04.06.2020 Term 2 #5

Hallam Primary School’s learning and teaching programs support and promote the principles and practice of Australian democracy, including a commitment to elected government, the rule of law, equal rights for all before the law, freedom of

religion, freedom of speech and association and the values of openness and tolerance. Hallam Primary School has a zero tolerance approach to child abuse.

We respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the country throughout Victoria and pay respect to the ongoing living cultures of First Peoples.

Q

ueen’s Birthday Holiday-Monday 8 June

Monday 8 June is the Queen’s Birthday holiday. Hallam PS is closed on that day.

R

eturn to Hallam PS-Years 3-6

Students in Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 will return to Hallam PS on Tuesday 9 June.

Entry will be through Harmer Road gates ONLY.

Gates will be opened at 8:30am. Students should arrive be-tween 8:30am-9:00am. Gates will be locked at 9:00am. Any student arriving after 9:00am must enter through Gate 1 (Administration Gate). Late passes are not required for the remainder of Term 2.

All students need to have their snack, lunch and a personal water bottle with them. Drinking fountains will not be used, except to fill water bottles.

Harmer Road is now designated a ‘KISS & GO’ zone… pull up at the kerb, kiss your child, let them out of the car, then go! PARENTS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO ENTER THE HALLAM PS SITE AT ANY TIME WITHOUT MAKING A PRIOR AP-POINTMENT THROUGH THE OFFICE. PLEASE CALL THE OFFICE ON 9703 1536. ACCESS WILL ONLY BE AP-PROVED FOR ESSENTIAL REASONS.

All students are expected to attend school. Schools are not expected to provide remote learning where parents elect to keep their children at home.

A

dditional health and safety measures on site Additional cleaning has been implemented to support student and staff safety within the school environment. Cleaning and sanitizing routines operate from 9:00am and fo-cus on ‘high-touch’ areas. This level of additional cleaning will also operate through next term.

S

taggered dismissal arrangement now in place Prep-Year 2 students (and their older siblings) are being dismissed at 3:00pm. Parents who collect children should wait near their car/near a designated gate/opposite the school/near the shops...

Parents must maintain 1.5m social distancing, and leave promptly after their child is collected.

Remaining Years 3-6 students will be dismissed at 3:30pm through the Harmer Road gates.

R

emote and Flexible Learning / On-site Attendance Booking

There will be no further provision of Learning@Home packs to Hallam PS students.

Parents are no longer required to use the On-site Attendance Booking process as all students will be on site from next Tues-day. Thank you for your cooperation with this process.

R

eturn of Hallam PS and DET Devices

Parents and students are now required to return loaned devices. Please pack the device in the original box, along with the charging cord/accessories. If your child can carry the device, they can take it to the STEM Centre. If your child is unable to carry the device, please call 9703 1536 to make an appointment to return it through Administration.

B

uilding Project

I have been advised that our new building will begin coming onto the Hallam PS site from next Tuesday. The building modules are basically constructed off site and are brought on site to be assembled according to the design. This construction process may require the site construction fence being moved out a little further while the crane and trucks undertake their work. It should also provide some interesting photo opportunities and discussion points for students and staff. Over the next few months building works will continue until com-pletion in Term 4 2020. School Council will be looking at land-scaping and connectivity around and between the buildings in preparation for the commencement of the 2021 school year.

021 Prep Enrolments

If you have a child who will turn 5 by 30 April 2021 they are eligible for enrolment at Hallam PS next year. Please ensure you have proof of birth in the form of a birth certifi-cate or passport, a school-entry immunisation certificertifi-cate and any visa details available.

We look forward to all of our students being back on site for the remainder of Term 2. We have had so many positive comments from students about being back...

While in isolation, the Student Leadership Team have been continuing to learn how to

be leaders. We have had weekly online meetings and have been discussing needs of

the school and ways we can address these.

Some of the needs we identified were wellbeing and mindfulness; this is especially true during these tough

times. We need to look after ourselves no matter what! So, on Friday the 29

th

at 12:30pm, our SLTs at school

and the SLTs at home joined in on a WebEx and we completed some yoga. The SLTs lead us through a

won-derfully relaxing yoga session with moves such as the ‘rainbow pose’ and the ‘tree pose’. They also read a

mindful breathing story about blowing bubbles. The 1/2s enjoyed seeing the senior students and the SLT

HAVE A LOOK AT WHAT ONE OF OUR SCHOOL CAPTAINS HAS BEEN DOING

DURING REMOTE LEARNING....

Saira is our School Captain, and recently she asked her mum, Alma, to cut

her hair so she can donate it to a wig company to make a wig for any cancer

patient. When Alma made contact with the wig company they told her that

they're working on a wig at the moment for a child who's suffering from

Leukaemia. Saira’s lovely dark shiny hair will most likely be used for

that ... so it just made her donation extra special.

WHAT A WONDERFUL ROLE MODEL FOR

EVERYONE....

Hallam Primary School is very proud of Saira

and her philanthropic nature...

What a generous young lady...

Donating something so personal for someone

in need...

Not expecting anything in return...
