Introduction
We are very excited to welcome Cowboys back to campus! While we have just a few weeks left in the school year, this presents an excellent opportunity for students and staff to test run a full return to campus next school year.
Each day our Cowboys should be ready for school by:
● Bringing a fully charge Chromebook with a charger and earphones
● Dressing in layers as doors and windows will be open often ● Bringing a water bottle.
● Bringing needed class materials
● Bring your student ID or have it on StudentVue ready to go
Each day we will have an Information Booth located in the heart of campus, in front of ASB. During key periods such as before and after school, plus passing periods, help will be available for our students. Our LINK Crew and ASB students will be available to help guide students to their classes, especially our 9th graders that haven’t been on campus yet.
We are all traveling in new territory. We appreciate any feedback you can provide as we navigate the Hybrid world of education. Together we will Cowboy Up!
Safety Procedures
Face Coverings or Masks
All students are required to wear a face
covering at all times upon entering any part of the campus. The only exception is eating a snack or drinking a beverage at the appropriate times. Students may use their own face covering or the school will provide one. Compliance with the districts’ face covering mandate is mandatory unless there is a medical exception and a release from a medical doctor. For students with a documented medical exemption, students are still required to wear a face shield. Students must comply or in-person instruction on campus will not be allowed.
If a student is willfully not wearing a mask, and a staff member has instructed them to do so, this will be considered a violation of the in-person instruction contract. Parents will be notified and a parent conference will be required before your student may return for in-person instruction. The conference will be conducted to determine how we can work together to support your student in complying with the face covering requirement. A second violation of not wearing a face covering will result in a termination of the
in-person instructional contract and your student will be placed in full distance learning for the remainder of the school year.
Wellness Checks and Temperature Checks
Families will be required to complete the daily wellness check before coming to campus each day. The link is available on the SHS Hybrid app, on our website and a tab will be available when students log onto their Chromebooks.
Students will not be allowed to enter the campus if they display any of the following symptoms: Temperature reading of 100º or above, cough, difficulty breathing, new loss of smell or taste, sore throat,
headache, muscle or body aches, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, nasal congestion. Students that display any of the signs above or other symptoms of illness, must be picked up from school immediately. Students may not be allowed on campus if they display other symptoms not listed above and a doctor’s note may be required to return to school when symptom free. Please help support a healthy campus by not sending your child to school if they are showing signs of illness or if other household family members are in ill health.
When students enter campus they will need to have their temperature taken by a staff member using a touchless thermometer. If a student has an elevated temperature of 100º or above the student will be brought to our safe room and parent/guardian will be notified to pick the student up. Students will also be provided hand sanitizer using our touchless dispensers.
Physical Distancing
Students are expected to maintain a 3-foot distance whenever possible from one
another in the classroom and 6-foot distance when outside on campus. When this is not possible, students must maintain a maximum distance possible. Students will comply with staff directions in regard to physical distancing.
Students should not make physical contact with students or staff. This includes the avoidance of hand shaking, hugging, and fist bumping.
Students will be assigned a desk seat in the classroom and students are expected to adhere to their seating assignment at all times, unless directed by a staff member.
Hand Washing and Hand Sanitization
Students are expected to comply with frequent hand washing and hand sanitization routines. Students should use the available hand sanitizer as they enter the classroom upon arrival. Hand sanitizer will be available in classrooms and in other locations around the school.
Safe Routes Around Campus
Students and staff will comply with the safe routes established to minimize
overcrowding in our interior hallways. The main building will have a one way direction, with stairways designated as up or down. Other areas of the campus are two
directional and we ask that students and staff keep to the right side of the road, just like a driver would do.
There are some areas of campus that will be off limits. Students are asked to pay attention to the signage for the “Do Not Enter” areas.
Possible Illness
If a student shows symptoms of illness, including an elevated temperature at check in, they will be taken to the site safe room. This room will be monitored by our health tech, who will contact the parent for the student to be picked up. Please be prepared to pick up your students as soon as possible if you receive a call. Check ParentVue to make sure we have the most up to date information.
Hybrid Schedule
Entering/Exiting Campus
Students will enter and exit through the gate at the Student Parking Lot. Avenue B
will be the location for both bus and parent/guardian drop offs. As students enter the gate they will proceed to the temperature check stations as guided by SHS staff. Students coming on the bus will come to the right side of the gate. Students walking, driving or being dropped off will come to the left side of the gate. There will be signs directing students.
Students will be able to pick up a breakfast and snack at this time. They will need to use their ID card or Synergy ID to put in their number.
Students will then proceed directly to their classroom. They will eat their breakfast in their period 2 classroom.
If a student has an elevated temperature, they will be escorted to the safe room and a parent/guardian will be contacted for pickup.
Students may use the parking lot and should register for a parking pass from ASB after we resume school. Parking passes will be free, and the digital request form will be sent
out via the student announcements, Advisory, G-Classroom, and be available on the Hybrid app.
Students will exit school through the Student Parking lot gate as well. Food service will provide a grab and go lunch as students leave campus. Buses and parent/guardian pickup will be in this area. Students will be required to leave campus immediately. Students will need to return to campus if they have scheduled athletic practice or games at the appropriate time.
If students arrive late to campus they will enter at the Attendance doors. They will sign in and have a temperature check. They will then proceed to the classroom.
If a student needs to leave early, they must follow the current procedure of being picked up at the Attendance office by a parent/guardian. If the lobby is full, parents/guardians may be asked to wait outside to allow for proper physical distancing.
Classroom Expectations
All classroom and school rules still apply. Students are expected to follow all health and safety guidelines and classroom and school rules.
Desks are placed as necessary to maintain physical distancing and students are required to remain in their assigned seats during classroom instruction and to follow teacher and staff directions. If a student repeatedly ignores staff or teacher directions regarding classroom behavior or physical distancing, a parent will be notified and a parent conference will be required before your student may return for in-person
instruction. The conference will be conducted to determine how we can work together to support your student in complying with the social distancing guidelines. A second
violation and parent conference will result in a termination of the in-person instructional contract and your student will be placed in full distance learning for the remainder of the school year.
Bathroom Expectations
Bathroom use will be restricted to minimize crowding. Each classroom will have an assigned bathroom and students must use that bathroom. Teachers will issue bathroom passes using the E Hall Pass system. We ask that students check the bathroom for availability, and if all allowed stalls are in use, to line up outside the door. There will be a sign and floor markings to indicate where to line up. Use the bathroom quickly, thoroughly washing your hands, and return to your classroom.
Students that do not follow the bathroom procedures are subject to disciplinary action by administration.
Food Service & Food
Breakfast (7:40-8:10 AM), a snack (with breakfast) and lunch (1:15-1:55 PM) will be served on campus Tuesday through Friday, for our in-person Hybrid students. These items will be picked up upon entry and exit.
Our drive through food service pickup will remain for our distance learning students. Pick up will continue in the Staff Parking Lot, 11:30-12:30.
Discipline
The rules from our regular Student Handbook remain the same, including the possible consequences. In addition to those usual expectations, we have some new
expectations related to COVID that must be followed. These are part of the
Parent/Student contract that every Hybrid student must complete by the second day of their in-person schedule.
In general, students that are violating the expectations in the Parent/Student contract will be subject to disciplinary action. The first incident will result in a student conference with an administrator and a parent/guardian. If there is a second incident the student will be returned to distance learning for the remainder of the school year.
Activities
Parking Passes
Parking passes are available free of charge this year. A digital form for parking passes will be sent out via announcements, Advisory, G-Classroom. More information to come on this, but in the meantime students are able to park in our student lot. Parking passes should be displayed in your car when parking on campus.
Student IDs that have not been picked up this year are available at ASB. IDs are needed for breakfast and lunch pickup. If you have a smartphone you can also use the ID found on StudentVue.
Office Visits
At this time, please schedule visits with counselors online. As we get into our Hybrid schedule in the coming weeks we may adjust this policy.
If you have technology issues you can come to the textbook room for assistance. Please ask your teacher for a pass.
