Mr N Rangasamy, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Puducherry inaugurated the Augmented Oxygenated Beds Project at the Government Hospital for Chest Disease and Indira Gandhi Medical College & Research Institute in Puducherry on 14 June 2021.

The project would have the capacity to treat 475 Covid patients with oxygenated beds in these two Government hospitals. The oxygenated beds facilities were contributed by Eaton Power Quality Pvt Ltd, Integra Software Services (P) Ltd; Snam Alloys Pvt Ltd, Hotel Athithi and the Oxygen Generation Plant by Hindustan Unilever Ltd, Puducherry

Hon’ble Lt. Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan addressed the gathering virtually from Raj Bhawan, Hyderabad Dignitaries / Government officials present included Mr V Aroumougame, Member of Legislative Assembly, Mr K S P Ramesh, Member of Legislative Assembly, Dr T Arun, IAS, Secretary to Government, Health, Mr A Vikranth Raja, IAS, Secretary to Government, Public Works Department, Government of Puducherry and Dr. Mohan Kumar, Director, Health Services, Government of Puducherry

INTERACTIONS AND REPRESENTATIONS

CII members on 16 June 2021 met Mr B Sreenivasulu, IPS, Vijayawada City Police Commissioner to discuss movement of vehicles and employees to carry out industrial activities are stopped in Vijayawada City Police limits during curfew hours. Mr Sreenivasulu was very receptive of CII suggestions.

CII Delegation had a meeting with Mr P Rajeeve, Minister for Industries & Dr K Ellangovan, IAS, Principal Secretary-Industries, Government of Kerala. CII is part of the commerce mission constituted by Government of Kerala. Various representation has been made by CII for the improvement of Trade, Commerce and Exports of the State and it has been positively considered and action have been initiated.

Mr Sreenath Vishnu, Chairman, CII Kerala participated in the Commerce Mission meeting held on 17th June 2021 under the leadership of Industry Minister and Principal Secretary, Industries and reviewed the progress on the decision made in the past and discussed the way forward

CII members Dr S Sureender, Vice Chairman, CII Puducherry State Council & Director, The Flavors India Pvt Ltd and Mr Shrikanth R D, Chairman, CII Puducherry COVID 19 Task Force, Past Chairman, CII Puducherry State Council & Director – Manufacturing, Lenovo India Pvt Ltd met Dr T Arun, IAS, Secretary Health, Government of Puducherry and briefed him about the vaccination drive at Thattanchavady Industrial Estate. Around 750 employees from various industries got vaccinated.

Discussions also focussed on organising similar camps at Mettupalayam, Thirubhuvanai Industrial Estate and Integra Software Services. Secretary has accepted the request and directed the officials to organise the camps.

Meeting with Dr Samir V. Kamat, Distinguished Scientist & Director General, Naval Systems &

Materials (NS & M) Visakhapatnam, 18 June 2021

Mr J Srinivasa Raju, Convenor, CII Andhra Pradesh Defence & Aerospace Panel met Director General Dr Samir V. Kamat and deliberated on areas of partnership to promote various technologies such as state of art Ship building technologies, Stealth, (Vibration, Radar cross sections, magnetic etc), fabrication of shell for weapons with carbon and 3D technologies. Marine Electronic are in great demand for weapons and underwater domain.

Discussions also focussed on harnessing the expertise of retired Navy officials and scientists from DRDO laboratories for creation of Defense industrial complex with common testing facilities for industry and academia can make defense industry more sustainable and can work towards enhancing exports from Andhra Pradesh.

Confederation of Indian Industry - Telangana & ALPLA India Ltd entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote Dual apprenticeship model in Diploma education on 16 June 2020. Under this program 10 Diploma students were chosen through an assessment model and given two years training at the industry’s training centre. Upon completion of the training all of them will be given jobs by ALPLA.

0n 17 June 2021, Mr Navin Mittal, Commissioner, Department of Technical Education, Govt of Telangana visited Future Corner training centre at ALPLA & appreciated the progress made by the students within 10 months. He commended efforts of CII & ALPLA and suggested many more companies should adopt dual apprenticeship program.

The CII IWN Southern Region has kickstarted its first StarTrek Series for the year 2021 by organizing an interaction with the star couples, Mr K Pandiarajan, Chairman, Ma Foi Group of Companies and Mrs Latha Pandiarajan, Managing Trustee, The Ma Foi Foundation & Co-Founder - Ma Foi Group of Companies on 18th June 2021 through a virtual session.

After a brief introduction by Ms Hema Mani, the Vice Chairwoman, IWN Tamil Nadu and Director, HR, Lennox International Ltd, the Session was moderated by Ms Shirin Salis, the Immediate Past Chairwoman, IWN Karnataka and VP – HR, Trane Technologies Ltd.

There are lot of opportunities in the digital marketing for the entrepreneurs.

While Mr Pandiarajan made a mention about IWN’s Mentorship Development Programme, he said that IWN can scale up this mentoring initiative by developing women entrepreneurs. This way, IWN not only can aspires from its present number of mentoring 48 mentees to 1000 but also create an identity by itself.

The Session showcased the synergy between the couples and how they have brought their business through richness of their experience.

Interaction for MSME Competitiveness

CII through the SME Finance Facilitation Centre initiated the weekly virtual clinics with the Finance Experts, as service to its MSME members. The said clinics will attempt to bring forward the policy suggestions to be made to the concerned authorities along with providing individual advisory and consultancy support.

CII in Southern Region organized the clinic on 19 June 2021 to provide advisory and consultancy support. The speakers at the session included Mr Rajnish Kumar, Former Chairman, State Bank of India, Mr Ashok Saigal

Co-chair, CII National MSME Council & Chairman, Core Group on Finance & Related Services for MSMEs and

MD, Frontier Technologies Pvt Ltd, Mr Sankar Chakraborti, Chairman, SMERA Ratings Ltd, and Mr Ronak Shah, COO and Co-Founder, Online PSB Loans Portal.

Mr Ravi Sam, Chairman, CSR and Affirmative Action Subcommittee & Managing Director, Adwaith Lakshmi Industries Ltd along with Mr Narasimhan S, Co Chairman CSR and Affirmative Action Subcommittee & MD Sattva Logistics Pvt Ltd held a discussion with select leaders of the Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DICCI) to strengthen the Affirmative Action engagement and to address the fallout of pandemic on small and medium businesses.

Representations – MSME Sector Focus

MOD charges for all new loans, renewals, enhancement of ODs etc to be waived for one year (2021-22) Banks have increased CC Renewal, Bank Guarantee charges, folio charges etc. This needs to be addressed and reduced owing to the financial stress faced by the SMEs during the pandemic.

Bankers follow undisclosed internal ratings, which leads to very opaque process of assessing customers. It is suggested that banks adopt existing transparent rating mechanisms for SMEs to ensure lending is not hindered.

RELIEF AND REHABILITATION ACROSS CII SOUTHERN REGION

CII-Foundation with the support of members – Signode and Alpla executed a COVID relief project of creating a healthcare infrastructure, a Oxygen Piping Plant at Sadashivpet Community Health Centre, Sanga Reddy District, Telangana on 18 June 2021. appreciated the efforts taken by CII, Yi Tiruppur and the industries who supported the project.

As part of Covid relief measure CII member company Lucas TVS & Indian Nippon Electricals Ltd handed over the Oxygen Concentrator (10 Nos) to Secretary Health, Government of Puducherry and Lenovo India Pvt Ltd handed over the Ventilator to Secretary Health, Government of Puducherry in the presence of Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Puducherry.

CII Andhra Pradesh has part of Covid Related Initiatives, contributed 400 High End Face Shields to Government Hospitals; Railway Hospital and Mahatma Gandhi Cancer Hospital for the utilization to all the frontline workforces such as Doctors, Nurses and Hospital Staff on 16 June 2021 in Visakhapatnam.

These high-end face shields have been identified as an effective option to secure the working conditions of the doctors and staff of the hospitals from spread of virus though aerial means.

Mr Praveen Mathew, Immediate Past Chairman, and Managing Director, Kanam Latex Industries Pvt Ltd contributed Rs 25 lakhs worth of medical equipment to General Hospital, Kanyakumari District

CII Thoothukudi handed over relief materials worth of Rs.48 lakhs which include 29 Oxygen Concentrators, 12 ICU cot with Bed, Twenty thousand 3 ply masks and 83 Boxes of Hand sanitizers for the benefit of people in Thoothukudi District.

CII Telangana has received about 60 Oxygen Concentrators and 3000 N95 masks as donation from Tata Consultancy Services. These oxygen Concentrators are being handed over to Government Hospitals located in Warangal, Nizamabad, Mehbubabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Medak Districts and MNJ Cancer Hospital in Hyderabad

CII - Yi Amaravati in association with VM Bakery Pvt Ltd organised a COVID Vaccination Drive for 200 people at Autonagar, Vijayawada

CII in partnership with Deccan Fine Chemicals facilitated vaccine drive for employees at the workplace

CII & Yi Tiruppur jointly with Esstee Exports organized a Corporate Vaccination drive at Esstee Exports, Tirupur. Over 500 employees benefitted from the drive in phase 1 and on 19th June the phase 2 of the drive saw as many as 1000 employees benefitting

CII AP in partnership with Omni Hospitals Vishakapatnam launched a vaccine drive for corporates

Vaccination Drive held at Thatanchavady Industrial Estate for 18+ and above with the support of Health Department, Government of Puducherry

CII Tirupur in association with Danavarshini Exports, Tirupur organised a Corporate Vaccination Drive. Over 450 employees of the member company benefitted from the drive

CII works closely with the Government and Local Authorities of the Southern states to identify and address pressing needs pertaining to child welfare amidst the surge of COVID. Meetings have been organised with government representatives, to understand the role private sector can play with regard to short term and long-term needs.

One such meeting was held with Ms D Divya, IAS, Special Secretary, Women and Child Development Dept, Govt of Telangana on the involvement of Industries in the Child welfare initiatives for Covid Relief in Telangana State. The meeting was joined by CII Office bearers of Telangana.

Similarly in Andhra Pradesh a meeting was held with Ms A R Anuradha, IPS, Principal Secretary - Women, Children, Disabled and Senior Citizens Department, Govt. of AP and Dr Kritika Shukla, IAS, Director, Dept of Women Development & Child Welfare, Govt of AP. The meetings were lead by Mr Ravi Sam, Chairman, CSR and Affirmative Action Subcommittee & MD Adwaith Lakshmi Industries Ltd

CII in collaboration with NATCO Trust, ALPLA India, Vasantha Tool Crafts arranged for over 20000 meals in total at venues including TIMS Hospital, Govt ENT Hospital, Nilofur Hospial, Govt Maternity Hospital, at Sadashivpet and Isnapur Villages in Sangareddy District and Nizamabad.

CII Foundation with the support of CLP India Private Limited supported 1400 families of the Irular community residing at Pazhaverkadu, Tamil Nadu with ration kits worth Rs.17 lakhs. This effort benefited over 4900 beneficiaries including 700 destitute widows. Daimler India Commercial Vehicles provided the logistic support for the initiative.

The ration kits were distributed by Mr E Manigandan, Tahsildar , Ponneri Taluk, Government of Tamil Nadu to the beneficiaries. The beneficiaries thanked CII and the supporting organisations for extending the support.
