center hole on the I/O Board. Press down firmly.

Catalog numbers are incomplete. The 2755-DS and -DD decoders are available in different configurations.

This section shows how to install the Catalog No. 2755-NB0 I/O Connector in the decoder. Refer to Figure 2 during installation.

The Catalog No. 2755-NB0 I/O Connector is shipped with:

Connector

Washer

Cable (6 foot/1.83 meter)

Nut

Note: The connector wires to the I/O Module Board. See the Wiring

I/O Modules section for details.

To install the I/O Connector: 1. Remove AC power from decoder.

!

ATTENTION: Remove power from decoder before

installing the I/O Connectors.

3. Remove the plug from one of the I/O module wiring holes on the

decoder enclosure.

For a NEMA Type 1 enclosure, squeeze the two tabs inward while pushing the plug out from the inside.

For a NEMA Type 4 enclosure, push outward with your finger

on the center of the plug while pressing down on the inside lip of the plug.

4. Remove I/O Connector and parts from the package.

5. Slip the rubber washer over the wires and down over the threads

to the flange on the connector.

6. Insert the wire end of the connector into the I/O module wiring

hole of the decoder until the washer and connector flange are seated against the outside of the enclosure.

7. Slip the lock nut over the end of the wires and tighten the lock nut

to a torque of 70-100 in-lbs while holding the connector.

!

ATTENTION: Torque the lock nut only. Do not

torque the connector itself.

This section shows how to wire the cables of the I/O Connector (Catalog No. 2755-NB0) to the I/O modules. Refer to Figure 3 during installation.

Below each module position on the I/O board is a terminal block connector which accepts up to 12 gauge wire.

To wire each output module:

1. Strip 1/4 inch of the insulation from cable wires (removing

wire particles).

2. Loosen terminal screws on pull-apart connector.

For easier installation, remove connector from the I/O board by gently lifting the connector.

3. Insert wires into connector. Note polarity on module connectors when installing DC modules.

4. Tighten terminal screws on connector to secure the wires. 5. Replace pull-apart connector (if removed from I/O board).

This section shows how to install I/O modules. Refer to Figure 3 during installation.

The 2755-NB2 I/O Board is supplied with (2) DC output modules and (1) DC input module. Figure 3 shows the output modules installed in positions MOD1 and MOD2. The input module is installed in position MOD8.

To install modules in the I/O board: 1. Remove AC power from decoder.

!

ATTENTION: Remove power from decoder before

installing the I/O Modules. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.

!

ATTENTION: ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) may

cause damage to electronic equipment. Take standard precautions to minimize the possibility of an

electrostatic discharge when installing I/O modules.

2. Loosen the two cover screws and open decoder cover.

3. Plug module into MOD position on I/O board. Carefully align

module pins over sockets in board before inserting module.

Note: Module pins must puncture the silicon seal of the I/O board

sockets.

4. Tighten the hold-down screw to secure module in position.
