Earth Day
To celebrate Earth Day, we pulled out our garden tools, rolled up our shelves, put on our gardening gloves, and starting prepping our flower beds for planting. The Garden Club was in full swing and worked all morning to clear out all the debris from our flower beds. The weather was perfect to work outside in our garden! We are all looking forward to adding flowers and vegetables to our flower beds.
We expressed our creativity and made flower impressions in clay. We ventured outside and selected some leaves and flowers to use as our molds. We rolled out our clay and very carefully pressed the flowers and leaves into the clay. Once our clay was dried, we painted the impressions bright colors. Our clay flower impressions turned out beautiful!
Earth Day would not have been complete without us making some dirt cups. We mixed up some chocolate
pudding, crushed some Oreos and added some gummy worms to top off our dirt cups. What a delicious afternoon snack to celebrate Earth Day!
Rita, with our clay
flower impressions Cheers! Joann, working in our garden
Spring Into Action!
We were all excited to see the winter blues melt away. Spring had finally arrived here at Ivy Creek! We sprung into action with our springtime crafting and evenchallenged ourselves to get into shape with a walking challenge!
We crafted bunnies out of socks and wine glasses. For our sock bunnies, we filled the socks up with rice, cut out the ears, added some eyes and a nose, and a cute little bunny tail! They turned out perfect! For our wine glass bunnies, we painted wine glasses and added burlap hats and ears. Though we could not use our wine glasses to drink out of, they were the perfect springtime decoration to put on display!
We celebrated the warmer weather by
making suncatchers. We painted the wooden suncatchers a variety of colors. While some of us hung them on our apartment doors, some of us decided to hang them out on our balconies to watch them spin in the breeze. Of course, our Activity Room holiday tree was decorated for spring! We crafted birdhouses and flowers out of foam to use as ornaments for our tree. We also designed butterflies using coffee filters and pipe cleaners and crafted some caterpillars for our tree. We placed a springtime hat on top of our tree for the finishing touch!
To get our vitamin D and to shed those extra winter pounds, we challenged ourselves to a walking challenge. For a whole month, a group of dedicated individuals walked outside and took advantage of the sunshine! We tracked our steps and the group walked a total of 54,743 steps! We also timed ourselves on each walk and in total, we walked 9 hours, 53 minutes, and 56 seconds for the whole month! Congratulations to the Walking Club for a job well done!

Mother’s Day!
We kicked off Mother’s Day week by hosting at Garden Tea Party for our wonderful Ivy Creek ladies. Assistant Manager Marlo, Activity Director Rachael, along with the help of residents Peg and Phyllis, made our Activity Room beautiful for the occasion. They placed beautiful flower arrangements on the tables along with rose petals and beautiful teacups. Each lady received a special assortment of tea individually prepared by our friend Karen, from Rose Hip Barn and Orchard Tea Room. Included in their very own special bag of tea to choose from, was a Charlotte’s tea, a Moroccan tea, and a tea called My Heart. Our Ivy Creek ladies even dressed up for the Garden Tea Party and looked absolutely stunning!
Executive Chef Amanda, made a variety of delicious foods for all of us to try. She served us crab cake sliders, salmon mousse with crackers, cucumber tea sandwiches, oatmeal raisin scones, and a white chocolate raspberry cake for all of us to enjoy. The food and the hot tea were fabulous!
For Mother’s Day, Manager Karen along with the help of Activity Director Rachael and server Vicky, made our Dining Room beautiful for our special Mother’s Day dinner. They covered the tables with lavender tablecloths and put fresh flower arrangements on each table. They placed pretty flower arrangements throughout the Dining Room and Manager Karen made our coffee bar beautiful, decorating it with flowers and teacups. For dinner, Executive Chef Amanda and our culinary team, served us shrimp cocktail and lobster risotto with a side of asparagus. For dessert, we enjoyed a vanilla mousse with a candied heart, along with chocolate-covered strawberries. Our Ivy Creek Mother’s Day was spectacular!
Thank you to the crew at the Mexican Post! That’s one tall margarita! Taco salad
Cinco de Mayo!
Cinco de Mayo was a ton of fun here at Ivy Creek! We celebrated in style! We wore our sombreros while feasting on a delicious Mexican meal prepared by our amazing culinary team. Executive Chef Amanda and her team made us taco salads and churros for lunch. Yum!
While the party was hopping at Ivy Creek, another group of us partied at a local Mexican restaurant called The Mexican Post. We dined on quesadillas, tacos and deep-fried ice cream topped off with chocolate, caramel, honey, and whipped cream. Some of us were even brave enough to try the extra tall margarita!
Thank you to Executive Chef Amanda and our culinary team for providing us with the delicious food for our Garden Tea Party and for the fabulous Mother’s Day Dinner. Thank you to residents Phyllis and Peg for helping set up the
Garden Tea Party. Thank you to residents Anne, Velma and Claire for providing us with teapots. Many thanks to the Erney family for lending us the beautiful teacups. Thank you to Karen from Rose Hip Barn and Orchard Tea Room for providing the teabags for the Garden Tea Party. Finally, we would like to thank our wonderful management team for helping make Mother’s Day special for us here at Ivy Creek.
